ミンシァ： 私は。。。今もおぼえている。。。
あの日この地を訪れた　一人の男のことを。。。
Min Shia: I remember it…even now.
The day a man came from that other world…

ミンシァ： 微笑むことしか知らなかったわたしに
重い哀しみとー
Min Shia: A man who taught me, who had only known laughter,
about terrible sadness-

ミンシァ： もうひとつの感情を教えてくれた人。。。
あの時、わたしの中で何かが変わったのだと思う。
Min Shia: And about another feeling…
Back then, something inside me changed.

女： ねえ　ミンシァ。
Girl: Hey, Min Shia.

ミンシァ： え？
Min Shia: Hm?

女： なんで　あなた、季王の求愛を受けないの？
Girl: Why don’t you accept Riou’s advances?

ミンシァ： そんな。。。わたし、まだ早いと思うし。。。それに。。。
Min Shia: Come on! I just think it’s a little soon. Besides-

女： まだミンシァには、わかってないのよ！
あたしなら受けるのになあ。
Girl: Min Shia still doesn’t get it!

季王： ミンシァ、東の桃が今日は特に色づいておる。
Riou: Min Shia, the eastern plum trees are changing colors today.

季王： 肩を並べて歌でも歌おう。君が舞ってもよいな。。。
Riou: I’ll sing a song to match their beauty and you can dance along…

季王： ええい！うるさい鳥どもだっ！！
Riou: Grr! Noisome birds!!

季王： ミ。。。ミンシァ。
Riou: Mi-Min Shia!

ミンシァ： わたし、せんせいのところへ行って、水汲んできてあげなくちゃ。。。
Min Shia: I’m going to Sensei’s place to draw him some water.

女： また、あのじーさん？どうせ、あの世捨て仙人なら自分で水ガメとばせるわよ。
Girl: You’re still hanging around with the old man? He’s a hermit sennin*.
He can make the jug fly up himself!

季王： まさかミンシァ！その人間に惚れているのでは。。。
Riou: Come now, Min Shia! You haven’t fallen in love with this human, have you?

ミンシァ： まさか！おじいさんなのよ。
Min Shia: Of course not! He’s an old man.

ミンシァ： 森のはずれて何かあったのかしら。
Min Shia: Something’s happening at the edge of the forest.

季王： ミンシァー。
Riou: Min Shia!

女： なーんだ人間か！
たまにあるのよねーまちがって迷いこんじゃうコト。。。
Girl: What! A human?
It happens sometimes. He must have lost his way…

季王： 行こうミンシァ。どうせ死体は花が埋めてくれる。。。
Riou: Let’s go, Min Shia. The flowers will cover the corpse after a while…

季王： さあ行こうミンシァ。
Riou: Come on, Min Shia.

ミンシァ： まだ息がある。。。
Min Shia: He’s still breathing…

ひょう： う。。。うう。。。
Hyou: Ugh…Ungh…

ひょう： ハイフォン。。。
レイ。。。シャ。。。
Hyou: Hyphon…
Rei…sha…

先生： うーむ。
Sensei: Hmm.

先生： 左目がえぐられとる。。。まる一昼夜、
手当てもしないで山の中を歩き回ったんだな。。。
アホが。。。
Sensei: His left eye’s been gouged out. He’s been wandering around
the mountains without medical care for a day and night.
Foolish…

ミンシァ： 助かりますか。。。せんせい。
Min Shia: Can you save him, Sensei?

先生： それだけんどもよ。。。ワケありのヤツは助けんほうがこいつのためかもなァ。
Sensei: That’s not it…It may be that it was his intention not to be saved.

ミンシァ： そんな！お願いです　助けてあげてください！
Min Shia: No! Save him, please!

ミンシァ： この人は、倒されながら誰かの名前を呼んでたんです。
たとえ死んでも、その思いは残るわ！
往生できない魂が生まれるのをわたしは見えたくありません。
Min Shia: As he lay there, he called out names.
If he dies, those feelings will remain!
I don’t want to see him become a soul that cannot pass to the next life.

