Anzai: H-hurry! We have to get to the museum and stop that thing…

安西： あいつは人を殺して自分の動力に使ってやがるんだ。
Anzai: It’s killed. I have to do everything I can.


安西： うわああっ！！
Anzai: Uwaaah!

安西： その時それまで倒れたじいちゃんが教えてくれたんだ。。。
Anzai: Grandpa told me about it after it had attacked him…


じいちゃん： 信行。。。あれを。。。壊さねばならんのだ。。。あの人形を。。。
Jiichan: Nobuyuki…you must…break it…

安西： じいちゃん、あれはなんなんだよ！？
Anzai: Grandpa, what is that thing!?


じいちゃん： じ。。。じいちゃんはおそろしいからくり人形を集めてしまったんだ。。。
Jiichan: I…I collected that dreadful thing…

じいちゃん： 今から一五〇年前江戸に便七という膨大な知識と技術を持った、
からくり人形師がいた。
Jiichan: 150 years ago, there was a karakuri doll master called Benshichi,
who had incredible knowledge and technique.


じいちゃん： 彼のそれまでの経歴はまったくわからぬが、便七のつくった
茶運び人形の中には、無礼な真似をした客に切りつけるという
ものすごいものもあったらしい。
Jiichan: I don’t know his personal history, but it seems the tea carrying dolls he made
were frightfully rude and slashed at the people they served.

じいちゃん： また、彼のつくった鷹は空を自由に飛び、小鳥を獲ったという。
Jiichan: He also made a hawk that flew freely in the sky catching small birds.

じいちゃん： その天才からくり師晩年最も心血をそそいだ人形のテーマが。。。
Jiichan: The theme of the last years of the karakuri genius’s life was
dolls filled with heart’s blood…


じいちゃん： 永久に動く機巧！
Jiichan: Karakuri that would run forever!


じいちゃん： じいちゃんはそんな便七に魅せられて。。。
Jiichan: I became fascinated with Benshichi…

じいちゃん： 彼の人形を集めておったのだが。。。
どうやら。。。あれがそうだったらしい。。。
Jiichan: I collected his doll…
And it seems…it does just as he wanted…


じいちゃん： どうだ、信行。これがじいちゃんの一番苦労して
手に入れた人形だよ。
Jiichan: What do you think, Nobuyuki? This doll was the most difficult to procure.


じいちゃん： 便七の死ぬ間際の作品だ。。。！
Jiichan: The last thing Benshichi created before his death!


真由子： で。。。でも安西サン、人形なんでしょ。。。
ロボットなら原子力でっていうのがあるけど。。。
Mayuko: B-but Anzai-san, it’s just a doll…it’s not as though it’s a nuclear-powered robot…

安西： あいつはバケモノなんだ。。。井上さん。。。
昔のからくり人形は普通くじらのひげー
食い物のプランクトンをこしとる歯のような毛を使った
ゼンマイで動くんだけど。。。
Anzai: It’s a bakemono, Inoue-san. Long ago, karakuri moved by springs made from baleen-
hairs that whales use like teeth to eat plankton.


安西： ヤツのゼンマイは。。。
Anzai: This thing’s springs…

じいちゃん： 若い女の心臓の肉を巻きつけて動く。。。
Jiichan: He made them from twining the flesh from young women’s hearts…

じいちゃん： じいちゃんは便七の書いた本を調べて、それをしったんだ。。。
Jiichan: I learned this when I researched a book Benshichi wrote…

じいちゃん： 信行。。。あの人形は動かなくしなけりゃならんのだ。。。
Jiichan: Nobuyuki, that doll must be stopped…


じいちゃん： 私は博物館の館長室にガソリンを用意した。。。
便七の悪夢の結晶を焼いてしまうために。。。
Jiichan: I prepared some gasoline in the curator’s office of the museum…
To burn Benshichi’s nightmarish creation…


じいちゃん：　だが。。。ああ。。。私はいけない。。。
Jiichan: But…aah…I can’t do it now…

じいちゃん： 信行。。。
Jiichan: Nobuyuki…


じいちゃん： ヤツを。。。止めてくれ。。。
Jiichan: Please…stop it…

真由子： それで、おじいさんは。。。？
みんなはお手伝いさんと御主人が亡くなったっていってたけど。。。
Mayuko: But what happened to your grandfather?
Everyone says the maid and the master of the house passed away, but…

安西： じいちゃんは病院に運ばれた。。。死ぬことはないってさ。。。
Anzai: Grandpa was taken to the hospital…He didn’t die.


