Harumi : Takejirou, who is staying at the house of his elder brother with whom he met for the first time in 10 years, wakes up to the sound of a fire alert.
Harumi: "Isn't the fire in the direction of Mikagawa Hamaguri-cho, where my store is?"
Harumi: Bad premonitions often strike true.
Harumi: Fire that came in through a mouse hole completely burned down his store's storehouse, which constituted all his possessions.

Harumi: Takejirou, having lost all his assets, though he begs from his brother, is tactfully brushed aside.
Harumi: Furthermore the 20 ryou* he gained from selling his daughter to the brothels was stolen by a pickpocket.
Harumi: Losing the will to live on, Takejirou finally decided to hang himself from a nearby willow.

Harumi: Changing the subject, Horiuchi Yutaka discovered that the president of the office she is affiliated with had skipped town.

Harumi: It could have been better if it ended there.
Harumi: Asking around, she learns that from before this company could not make ends meet and was plagued by large amounts of debt.

Harumi: That president, who ran off with their money, well, being an unexpectedly low bastard,
Harumi: had made Yutaka sign to be the company’s co-signer when making her contract, it turns out.

Harumi: In the end, Horiuchi Yutaka was suddenly forced to shoulder a massive debt.
Harumi: The unexpected uphill battle of life is exactly what this is.

Harumi: With the punch line that "the dream was the weariness of the warehouse"* the tale of "Mouse Hole" comes to a close.

Harumi: This tale tells us that our daily anxieties make us see bad dreams, does it not.

Harumi: If the misfortune that Yutaka-san saw was to be a dream,
Harumi: How saved she would have been.