ミンシァ： お願いです！
Min Shia: I beg you!

先生： 。。。ふーむ、いつもおとなしいミンシァにそこまでいわれると
人肌ぬがんわけにゃいかんな。。。
Sensei: Hmm. I thought it impossible for you to shed the usual calm manner
you’ve spoken with up to this point, Min Shia…

ミンシァ： す。。。すいません。
Min Shia: I-I’m sorry.

先生： ええと確かこの辺に。。。
Sensei: Um, it’s has to be here somewhere…

先生： あったあった！百年霊土の中にあった、青紫水晶を磨いて
できた翠竜晶。
Sensei: Ah, here it is! A water dragon crystal made from a polished blue crystal
kept in holy ground for 100 years.

先生： これをこの男の目のかわりにしようか。。。
Sensei: We’ll put this in place of the man’s eye.

ミンシァ： せんせいありがとう。。。
Min Shia: Sensei, thank you…

せんせい： ええよ。
Sensei: It’s nothing.

季王： ミンシァはどこか知らぬか？
Riou: Do you know where Min Shia is?

女： あれからずーっとじいさんのトコに通いづめよ。
あの人間が気になるのねー。どうする季王？
Girl: She’s been spending all her time at the old man’s place.
She’s anxious about that human. What will you do, Riou?

女： きゃははは
Girl: Kya ha ha ha

季王： ううむ。。。
Kiou: Hmm…

ミンシァ： あの人の具合はどうですか？
Min Shia: How is he doing?

先生： 片目以外は完璧だな、うん。
Sensei: Aside from his eye, he’s perfectly fine.

ミンシァ： そうですかよかった。。。
Min Shia: Really? Thank goodness.

先生： しかし。。。変わった男よなあ。
Sensei: But…he’s a strange man.

ひょう： うわあああ　バケモノめええ！
Hyou: Uwaaaah! Damned bakemono!

先生： なーにとちくるっとる？
Sensei: What’s all this now?

先生： 禁！
Sensei: Kin!

ひょう： あなた方は。。。？
Hyou: Who are you?

先生： わしはただの世捨て人よ。道士と呼ぶヤツもいるけどよ。
Sensei: I am just a hermit. Some call me a doushi*.

*a person of high morals, Tao spiritualist

先生： こっちはミンシァ。。。ちょっと前まで人間界にいた。
おまえには受け入れにくいだろうが、桃の精霊よ。
Sensei: This is Min Shia. Before, you were in the human world.
This may be hard for you to accept, but she is a plum tree spirit.

先生： おっと夢じゃねえぞ、ここも現のうち。
Sensei: This is not a dream. This place is real.

先生： 桃花源。。。人呼んで桃源郷さ。。。
Sensei: This is Toukagen…called Toukakyou by some…

ひょう： 桃花源。。。読んだことある。。。
桃が咲き乱れ時がその流れを止めた楽園境。。。
Hyou: Toukagen? I’ve read about it.
A paradise where plum trees bloom in profusion and the flow of time stops…

先生： そうだ。。。たまにおまえのような者が迷いこむ。。。
信じられんだろうがま、帰るとしてもゆっくりしていけや。
Sensei: Exactly. Occasionally, people like you will stumble into it…
You probably don’t believe me, but, well, you should rest here before you return.

ひょう： 仙人様　わたしに仙術を教えてください！妖を滅する術を！！
Hyou: Sennin-sama! Please teach me the sennin arts! The art of destroying bakemono!!

Ｐａｇｅ　１１

ひょう： 今までのわたしなら疑いもしたでしょう。でも今は、
この奇跡にすがりたいのです！
Hyou: If I were the man I was before, I would have doubted this.
But now I will cling to this miracle!