真由子： よかった。。。
Mayuko: Thank goodness…


真由子： 麻子。。。これ返す。。。
Mayuko: Asako…Take this back…

真由子： 麻子が一人でいったかも！
Mayuko: She might have gone there alone!


真由子： 安西さんあの博物館にその人形が棲んでるのね！？
Mayuko: Anzai-san, that doll lives in the museum!

安西： あ。。。ああ。
Anzai: Ah…yes.

真由子： 今もその人形がいるのね！？
Mayuko: Is the doll there now!?

真由子： 麻子！
Mayuko: Asako!

Sasaki: There’s nobody here.

麻子： 平日の夕方だからねー。
Asako: It’s a weekday evening.


麻子： おっと、こっちは展示館じゃないよ。事務室がならんでる。
Asako: Oh, this isn’t the exhibition area. Looks like office space.

笹木： そうみたいだね、中村さん。館長室とかかいてあるよ。
Sasaki: It looks that way, Nakamura-san. “Curator’s Office” is written over there.

麻子： ねえ、笹木くん　なんか　ガソリン臭くない？
Asako: Hey, Sasaki-kun. I smell gasoline.

笹木： そうかい？
Sasaki: Really?

笹木： 二人っきり。
Sasaki: We’re alone together.

麻子： なっ、なに？笹木くん？
Asako: Wh-what are you doing, Sasaki-kun?

笹木： 僕は前から中村さんのことみてたんだ。。。
Sasaki: I’ve been watching you for a long time…


笹木： 僕と。。。つきあってくれないか中村さん。
Sasaki: Will you go steady with me, Nakamura-san?

笹木： これはいける！
Sasaki: I said it!

麻子： やだァ！笹木くん。マジんなっちゃってえ！どうしたのっ。
Asako: No way, Sasaki-kun! You can’t be serious! Why?

麻子： 笹木くんもてるんでしょー。なにもあたしなんかと！
ASako: You’re popular, Sasaki-kun. Why would you want to date me!


笹木： 中村さんつきあってるヒトいないんだろ？
Sasaki: You’re not going steady with anyone, are you?

笹木： だったら、僕とつきあってみようよ。
Sasaki: So why not go steady with me?


潮： 中村―、教科書わすれちまったい！
Ushio: Nakamura! I forgot my textbook!


潮： フン、うるせーなァ、ケンカなんてどーってコトねえよ！
Ushio: Fuhn, quit bothering me about my fighting!


潮： やかましいっ。
Ushio: Shut up!

潮： オレは絵描くのが好きなんだいっ。
Ushio: I love painting pictures!

麻子： でもほらっ、笹木くんとはまだ日がね浅いからね。
Asako: But, listen, I barely know you.


笹木： 好きになるのは時間じゃないよ。
Sasaki: Love is not a matter of time.

麻子： そ。。。そりゃそうだけどさ。。。
Asako: T-that’s true, but…


番人： 館内アナウンスきかなかったのか！？
Guard: Didn’t you hear the internal announcement?

番人： もう閉館だぞー
Guard: We’re closed.

Guard: Nothing for it, you’ll have to go out the back.

笹木： すいません。
Sasaki: Sorry.

笹木： もう少しだったのに。
Sasaki: I was so close.

麻子： うしおならこんなときケンカだな。
Asako: Ushio would’ve started a fight.

番人： ほら、すぐそこの裏口からでな！
Guard: Okay, now go out the back entrance there!

笹木： はーい。
Sasaki: Yes sir.

番人： たく、今の若い者は博物館にきていちゃつきやがって。
Guard: Jeez, young people these days, come to museums…

番人： ひっ。
Guard: Hih.


麻子： あれ、急にいなくなっちゃった。。。
Asako: Huh, he disappeared pretty quickly…

笹木： なんの音だろ。
Sasaki: What’s that noise?

麻子： おじさーん、こっちでいいんだようねえ？
Asako: Ojisan, is this the way out?

笹木： うわあああ！
Sasaki: Uwaaah!


