Title: Chapter.75
White Storm (3)

Page 28:
[Spacer paaage]

Page 29:
Rei: The moment I let go of that 7-4 Fu
I had a sensation like the surface of my fingers were being torn off.
----The moment my hand was off it
I realized it was a losing move...
I knew there was nowhere to go after that.
----But at the same time
I suddenly thought
-----If
all of the moves
I played after that were optimal

Page 30:
Rei: how far could I take this game...?
SFX: GOHH
Rei: The wind sure is strong...
Is the typhoon not going to escape into the Pacific Ocean?
It'd be nice if it didn't stop...
I have class in the afternoon. It'd be nice if they made it a half-day...

Page 31:
Rei: ......
----It's Souya-san...
Oh... He must be taking the same shinkansen...
He sure is taking an early train back...
I didn't think he was the type to stay long, but still...

Page 32:
Rei: I didn't see him interacting with other people all that much...
I didn't see him laughing or talking either...
Ever since I was a kid
I've watched him.
But in my memory, this person...
---Yeah.
has always been alone.
---That's right. It's odd.
I fought this person yesterday.
---I battled him
and I lost......

Page 33:
Rei: ---I wonder why.
I've never felt like this before...
I lost, but I don't feel tired at all.
My body doesn't feel heavy or anything at all.
While I knew there was no way I was going to win, from the beginning
I had no intention of just going in
and giving up.
---But what really felt clear to me
was that in experience and research
just due to the period of time which is our 'difference in years'
I was absolutely not catching up.
----And that I still have no idea
how to shrink that gap.

Page 34:
Rei: ---I'm not sure how to say this,
but I always saw feeling refreshed and feeling like you enjoyed yourself
even after losing
was actually really disrespectful to your opponent.
It feels like making a household shrine for your opponent
deciding on your own to go pray there and feeling unilaterally refreshed...
---It felt
like you weren't thinking of a person as a person.
---That's what I've always thought...
but
what happened in yesterday's match...?

Page 35:
Rei: Whenever I'm competing with another player
no matter what the difference between us is, my thoughts towards them
I can trace them to some degree.
But with him
it's just
completely blank.
It felt like we were in a pure-white field the whole time we played.
---And it felt really comfortable.
Somebody: Man, what was going on yesterday...
with that post mortem analysis with Souya Meijin and Kiriyama 5-dan...?
I've never seen a game like that.
The two of them just pressed forward
never saying a single thing.

Page 36:
Guys: AFter the game ended and they started the post mortem
Kiriyama suddenly started silently lining up the pieces with so much energy.
---And then
they went up to the 63rd move
and then he played 6-6 Gin
which wasn't in the actual game.
When that happened, Souya Meijn
nodded just a little bit.
I guess that 7-4 Fu really was the losing move for Kiriyama.
I suppose he say the 6-6 Gin he played in the post mortem as much more promising.

Page 37:
Guys: ---And
what came after that was amazing.
When the post mortem ended
he glanced at his fingers for a moment.
And that
was all...
Souya: 'That's how it is.'
Guys: What do you think that was...?
I'm sure I heard
the Meijin say...
'That's how it is'.
But Kiriyama
never said a single word.

Page 38:
Rei: It surprised me when that happened.
I thought he may have accidentally said what he was thinking out loud.
---It got through even though I didn't say it.
I was thinking 'There's a world like this?'.
I was in a a place
where it was quiet
bright
and nothing was scary.

Page 39:
Narr: ---After 12 hours when they had reached Sendai Station, the shinkansen stopped moving.
Intercom: Due to the risen water level of the Abukuma River
as a result of Typhoon Number 2,
we are postponing service.
Also, we have not yet determined
when operations will resume.
SFX: ZAAAAAAAA
Rei: Huh?
HUH?
Handwritten (Right): ---Stood up the moment they heard the announcement.
Handwritten (Left): Salarymen that are all used to this.
Handwritten (Rei): That was fast!!
SFX: GASHIH BAH ZAH GATA
Intercom: We are postponing service due to Typhoon Number 2.
----Once again, we are postponing service...
SFX: GAYA GAYA (Hubbub)
Rei: ------
......

Page 40:
Rei: He's asleep...
Souya-san.
Um.
Uh...
Souya-san...
What do I do?
Um
Ah-
Excuse me.
SFX: BIKUH (Surprise)
Rei: Um, it looks like the train
isn't
running anymore.
Souya: .........
...........

Page 41:
Rei: Souya-
san?
SFX: ZAAAAAAA...
Rei: They just announced they don't think they're going to resume service today...
So they said they'll refund our tickets and...
So then...
His face looks like none of this is reaching him.
We need to find
a place to stay for the night.
My heart's beating really loudly.

Page 42:
Rei: All of the pieces matched.
I felt I couldn't leave him alone
so I pulled his arm.
It wasn't that sound seemed to disappear everywhere around this person.
It was that sound
had gone from inside him.

Page 43:
Rei: How?
When did it start?
---I don't know.
But nothing reaches
those ears
anymore.
Bottom: Chapter.75 E N D