ひょう： なにとぞ、なにとぞ術を！
Hyou: Teach me the arts! I beg of you!

先生： なんでそんなに仙術をおぼえたいのか、聞いても何もいわん。。。
Sensei: When I asked him why he wanted me to teach him, he said nothing…

先生： ま、いわれたことは何でも一生懸命にやる働き者だがな。。。
Sensei: Well, I can say that he works with all his might at everything he does.

先生： あんまり教えろとしつこんで、湖の底の龍のうろこを拾ってこれたら
教えてやるといったんだ。ま、ムリだろうがな。。。
Sensei: He was insistent that I teach him, so I told him I would if he could retrieve
a dragon scale from the bottom of the lake. It’s likely impossible, but…

先生： ミンシァ。。。
あの男に惚れるなよ。
Sensei: Min Shia…
Don’t fall in love with that man.

先生： あの男の目には、絶望と死の影がある。
いずれその淵に向かって歩み去る男だよ。。。
Sensei: In that man’s eye lie hopelessness and the shadow of death.
He is a man walking out toward a deep abyss…

ミンシァ： やだなあ、せんせい。。。わたしがそんなコワイ
人を好きになるなんて。。。まさか。。。
Min Shia: Stop, Sensei. There’s no way I could love such a frightening man…

先生： あの男はいずれ絶望に向かって歩み去る男だ。。。
Sensei: That man is walking out into hopelessness…

子： ミンシァねーちゃん。
Child: Min Shia-neechan.

子： ねえ　だっこして！
Child: Pick me up!

子： あそぼうよ！
Child: Let’s play!

ミンシァ： ごめんねー、おねえちゃん湖に行ってみたいのよー。
Min Shia: Sorry. I’m going to lake now.

子： じゃ、わたしも行くー。
Girl: I’ll come too!

季王： ミンシァ。。。
Riou: Min Shia…

ミンシァ： 季王。。。
Min Shia: Riou…

季王： 話がある、二人っきりになりたい。
Riou: I wish to speak with you alone.

ミンシァ： 話ならこのままでもできるわ。
Min Shia: We can talk like this.

季王： いや、やはりな。。。さ、子供達どいてくれ。
Riou: No, no. Children, go away.

季王： どけというんだ！
Riou: I said to go away!

ミンシァ： わっ、わたしは。。。小鳥や子供らを大きな声で脅す人はキライ。。。
Min Shia: I…I hate people who would menace birds and children so loudly…

季王： ミンシァ～
Riou: Min Shia~

ミンシァ： いない。。。まさか！
Min Shia: He’s not here- no!

先生： フツーの人間にゃ、あそこから竜のうろこを拾うことはおろか
Sensei: It’s impossible for a normal human to get a dragon scale from there.
底まで行きつけるかどうか。。。
Just to get to the bottom…

子： あっ、大きいなおさかな！
Child: Oh, a big fish!

ミンシァ： えっ。
Min Shia: Huh?

ミンシァ： だっ大丈夫ですかっ。
Min Shia: A-are you all right?!

ひょう： レイシャ。。。
Hyou: Reisha…

ひょう： ハイフォン。。。
Hyou: Hyphon…

ひょう： う。。。
Hyou: Ungh…

ミンシァ： よかった。。。
気がついた。。。
Min Shia: Thank goodness.
He’s coming to.

先生： まったく信じられんわい。
Sensei: I can’t believe it.

先生： へっ！これで仙術とやらを教えなきゃならんか。
Sensei: Heh! I guess I’ll have to teach you the sennin arts.

ひょう： ほっ、本当ですかっ！
Hyou: R-really!?

先生： その前にミンシァに礼をいうんだな。。。湖からおまえを
運んできてから服も着ずにおまえの看病をしてたんだからな。。。
Sensei: You should thank Min Shia before that.
She’s been nursing you since she brought you from the lake,
without even stopping to put clothes one…

ミンシァ： きゃっ。
Min Shia: Kyah!

