Bleach 236

Script Notes: Another liberal/literal hybrid this week from yours truly and Miss AkiDot. Suffice it to say that this volume has definitely got to be my favorite since the infamous "end of hypnosis" themed v20. There's no real news to report that I think you guys haven't heard for this week so I'll just remind you guys on some future Bleach release dates:

v23 - August 4th
v24 - October 4th

Both volumes have not had their cover characters or titles revealed yet.

Anyway, see you guys again when the raw comes out!

一護「ルキア！！」
Ichigo: Rukia!!

ルキアを掴むグリムジョーの手が光る
(A glow begins to emanate from Grimmjow's grasp on Rukia's face.)

一護「ぐ…く…そォ…ッ！」
Ichigo: G...od... damn... it!

しかしその時グリムジョーの腕が衝撃で弾かれる
(The Cero leaves Grimmjow's hand, but his grip and aim are broken by an outside attack.)

何が起こったかわからない一護、ルキア、グリムジョー
(Ichigo, Rukia, and Grimmjow are stunned at the development.)

？「やれやれ。ホンマは死神の戦いに手ェ出すんいややねんけどなァ…」
Hirako: Cripes. Shinigami affairs forcing my hand; to think it'd come to this...

Bleach c236 - The Sun Already Gone Down

平子登場
(Hirako arrives.)

平子「しゃァない。こんだけ近くでドンパチやられたらシカトするワケにもいかんしなァ」
Hirako: Eh, whatever. Can't exactly be in the same neighborhood watching this all happen and have it sit will with me, now can I?

驚く一護
(Ichigo's taken back.)

一護「…平子…」
Ichigo: …Hirako…

グリムジョー「…何だてめえ。こいつらの仲間か？」
Grimmjow: ...Who're you supposed to be? Another joker in their crew?

平子「なんでやねん」
Hirako: Why a joker?!

Translation Notes: The little bit about Hirako being a joker was an editorial insertion. Really, now that I think about it, Aki's rewording here takes away from the emphasis that Hirako doesn't so much claim that he hates his relationship to Ichigo as he is that Grimmjow's suggesting that the two are linked outright. Still, Hirako's a trickster-type character, so it fit and I left it in.

グリムジョー「じゃあ何だ」
Grimmjow: Your name then?

平子「何でもええやろ」
Hirako: Whatever you say.

グリムジョー「違いねえ。てめえが誰だろうが…」
Grimmjow: Don't brush me off. I said I want a name to that mug of yours...

一護に刺さった刀を抜き飛び出すグリムジョー
(Grimmjow proceeds to pull out his Zanpaku from Ichigo's forearm.)

グリムジョー「てめえを殺すには関わりねえことだ！！」
Grimmjow: In any case, butting in here's earned you a death sentence!!

平子避ける。ドォンと爆発
(Hirako sidesteps as the attack devastates the area behind him.)

平子「あ～～あ。アンタもうちょい加減して戦えや。俺がかわすたんびにそないガンガン壊しとったら、俺気ィ 引けてかわされへんやろ」
Hirako: Ah~~hh, you need to show a bit more restraint, jack. Banging up everything around here'll get me pumped up even more and break my concentration.

Translation Notes: The inadvertant reference to Grimmjow's surname in Hirako's first line is another insertion on our part. Not really on the level of some of the other puns we've done, but we were a bit bored and put something in more subtle.

笑いながらとびかかるグリムジョー
(Grimmjow lets loose a cackle as he heads for Hirako.)

グリムジョー「それでかわしたつもりか、あァ！？」
Grimmjow: Oh, so that pathetic shuffle there took actual effort!?

顔に手をかざす平子
(Hirako brings his hand up to his face.)

平子「全く血の気の多いやっちゃな」
Hirako: You really should keep that blood pressure down.

平子、虚化
(Hirako, as a Hollow.)

グリムジョー「！」
Grimmjow: !

斬りかかる平子
(Grimmjow assaults Hirako.)

グリムジョー「てめえその仮面…やっぱりあいつらの仲間かよ！」
Grimmjow: That fucking mask... I knew it, you guys are chums after all!

平子「なんべんも言わすな。誰でも良えやろ」
Hirako: Well, hate to be a broken record, but 'whatever you say.'

弾かれるグリムジョー
(Grimmjow is flung away.)

そして刀を前に構える平子
(Hirako points his blade at the enemy.)