麻子： なっ、なんだかわからないけど。。。逃げ。。。よう。
Asako: I-I don’t know what it is but…let’s get…out of here.

笹木： あ。。。あわ。。。
Sasaki: Ah…aawah…

麻子： 逃げるのよ。。。
Asako: Run!

麻子： 早くっ！
Asako: Hurry!

笹木： ひいっ。
Sasaki: Hiih.

Sasaki: What’s going on? What’s with that doll!

麻子： しらないわよっ！
Asako: I don’t know!


麻子： 玄関よっ！
Asako: The lobby!


麻子： 開かないっ！
Asako: It won’t open!


真由子： 麻子っ！
Mayuko: Asako!

Mayuko: Get out, Asako! It’s a bakemono that uses human hearts!

真由子： 早く早く逃げて！
Mayuko: Hurry! Hurry, get out of there!

笹木： ひいいっ！
Sasaki: Hiiiiih!


真由子： 安西さん、ほかに出口はないの！？
Mayuko: Anzai-san, isn’t there another exit!?


安西： 左手奥に裏口がある。そこからでられるハズだ。
Anzai: There’s an exit in the back to the left. They should be able to get out there.


真由子： 麻子　裏口よ、裏口から逃げてっ！
Mayuko: Asako, the back exit! Get to the back exit!


麻子： わかってる！とっさにこっちに逃げちゃったんだわ。
Asako: I know where it is! We’ll head that way now.

笹木： あいつは向こうから来るんだぞ。。。
どうやって向こうの裏口にいくんだよ。。。
Sasaki: It came from that way!
How are we supposed to get to the back exit…

麻子： わからないわよ！
Asako: I don’t know!


笹木： ひいい！
Sasaki: Hii!


麻子： ええい！
Asako: Eei!

安西： さあ、僕たちも裏口へ！
Anzai: Okay, we’ll get to the back exit too!

真由子： うん！
Mayuko: Right!

Asako: There’s the exit! Sasaki-kun!

麻子： あぶないっ！
Asako: Watch out!


真由子： 麻子っ！！

切っても切っても伸びてくる髪のオバケ。人の頭にとりついて思い通りに操る。
It’s an obake whose hair is long no matter how much it’s cut.
It attached to people’s heads and controls them as it likes.

髪亡鬼
Hatsumouki

死人の髪から生気を吸いとり生きている。人に害を与えることはないが、
攻撃されると伸縮自在な髪の毛を盾にして防御する。手足の指が４本ずつしかない。
It lives by sucking the vitality from the hair of corpses. It can’t be hurt by humans but
when it’s attacked, it can shield itself with its telescoping hair. It only has 4 fingers and toes
on its hands and feet.


とら： 髪消霊がワクワク飛んでいると、一人の老人を見つけた。
頭にとりつこうとしたが、実は老人は髪亡鬼だった！普段は
やさしい髪亡鬼も怒るとコワい。髪消霊は毛をすべて抜れてしまった！！
Tora: Hatsushouryou came flitting up and finds an old man. It attaches to the man’s head,
but the old man is really Hatsumouki! Usually gentle Hatsumouki becomes angry
and scary. All of Hatsushouryou’s hair falls out!

剣の中にやどる化け物。切っても切れないが、目を切れば効果あり。
It’s a bakemono that dwells inside a sword. It cannot cut or be cut, but cuts to its eyes are effective.

竜巻を操り、なんでもズタズタにする真空を作ることができる。
ほかの竜巻と合体して地獄の竜巻となる。
It can control tornadoes by making a vacuum that tears things to pieces.
When it combines with other tornadoes, it becomes Hell Tornado!

潮： 「俺様は切っても切れない影鬼様だあ。おや？なんだこの風は。。。
ああっ、おまえはラッドール！！」
「へへへ、ワシはなんでもズタズタに切ってしまう真空を作りだせるのさ」
「うわあぁ切るな。俺の弱点の目を切るなぁ」というわけで、
弱点をさらけだしていた影鬼が負けてしまったのでした。
Ushio: “I am the great inseparable Kageoni! Huh? What’s with this wind… Ah! You’re Raddouru!”
“Heh heh heh, I’ll create a vacuum to tear everything to shreds!”
“Uwaah, don’t cut me! Cutting my eyes is my weakness!”
So, in giving up his weakness, Kageoni is defeated!
