The Story So Far

オレの名前は、蒼月潮。中学生。
My name is Aotsuki Ushio and I’m a middle school student.

ある日オレは、蔵の中で、うちの寺に古くから伝わる「獣の槍」を発見。
One day, I discovered the Beast Spear, which had been kept in our temple cellar since olden day.

で、その時、やむを得ない事情で解放した大妖怪“とら”と、
いつのまにか妖怪退治するハメになったんだ。
And then, at the same time, I couldn’t help freeing the daiyoukai Tora.
Before I knew it, I was stuck exterminating youkai.

そんな折、死んだはずの母ちゃんが生きているとしり、大ショック。
When I learned that the mother I’d thought was dead was still alive, I was completely shocked!

そのうえ、オヤジが妖怪を討つ法力僧だったなんて。。。信じられない。
On top of that, my Pops is a youkai-fighting hourikisou!? Unbelievable.

オヤジの宗門の法力僧たちは、教えを守るため、オレたちを襲撃。
The other hourikisou of Pop’s sect attacked us in order to protect their doctine.

だけど、母ちゃんのコトをしるには、この槍をもち、
とらと一緒に旅をしなけりゃならないらしい。
But in order to learn about my mother, I have to take a trip with the Spear
and Tora.

まずは、北海道をめざして出発！！

人： 大丈夫ですかっ？
Person: Are you all right?

厚沢： ああ。。。なんとか。。。
Atsuzawa: Yes…somehow…


記者： 事故機内で恐ろしい体験をしたそうですが、
一体どんな！？
Reporters: You had the terrible personal experience of being inside the plane
during the accident. What was it like?

記者： みんながバケモノのほかにも髪の毛長いおかしな少年も
いたといってるけれども、キミはみたのかい！！
Reporters: Everyone is saying there was a bakemono and also a strange, long-haired boy,
but did you see them?


勇： バケモノはいました。。。その人もいたような気はしますが。。。
Yuu: There was a bakemono…and I think there was someone like you described…


勇： 蒼月くん。。。！
Yuu: Aotsuki-kun!

勇： わたしはすぐに気絶しちゃいましたから。。。
Yuu: But I fainted almost immediately…

潮： うへー！　全部テレビ局の車だぜ、たいした騒ぎになってんな。
Ushio: Uhe! With all the TV trucks, there’s a big ruckus.

とら： なー、ずらかってよかっただろー、わしゃ、人間いっぱいいるのは好かん！
Tora: Yeah, good thing we skipped out. I don’t like all those humans around.


潮： それにしても、このカッコだけで来ちまったから、
目だって仕方がないなー。
寒いし。。。
Ushio: At any rate, I can only hide the shape this much. I can’t help it being conspicuous.
Brr, it’s cold…


とら： ならスグ、あのカナモノでできた 乗りもんに乗って行っちまおうぜ。
Tora: So, let’s go take one of those hardware vehicles!

潮： もー、ヒコーキはやだ！！
Ushio: No more airplanes!!


潮： さいわい、オヤジにもらって来た一二〇万はあるし、
ゆっくり別の道で。。。
Ushio: Thankfully, I’ve got the 1.2 million yen that I got from Pops,
and we can take a different, slower way.


とら： わしゃなんでこんなのにとりついてんのかなー。
Tora: Why am I haunting this kind of person…

潮： キヒヒ。。。　ちゃんとムダ遣いしてみよーかなー？
Ushio: Ki hi hi… Maybe we can take a little fun sidetrip…

禰宜たち： 四人がかりで妖怪一匹仕とめられず。。。
Priests: You’re saying the four of you couldn’t kill one youkai

禰宜たち： 槍と紫暮の子供もとり逃がしたと申すのか！
Priests: And you let Shigure’s son escape with the Spear!?

Housou: W-we are ashamed…

成宗： ばかもの！　では紫暮はっ！？あやつはどうしたのだ？
Jousou: Fools! What of Shigure? What did he do?


法僧： はっ。。。しっ、紫暮は。。。
Housou: Uh…Sh-Shigure…


（箱： あの闘いによって傷ついた我らを介抱したあと。。。
我ら一人一人に茶をすすめ。。。）
(Box: After he nursed the wounds we’d incurred in the fight…
He gave us each some tea…)


紫暮： これをすすって体を休めたあと　上の方々へ伝えてほしい。。。
Shigure: After you’ve had some of this and rested, I want you to report to our superiors.


紫暮： 訳あって、息子　潮に槍をもたせて旅をさせます。
故、こうなりました！
Shigure: So that they will allow my son Ushio to take the Spear on his journey.
That is the reason for all this!