ミンシァ： いや、わたしはただ。。。
Min Shia: No, I just-

ひょう： よろしくお願いします！！
Hyou: Thank you so much!!

先生： めんどくせーなァ。
Sensei: What a pain.

先生： 人の血肉をそなえたまま生死を超越し、
天地と一体になる、これが真の悟りだ。
本来なら、それをもって仙道とするのだが、
おまえには必要なさそうだ。
Sensei: By sacrificing flesh and blood, a man transcends life and death,
and become one with Heaven. This is true enlightenment.
Once you have this, you can follow the sennin path.
You will need to achieve this.

Ｐａｇｅ　１５

先生： よっておまえが必要とするコトだけ、教えてやる。
Sensei: Therefore, I will only teach you what you must do.

先生： これは仙界の掟やぶりだからな。。。ま、年寄りのヒマつぶした。。。
Sensei: This is breaking sennin law but…well, consider it an old man killing some time.

先生： もっとも、おまえができたらのハナシだがな。
Sensei: Well, anyway, I’ll tell you what to do.

先生： 腰をおとせ、力をいれるな、頭上がるところを想像しろ。
Sensei: Lower the hip. Don’t contract the muscles. Imagine power rising up into your head.

先生： 体をめぐる「気」を感じとれ。そして練るのだ。
Sensei: Feel the ki surrounding your body. Then manipulate it.

先生： 天地陰陽の理は、人間ごときに自在になるなどと思うな。
Sensei: The font of heavenly yin and yang is from things like human free will.

先生： 符はそこから力を借りるための小さなきっかけと通路に過ぎない。。。
Sensei: A seal gives a small push and passes out strength borrowed from free will…

先生： 妖と対し、未熟な符術のみで、調伏できるのか。。。
すべての能力を、力を使って敵にそなえるのだ。
Sensei: A slapdash seal cannot exorcise a bakemono.
You must dedicate all your mental and physical strength to it.

先生： 鍛えよ。
Sensei: Train!

先生： 鍛えよ！
Sensei: Train!

先生： ほらなァ。。。辛いだろ？やめろ　やめろ！
Sensei: Come now. It’s difficult, yes? You should stop this!

先生： そんなコトして何になる？
Sensei: Why are you doing this?

先生： その傷は妖の傷か？仇討ちか？
Sensei: Is that wound from a bakemono? Is it vengeance?

先生： やめとけ　やめとけ。忘れるんだな。楽しくおかしく、
残りの人生を送ればいいだろが。
Sensei: Stop this. Forget about it. Better to live the rest of your life
with fun and pleasure.

先生： だいたい、死んだ者はよろこばんよ。。。
Sensei: It won’t make the dead happy.

先生： ほら、桃を見てみろ、こんなにキレイだ。
Sensei: Look at the plum blossoms. How beautiful they are.

ひょう： やらせてください！
Hyou: Please let me do this!

ひょう： 死んだ者のためだがわからない！。。。でも！
Hyou: I don’t know what to do for the dead, but-

ひょう： わたしはこれだけのために生きてるんです！
Hyou: This is all I have to live for!

ひょう： これをやめてしまったら、何もない。
Hyou: If I have to stop, I have nothing.

ひょう： もう。。。何もないんですよう！
Hyou: I’ll have nothing left!

先生： フン、じゃカッテにしろ。
Sensei: Fuhn. Well, do as you like.

季王： ふふっ。
Riou: Fuh fuh.

Ｐａｇｅ　１７

季王： ふん、わからんなあ。その程度の修行で音を上げてて、、、
よくもまあ妖を倒そうなどと思う。
Riou: Fuhn, I don’t get it. Give up all this practice.
how could you hope to defeat a bakemono anyway.

ひょう： 何もしないよりはましかと。。。
Hyou: It’s better than doing nothing…

季王： はん、やるだけムダだと思うよ。
Kiou: Hmph! Doing it is just useless.