平子「済まんなァアランカル。あんた強そうやから…加減は無しや」
Hirako: End of the line, Arrancar. You definitely strike me as the strong type... so no handicaps for you.

グリムジョー（バカな…虚閃だと！？）
Grimmjow: (Can't be... that a Cero!?)

なんと虚閃を放つ平子
(Hirako releases a Cero blast.)

直撃のグリムジョー
(Grimmjow is hit dead on.)

グリムジョー「ごほッゲほっ…くそッ…！はっはっ…くそ…ッ！」
Grimmjow: Gahggg... Shit...! Haaaahhhh... SHIT...!

倒れかけてるグリムジョーに平子が近寄る
(Grimmjow, in a prostrate position, is approached by Hirako.)

平子「とっさに自分の虚閃をぶつけてダメージを削ったか…やるやないか」
Hirako: Using your own Cero to cushion the damage from mine at the last moment... not half-bad, I have to admit.

刀を構えるグリムジョー
(Grimmjow takes up his sword.)

グリムジョー「くそが……！」
Grimmjow: You little prick......!

平子「！」
Hirako: !

叫ぶグリムジョー
(Grimmjow bellows out.)

グリムジョー「軋れ」
Grimmjow: "Now groan!"

Translation Notes: The term here has to do with the sound made from two objects coming into contact. I initially had it "Now creak" or "Now shriek," but since we don't actually learn Grimmjow's Zanpaku's name I got snagged on my description of Grimmjow bellowing out before the release, hence "Now groan." Romanized, I guess the term would be "Kashire," though I was wrong when Hitsugaya's "Sennen Hyourou" debuted, so don't hold your breath.

しかしその時ウルキオラが現れ、止める
(Before the Shikai can manifest, Ulquiorra appears and stops the release.)

グリムジョー「ウル…キオラ…！」
Grimmjow: Ul… quiorra…!

ウルキオラ「任務完了だ。戻るぞ」
Ulquiorra: Our objective has been accomplished. We will withdraw.

空から光が現れ二人を包む
(A beam of light breaks through the sky and shines around the pair.)

一護「反膜…！」
Ichigo: Negation…!

そしてヤミーと喜助
(The panels change to Yamii and Urahara.)

ヤミーにもネガシオンが
(A beam of Negation also picks up Yamii.)

喜助「！」
Urahara: !

ヤミー「ちっ任務完了か」
Yammy: What is this shit, time's up already?

しまった！
Urahara: Damn!

ワンダーワイス、氷漬けのルピにもネガシオンが降り注ぐ
(Wanderweiss and the frozen Luppi are also picked up.)

氷が割れてルピ現れる
(Luppi breaks out of the ice.)

ルピ「…残念だったね隊長さん…ボクのこと殺せなくてさ。忘れないでよねボクの顔…次に会ったらゼッタイキ ミのその小っこいアタマ、ネジり切って潰してやるからさ！」
Luppi: ...It's bad luck you didn't finish the job here, little Captain... Etch my face into your memories... so that next time if I kill you too fast, at least you'll know from before who did you in!

場面戻りウルキオラ、一護
(The panels return to Ulquiorra and Ichigo.)

ウルキオラ「霊圧の名残りがある…どうやら新たな力を手に入れたらしいな…だがその程度か」
Ulquiorra: Shreds of that peculiar reiatsu still foul the air, boy... though in some ways, it seems novel... Regardless, I suppose this is as far as your hand can reach.

ボロボロの一護を見下ろすウルキオラ
(Ulquiorra gazes at the injured Ichigo.)

ウルキオラ「終わりだ。最早貴様らに術はない。太陽は既に俺達の掌に沈んだ」
Ulquiorra: It's futile. Any efforts exerted from now on are fatuous and inane. The sun has already reached its twilight in the palm of our hands.

Title Tie-in: A very poetic line here by Ulquiorra, for some reason I don't think I have the right words for what I felt from that line just yet. Maybe I'll have them when the raw comes out?

言い終わると同時に消えるウルキオラ達 。そして織姫。盾を張り肩をすぼめて立っている
(Both Arrancar blink out and the panels change to Orihime's perspective. She's been bound as a prisoner in an undisclosed location = Hueco Mundo?)

煽り：涙の背中は…！？
Sidetext: Behind the tears...!?

Translation Notes: Err, whose tears? No mention of anyone weeping in this chapter from what I can see, so it's probably a nod to next week. Additionally, since I've gotten some instant messages from readers asking what a "fanning" is, I'll be using sidetext more from now on.