紫暮： 裁きはつつしんで、お受けいたします。
Shigure: I reverently wish to receive their judgment.

Priests: Ungh, damn Shigure!


禰宜たち： 潮は！？　その槍を持ったこどもはどこに行ったのだ！？
Priest: And Ushio? Where did the boy with the Spear go?


法僧： それが。。。我らが気づいた時にはもう。。。
Housou: That...was while we were injured…He’d already-

禰宜たち： このうつけがっ！！
Priests: You FOOLS!

僧上様： 煩悩即悟り。。。とは言え、怒りは迷いを生むぞ。。。
Soujou On the path to enlightenment, wrath will block your way.

禰宜たち： あ。。。あ、か、帰られたのですか。
Priests: Ah…Ah. You’ve returned.


禰宜たち： 僧上様！
Priests: Soujou-sama!*

*僧上様 is the title of the highest-ranked priest in the sect.

僧上様： おぬしら。。。わたしの留守中に事をおこしたらしいの。。。
Soujousama: It looks as though something has happened during my absence.


僧上様： お役目様に醜態をさらし。。。
Soujousama: You have acted shamefully toward Oyakume-sama.


僧上様： 口応えまでして。。。
Soujousama: Spoken back to her…


僧上様： おぬし達も人をさとし、教え導く立ち場の者。
二度とは言わぬからよく聞け。
次に同じことをしたら。。。
Soujousama: You are in the position to persuade and guide people in our teachings.
I will never say this again, so listen well.
The next time you do anything like this…


僧上様： 地獄に去ってもらうぞ！！
Soujousama: You will all go to Hell!!


禰宜たち： ははー。
Priests: Ye-yes sir.

僧上様： だが。。。
Soujousama: But…


僧上様： あの槍を護り、使える者を育てよ
というのが我が宗門の隠れた教え。。。
それを守ろうとするおぬしらの心はありがたい。
Soujousama: We have raised the ones who can use and protect the Spear.
That is parts of our sect’s hidden doctrine.
I am thankful that you have tried to protect it.

僧上様： どうにかせねばな。。。お役目様は嫌われるが、
やはりおぬし達のとった方法でやるか。。。
Soujousama: One way or another, though Oyakume-sama dislikes it,
I will indeed tread the path your have chosen.


僧： も、申し上げます。。。テッ、テレビに。。。！
Priest: Th-they’re talking about it…on TV!

テレビ： ここは前代未聞の飛行機事故の起きた仙台空港です。
TV: An unprecedented airplane accident has occurred here at Sendai Airport.

テレビ： 七六八便に幸い負傷された方はなく、事故の原因は。。。
TV: Thankfully, there were no casualties on Flight 768 and the cause of the accident-


男： 窓の外にでかいバケモノがいたんだよ。。。本当にいたんだよ。。。！
Man: There are a huge bakemono right outside the window! Really, it was there!


女： で、乗ってた男の子の髪が急に。。。のびたの。
手に長い棒みたいの持てて。。。
Woman: There was this boy whose hair grew incredibly fast.
He carried this long thing that looked like a staff…


禰宜たち： あ、蒼月潮にちがいない！
Priests: It was definitely Aotsuki Ushio!

禰宜たち： そうか北海道に行くために飛行機に乗ったのか！？
Priest: Ah, he was taking a plane to Hokkaidou!


僧上様： 仙台か。。。よし。。。“あの者”に追わせよう。。。
Soujousama: Sendai? All right. I will have “him” follow them.


禰宜たち： “あの者”。。。え！？
Priest: “Him”!?

禰宜たち： “あの者”は、すでに破門の身です。
Priest: But “he” has already been excommunicated.


僧上様： 今までにあやつら四人を、退けた者などいなかったのだぞ。
Soujousama: They have already repulsed four of us. But no one can do so to “him”.

Asako: Ushio!

真由子： 蒼月くーん。
Mayuko: Aotsuki-kun!


真由子： あの元気なうしおくんが休むなんて心配ねー、麻子。
Mayuko: Asako, I’m worried. Ushio’s always healthy, so why is he absent?

麻子： バーカねー、ズレに決まってるでしょう、真由子！
Asako: Don’t be silly! He’s just decided to skip, Mayuko!


麻子： プリント届けるだけで、わたしゃエライめーわくよ。
Asako: And after I took all the trouble to deliver him this print.

Mayuko: You say such things-

麻子： なにがポムよ！
Asako: Don’t pat me!

麻子： あのねー、へんなコトかんぐろのやめてよねー！！
Asako: Stop doing suspicious, weird things!


