3-gatsu no Lion 82

And so, the burnt field saga is finally over. I'll try to finish up volume 8 next weekend. Then we're on to the huge challenge that is volume 9. I'm gonna really try to get caught up to the manga in Japan relatively soon and then there's the much harder challenge of getting it actually scanlated.

Title: Chapter.82
Burnt Field (4)

Page 142:
Narr: -----It was apparent to everyone watching
that he was long past his limit.
He was slumped over, putting all of his weight on his armrest, like a puddle of mud.
Just staring at the board
like he was about to fall forward onto it.

Page 143:
Narr: ----But...
the moves those shaking fingers were doling out
much like a river of slowly overflowing lava
were red,
heavy,
and burning incredibly bright.

Page 144:
Narr: It was an intense battle.
No shogi player
could deny that
they'd like to play a game like this.

Page 145:
Narr: ----And
after a war spanning 169 moves
with one sentence Shimada-san seemed to squeeze out of himself
the curtain fell.
Narr: Ladies and gentlemen, after 169 moves, victory goes to the sente, Yanagihara Kishou.

Yana: I know I'm losing them one by one.
From shogi and from life.
But you know,
there's a ton of people I remember
which I like and dislike.
But one thing I know for sure,
Sign: The 33rd

Yana: -----is that the me that's here now
is made up of fragments of all of them.

Page 152:
Yana: These 'cords' are 'expectations'.
With hundreds and thousands of them tied onto me,
with time
they've been so heavy
that I can't even move.
But they've also bound me
and weigh me down
so I don't run away from the fear of getting covered in flames.

Page 153:
Yana: Ironic, isn't it...?
----In that case, maybe you could say it's thanks to that 'weight'
that I was make it this far without ever running away...
Wait,
I'm not gonna say thanks, though!!
Handwritten: 'Cause every time I get seriously intense!
Every single time I seriously think 'I'm really gonna die this time!!', goddammit!
Gan: Huh?!
Wh-What?!
Yana: Those people, taking it upon themselves to entrust their dreams to other people!
These people sit safe on the sidelines and say 'you've got to work harder' and 'you've got to get your head in the game' and 'Play with gratitude'!
Handwritten (In Bubble): Of course I'm gonna work hard! You don't need to tell me every single time!!!
Gan: Seriously,
what are you talking about?!
Handwritten (In Bubble): Are you crying?!
SFX: KUWAHHH BIKUHH (Surprise)
Yana: But...
next year...
I don't think I'll be able to do it.

Page 154:
Gan: Naw,
you still definitely don't know that.
SFX: PUH...
Yana: What?!
There's no way I'll make it!!
I'm gonna die if I play a game like the one I did today
again next year!
Handwritten: WH... What?! Are... you laughing?!
HUUH?!
Are you still trying to push me to work hard?!
Hold on a minute! I'm not even 60, right?!
Gan: Because you said
that same thing last year.
Yana: Huh?
...Oh, did I?
Gan: Yep, you did.
Also we're way past our 60th birthdays.
Yana: Huh?
Gan: We've got our 70th coming up next.
Yana: HUUUH?!
