The Bride’s Tales
旅人となるスミス。さあ荷物をまとめようか。
Smith is becoming a traveller. Time to pack his luggage.

-Have you finished packing?

-Not quite.

まあ大事なのはこれくらいなもんで
-This is all that’s dear to me, really.

でも残念ですわ
Sanila: But it’s such a shame.
もっといて下さっても構いませんのに
You could have stayed here with us longer.

いやあ私もすっかり忘れてたんですけど
Smith: Well, I’d completely forgotten about it myself.
最初に行くつもりだった所にやっと連絡がつきまして
But I got word from the place I originally intended to go.

あちらの族長さんに話を通してくれたらしいんで
-Word seems to have got through to the head of the region.
ついで頼んでおいた品物も受け取って来ようかと
There’s something I have to pick up on the way as well.

またくる？
Torkan: Will you come back?
そうですねえ
Smith: I think so.
帰国前にはもう一度戻って来たいですけど…
I want to come back once more before I go home.

Tileke’s dad: Whoa!

いい馬が見つかった
Tileke’s dad: I found a good horse for you.
特別脚が強い奴だから安心だ
He has very strong legs, so you should be fine.
中庭につないである
He’s tied in the courtyard.

そうですか！
Smith: You did!
いやあ良かった！
That’s brilliant news!

これ
Karluk: Here.
少ないですけど途中で食べて下さい
It isn’t much, but please eat it on the way.
日持ちしますから
It should last you a few days.

Smith: Oh!

Smith: Oh, that’s it!
これも返さないと
I have to return this.

いいわよ持っていってちょうだい
Sanila: Don’t worry, please take it with you!

The nights are cold.

Old man: Where are you going to?

カラザという所に案内人を手配してくれているそうなので
At a place called Karaza there’ll be a guide waiting for me.
とりあえずそこまでたどり着ければ
At least, if I can struggle on that far.

Old man: Karaza?

Tileke’s mam: What?
そこってボズ叔父様のいる近くじゃありません？
Isn’t that near to where Uncle Boz lived?

Sanila: Uncle Boz?
ほらあのロバ買いに行った
Oh, who went to buy the donkeys?
そうでしょう？ねえ
Tileke’s mam: That’s the one. Hey…
西の川を越えた
He’s across the western river.

Karluk: Eh?

Oh, over there!

それなら僕が途中で送りますよ
Karluk: In that case I’ll accompany you there.
あの辺道も危ないし
The road’s dangerous.
本当ですか！？
Smith: Really!?

野宿するのにいい所も知ってますから
-And I know good places to make camp.
いやあ助かります
Smith: Thank you so much!
すみません何から何まで
You’ve done so much for me.

馬の仕度してきます
Amira: I’ll prepare the horses.

何か手伝いましょうか
Karluk: Can I help with anything?

Then could you gather all that up for me?

Karluk: Is this a tent?
ええあんまり使ってませんでしたけど
Smith: It is. I haven’t used it much though.

Karluk: Why did you come here, Mr Smith?

途中で落っこちたりしない？
-It’s not going to drop off on the way?
もうちょっと強めに縛っておいたほうがいいんじゃない？
-Shouldn’t you tie it on a bit more tightly?

平気だろこのくらいなら
Tileke’s dad: It should be fine like this.

Smith: …Well.
長い間お世話になりました
You’ve helped me out for a long time.

道中ご無事で
Sanila: Be safe on the road.
近くに寄ったらまた来るといい
Akunbek: If you’re ever in the area, come back and visit.

We will sing and tell stories together.

The stars guard the day, and the moon guards the night.

Smith: Wow, Karluk.

The liquid light flows to fill that silver cup

月よ旅路を照らせ
Amira: Moon, illuminate our journey
黄金の道を無事に行きて帰るよう
So that we can return safely along the golden path

From the heavens.
上手い上手い
Karluk: Wonderful, wonderful!

The breeze resounds with an enchanting melody…

Leaving behind the people they meet is also necessary.

来る者拒まず
Without rejecting those who come…
去る者追わず
Without chasing those who leave.

-There is the possibility that harm will befall you.

この地を訪れた探検家者氏には
-Among all the explorers who have visited these lands
本を草して名を成した者ばかりではない
Not all of them are those who write books and whose names endure.

争いに巻き込まれあるいは諜報員の嫌疑をかけられ
There are many who get tangled in conflicts or suspected as spies
生きて帰らぬ者も多い
And, although still living, don’t return home.