季王： 行こうミンシァ。
Kiou: Let’s go, Min Shia.

箱： その時の彼の笑みがあまりに頼りなかったからか。。。
Box: Back then, you could not rely on him to smile…

箱： ほかに理由があったのかわからないが、わたしはこの変わった男に、
どんどん興味を持っていった。
Box: I don’t know if there was some other reason, but I found myself more and more
interested in this strange man.

箱： その気持ちはー
Box: That feeling-

ミンシァ： あるいはわたしの知らない、
感情だったのかもしれない。。。
Min Shia: It was possibly one I had never felt before…

子： ねえねえ、ミンシァねーちゃんあそんでーっ。
Child: Hey, hey, Min Shia-neechan, let’s play!

ミンシァ： びっくりした！
Min Shia: You surprised me!

ミンシァ： ごっ、
ごめんなさいジャマして。。。！

ミンシァ： あれえ、ほかのみんあはどうしたの？
Min Shia: Oh my, where is everyone else?

子： 南の山にハナミツとりに行ったの。
Child: They went to get honey in the southern mountains.

ミンシァ： あっ、あのー片方の目は。。。まだ開きませんか？
Min Shia: Y-your other eye…hasn’t opened yet?

ひょう： せんせいの話ではわたしの心が曲がってるから開かないのだそうです。
Hyou: Sensei says it will not open until my heart changes.

ひょう： 開けば魔を見破る目、「＿＿眼」になってくれるらしいですが。
Hyou: When it opens, it will become a jougan, an eye able to see evil spirits.

ミンシァ： 早く開くといいですね。
Min Shia: I hope it opens soon.

ひょう： ああ。。。ホントに。。。
Hyou: Yes…as do I…

ミンシァ： あの。。。うわごとで前におっしゃてた、ハイフォンさんって。。。？
Min Shia: Um…you were talking in your delirium before and you said the name “Hyphon”…

ひょう： その名を。。。
Hyou: Don’t ever-

ひょう： 二度と口にするな。
Hyou: Say that name again.

箱： わたしは恐怖した。。。この桃花源でここまでむき出しの怒りを
ぶつけられたことはなかったから。。。
Box: I was terrified. Living in Toukagen, I had never been assaulted by such a show of anger…

ミンシァ： あ、あの。。。
Min Shia: Uh…um…

ミンシァ： ごめんなさい。。。
Min Shia: I’m sorry…

ひょう： あ。。。ああ。。。
すまない。。。
Hyou: Ah…no…
I’m sorry.

箱： そういって背を向けた男の背中が、なんだが小さく見えた。
Box: Saying that, he turned his back and somehow, he seemed small.

ミンシァ： 本当にごめんなさい。
Min Shia: I’m so sorry.

子： あっ、おねーちゃんどこ行くのっ。
Child: Ah! Oneechan, where are you going?

箱： 恥ずかしかった。。。悔しかった。。。あの人にはわたしは一歩も
踏みこめない。。。
Box: I was embarrassed…mortified…I hadn’t been able to understand the man one bit…

箱： 何もしてあげられはしないのだ。。。
Box: There was nothing I could do for him…

ミンシァ： 季王。。。
Min Shia: Riou…

Ｐａｇｅ　２０

先生： ここに来て、もう１５年か。人間界じゃ二年くらいしかたっとらいしかがな。。。 術もどうやら形になってきたな。。。仙道の方はまだまだだけんども
Sensei: You’ve been here 15 years now. Only 2 years have passed in the human world though…
Your technique is really shaping up… But your sendou could use still use some work.

ひょう： ありがとうございます。
Hyou: Thank you, sir.

女： じいさん！大変よっ。
Girl: Jiisan! Something terrible!

先生： なんだあ、そうぞうしい！
Sensei: What’s all this racket?

