A Word from the Author

The end of the century. 2 more years till the year 2000. A lot of stuff happened, huh. Like the comet showing up, weird religions becoming popular, the spirit-alien-dinosaur fads... Seems like people are being drawn to the mysterious stuff that no one really understands. Political uncertainty, government corruption, debunking the banking myths... Add in the armed conflicts, El Niño, dioxin, serial killers, and we're probably gonna look back and think "Yeah, that really did seem like the end of the century." If this sort of thing continues on just a little bit longer and gets just a little bit worse, I'm thinking maybe it's gonna turn out to be like the world of Desert Punk, heh-heh-heh...

Desert Punk: Gun Collection 2

In choosing the guns that appear in the world of Desert Punk, I've tried to select the ones that I think are the most "functional." Guns that may not be so precise, but just keep on working, no matter how harsh the environment. A high-precision gun is just a hunk of metal if it stops working. That's what I mean when I say functional guns. It's all about the skills. And Desert Punk's world is just so awesome like that.

P.S.
I was just bragging about choosing functional guns and all, but in Volume 1 of Desert Punk, I included guns like the Walther P38 and Luger P08, which really aren't all that sturdy in harsh environments. I mean, the XM-177 is so flimsy, it would burn up and die after shooting two 30 round magazines in the Kanto Great Desert, where temperatures rise above 50°C (I did include it as a weapon for tank crewmen, but I don't feel like that's much of an excuse). So I talk the talk, but still end up drawing whatever I want.

Desert Suit Concept Diagram
The desert suit is what Desert Punk & Co. must wear in order to survive in the burning, frigid, hellish, Kanto Great Desert.

Descriptions
1. Personal air conditioner; Cold, heat, and de-heater (aka Air cooler)
2. Air conditioner intake nozzle
3. Air conditioner exhaust nozzle
4. Ventilation pipe
5. Exhaust pipe
6. Cranium air pool (Where the pressure is adjusted)
7. Intake nozzle (Sucks up the dirty air inside the clothing)
8. Cranium exhaust nozzle (The nozzle that sends out clean air to the inside of the helmet and clothing, cool during the day, warm at night.)
9. Main air pool
10. Upper body ventilation nozzle
11. Arm ventilation nozzle
12. Lower body air pool
13. Lower body ventilation nozzle
14. Ultra-thin ventilation pipes (Interior of the gaiters)
15. Desert shoes independent exhaust valve (The air inside the shoes can't be reached with the ➆ intake nozzle, so the shoes have their own exhaust valves.)

The Desert Suit
The airtight suit connects with a personal air conditioner, providing the wearer with comfort regardless of the time of day. Ideally, every family would have at least one of these suits at home. Furthermore, moisture collected through the exhaust pipes can be stored in the optional filtration unit to be converted into drinkable water. In emergency situations, the tank can be filled with urine to provide drinking water.

Weaknesses
The suit is completely airtight, so if the air conditioner breaks or the battery runs out, it's bearable at night, but gets insanely hot during the day, and can really kill someone. It's actually kind of a double-edged sword.
