(TN- I didn't know it before, but after reading this it's pretty clear. Hashi is 'Bridge' and Me is another word for 'Woman'. Hence the curse of the bridge woman. I don't feel like changing it to that now, so it remains Hashime.)

Kanno: Since then, any couples who cross that bridge are a target of Hashime-sama's jealousy.

So if a girl takes a look into her terrifying eyes of the other world..

Her man is kidnapped by Hashime-sama....or well that's how the legend goes.