紫暮： おー、麻子ちゃんと真由子ちゃんじゃないか。
Shigure: Oh, if it isn’t Asako-chan and Mayuko-chan.


麻子： おじさん、蒼月くんにこれ渡しといて。。。
Asako: Ojisan, could you give this to Aotsuki-kun…


紫暮： そりゃ悪かったなー。
Shigure: Sorry about that.


麻子： え？
Asako: Huh?


紫暮： 遠くの親戚に急の用事ができてな。
わたしのかわるにヤツに行かせたのよ！
Shigure: He’s doing some urgent errands for a far-off relative.
I made him go in my place.


真由子： 麻子―っ。
Mayuko: Asako-


真由子： 麻子ったらーっ。
Mayuko: Asako, wait!


麻子： フン！。。。旅行にいくなら行くでそう言いなさいよ！
Asako: Fuhn! If I were going on a trip, I’d at least tell people!

化物： わしをどうすんだってええ。。。

凶羅： おまえが、この川を埋めたてる工場人を殺すから、
オレがたのまれた。。。
Kyoura: You’re killing the workers who are filling up this river.
So they called me.


凶羅： この川が臭いので、二十年前から埋めちまいたい人達がいる。
Kyoura: This river stinks. There have been people filling it in for 20 years.

凶羅： 。。。それだけだ。
Kyoura: That’s all.


化物： わしは二百年、ここにおるのだぞ！
Bakemono: I’ve been here for 200 years!

Kyoura: Throwing stones?


凶羅： バカめ！！　　年数など関係ないわ！

Kyoura: As long as you’re here, you’re just in the way!

化物： ああああっ！

化物： げええ！

化物： 待て！たっ、助けてくれっ！
そっそうだ、わしを封じろ。
おとなしく封印されてやろう！
Bakemono: Wait, spare me!
O-okay, seal me!
I’ll let you seal me with no trouble!


凶羅： だめだ！
Kyoura: No!


化物： ひ。。。ひうああ！
Bakemono: Hi…hiuaah!

凶羅： おん
Kyoura: On

凶羅： もっと強―ヤツあいねーのかよ。
Kyoura: Aren’t there any strong ones left?


男： いますよ。。。
Man: There are.


凶羅： けっ、本山か。。。
Kyoura: Keh, the Head Temple…

凶羅： またオレにフタケ坊主達のシリぬぐいをさせるのか。
Kyoura: So those cowardly priests still want me to clean up after them.


男： 本来の仏道を忘れ、妖怪を殺すことにしか
興味がなくなって破門されたあなたが、
生きてゆけるのはそれを為しているからでしょう。
弟の僧。。。
Man: You were excommunicated for forgoing the path of Buddhism
and for your sole interest in killing youkai, but as long as you live
it seems you will try to do this. Your younger brother…

Man: Uh!


凶羅： それ以上言ってみろ！　頭を粉々にしてやる！
Kyoura: Finish that sentence and I’ll break your head into pieces!


凶羅： で、何をしろと言うんだ。。。
Kyoura: Tell me what they want me to do.

男： そ。。。僧上様の命は次のものです。。。げほ。。。
Man: S-Soujousama’s orders are as follows… ~cough~


男： 仙台からある少年の足どりを追って捕らえよ。
Man: Starting in Sendai, trace the path of a young boy and capture him.

凶羅： は。。。それだけかよ。
Kyoura: That’s it?


男： その少年は、「獣の槍」を持っていれのです。
Man: This boy is carrying the Beast Spear.


凶羅： ほう、じじい共のたわ言かと思ってたぜ。。。
よし、わかった。
Kyoura: Ho, and I thought that was just more of the old men’s bullshit.
All right, I understand.

男： それと。。。その少年と行動を共にする妖怪の退治―
Man: And then you’ll need to exterminate the youkai that is
traveling with the boy-


凶羅： バカめ、そんなことあるか妖怪とガキがいっしょだと！？
Kyoura: Idiot, are you serious!? The youkai and the brat are together!?

男： で。。。ですが、事実なのです。。。
Man: I understand but it’s the truth of the matter…


凶羅： へっ、それでその妖怪強いのかい？
Kyoura: Heh, and is this youkai strong?

Man: Yes. Very.


人々： きゃーっ！！
People: Kyaa!!


潮： バッ、バカっとら、おめー鏡に映ってるじゃねーかよ！
Ushio: Stupid Tora, you were reflecting in the mirrors!!

とら： 気ィぬくと映っちまうんだ。　昼、ヒコーキ持ち上げたばっかりで
疲れてんだよっ。
Tora: I lost focus so I reflected.
I just picked up a plane this afternoon, I’m TIRED!
