Berserk Chapter 287
Hi Guys. I'm not planning on translating Berserk on a regular basis, but since the threatend to stop making Berserk RTS threats, I thought I might jump in.
If this means anything to you:
I'm learing Kanji full-time right now, at a rate of a bit less than 50 a day. But it's still gonna take some thime until I really got them all, so this trans may...
-take a lot of time
-contain blanks (although I don't hope so)
-never be finished (when EG releases)
Lastly, I'm not in my comfy 2-monitor-luxury-keyboard dictionary library, but on a cheap IKEA chair with a Laptop in the middle of nowhere with no mouse.
On top of that, Kanji learing takes priority right now, so I 'll only translate in the late evening ours, when I'm to tired to remember anything (or make good translations)...
with that said, let's go.

Heh, the reason we're stopping the RTS for it is because there isn't anyone here at MH doing it on a regular basis (and there never has been). If you aren't planning to we're still going to stop the RTS next chapter. It's not like we're banning Berserk from the forums, the Berserk section will always be here as it is a popular series.
Even if you don't complete the translation it's always the thought that counts (although I hope you do find time for it <.<)
Though, Silke sucks.. Shiereke is a lot better.
Also Schierke is used in 99% of the translations.
She's a witch, her last name is supposed to be rare.
But since you wanted something more special, I'll take the less common but not too odd spelling "Sylke"
So... why remove it from RTS if its so popular? People will create releases.. Is it really that big a deal if its not swamped like Shonen that you have to remove it? I still don't see the reason. Certainly it isn't that huge of a deal. But Berserk is under-appreciated. Keeping it in RTS will allow more people to realize its levels above Shonen manga.
Anyways thanks for the translation.. I would love to start a scan group for Berserk but EG already has that role, I wouldnt mind being a FASTER group though. just need a good translator willing to translate it every few weeks or months.
Popularity doesn't gain a series entry into the RTS all the time. Otherwise there would be more series in the RTS than we can count. We put series in there judging from newness in Shounen Jump (mostly these days), popularity, and (this is the important one) if people here translate and scanlate the series on a regular basis.
In the time Berserk has been in the RTS, there has been ONE (excluding this one by Rikki-Tikki-Tavi) translation and ONE scanlation of it that wasn't done by Evil-Genius. That's one out of 14. We normally kick a series out of the RTS after two chapters if there's no response by translators and scanlators. The only reason Berserk has been in the RTS is because of the fact that we believed it was popular enough to be there and that people would work on it.
The RTS is about series that are being worked on here at MH that are also decently popular as well. A good example of one of the lesser popular series that gets an RTS here at MH is Vagabond. Mostly because it has an active translator here posting translations, and an active scanlator doing the chapters and posting them here.
In any case, we'll likely keep Berserk in for one more chapter due to Rikki-Tikki-Tavi's efforts. If translations continue by anyone here at MH, Berserk RTS will stay.
