My plan is to close down the account over the next few weeks, delete most of the translations and archive them online independently.
While doing a bit of clean up before I get started on a really really long translation project, I was thinking how this useful this has been during the translation exercise, and it hasn't been much use at all. At first I thought I was going to post up the whole proofreading exercise, but I got away from that and kept it private. I started combining more and more steps and did more and more of before I posted the "raw" version. Keeping track of versions and then mirroring edits online was more of pain than I had thought.
Then there was the possibility that readers could comment and help on writing and the such, but readers hardly did that. The best help was for the early chapters of Natsu no Zenjitsu. There was also the possibility that scanlators might take advantage of the particularly liberal use policy and proofread and rewrite the script to make it better; if the writing turned out really well, I could enjoy it even more than my own work or something like that. However, the few that scanlated either took the script verbatim or depended on me to make necessary corrections and the result was always unsatisfying in someway. That wasn't what the liberal use policy was intended to do.
I thought I might feel out the community for good proofreading and writing talent, but that effort never got off the ground. I ended up fighting my battles with proofreaders who were too inconsistent with vital rules or with proofreaders who were too pedantic about grammar - the same battle I've been fighting ever since I joined the community. Over time, I compiled a series of notes on prescriptions for expressing certain ideas and meanings in English. Maybe that will eventually attract some talent or perhaps be useful to someone.
In the order that they that will eventually be taken down:
Shima Shima, Piano no Mori, Giant Killing, Mizu to Gin, Natsu no Zenjitsu, Mugen-tou, Hakui no Kanojo.
I'll probably leave Subaru up.