女： ミンシァが季王にさらわれたのよっ。
Girl: Riou’s kidnapped Min Shia!

先生： へっ、強引さは男と女の間には必要なモンなのよ。
わかるか乙女ども。
Sensei: Heh, sometimes a little coercion in necessary between a man and woman.
You maidens wouldn’t understand.

先生： へっばからしい
Sensei: Heh, how silly

女： でも季王が向かったのは、北の森のはずれ、けい山の方なのよう。
Girl: But Riou was headed toward the northern forest near Mt. Kei!

先生： な。。。なんだとォ！？
Sensei: W-what!?

けい山―桃花源の北の森より先にある人間界の山。草木深く、闇には魔性が蠢く。
Mt. Kei is the mountain in the northern woods of Toukagen before the human world.
Evil wriggles through the deep underbrush there.

Ｐａｇｅ　２１

先生： 桃花源にいわれのない恨みを持ちそこの物を喰おうと狙う妖が多い。
中でも窮奇は特に獰猛だ。
Sensei: There are many bakemono not spoken of here that bear a grudge against
and aim to devour those of Toukagen.
Among them, the kyuuki is especially ferocious.

其の状、虎の如くして蝟の毛あり。人を喰うに首より始む。
It resembles a tiger with the hair of a hedgehog. It eats people up to the neck.

女： せんせいお願い　ミンシァを。
Girl: Sensei, please help Min Shia!

先生： うむ。
Sensei: Hmm.

ひょう： 待ってください。
Hyou: Wait.

ひょう： わたしが行きます。
Hyou: I’ll go.

先生： おまえ。。。
帰らんつもりだな。。。
Sensei: You…
don’t plan on coming back?

ひょう： きっとわたしのせいですから。。。
Hyou: It’s most likely my fault after all…

先生： なあ。。。お主。。。
Sensei: So…

先生： ここで暮らさぬか？
Sensei: You can't live without it?

先生： 復讐心だけを持ってつらい人間界に戻る必要がどこにある。。。
ここで畑を耕して楽しく生きるがよいではないか。。。
Sensei: Where’s the point in returning to the bitter human world only for vengeance?
Wouldn’t it be better to enjoy your life here, tilling your field?

女： そうそうそうしなよ。ミンシァだってよろこぶしさ。
Girl: Yes, yes! Min Shia would be so happy.

女： あたし達だってあんたのこと仲間ハズレにしたりしないから。。。
Girl: And we’ve missed the chance to get to know you better too…

女： あわれな。。。
Girl: How sad…

女： 男よの。。。
Girl: Poor man…

ミンシァ： 季王、とめて！もうすぐ桃花源のはずれよ。外に出ちゃうわっ。
Min Shia: Riou, stop! We’re about to leave Toukagen! We can’t go outside!

季王： オレをここまでさせたのはミンシァ、おまえだ。
おまえがオレの心をわかってくれぬからだぞ！！
Riou: You’ve forced me to do this, Min Shia!
You wouldn’t understand my feelings!!

季王： あんな男のいない外の世界で一緒になろうぞ！
Riou: We’ll be together in a world without that man!

ミンシァ： この子は。。。この子だけはゆるして！関係ないじゃない！
Min Shia: This child! Let this child go! She has nothing to do with this!

季王： 桃花源から出たら帰してやる。
Riou: She can go back when we’re out of Toukagen.

ミンシァ： そんな！
Min Shia: No!

季王： 桃花源の終わりだ！
Kiou: It’s the border of Toukagen!

季王： きゅ、窮奇！
Kiou: Kyu-Kyuuki!

ミンシァ： きゃっ。
Min Shia: Kyah!

季王： うわ！
Kiou: Uwah!

季王： 飛べない。。。！？桃花源を出たから。。。
Kiou: We can’t fly!? We’ve left Toukagen-

子： おねえちゃん。。。

子： ああ～ん。
Child: Aaah!

ミンシァ： あぶないっ！
