EDIT: omake added! scroll down
Alas, it is le gran finale, but I for one have learned a lot from translating this comic and so am happy to have been a part of it.
On the bright side, this will mark the first time I've ever trans'd an entire series, so...yay.
Ya'll know the drill...
01
-That night, around the time the moon was hanging in the direct south
white: Night is the time that memories begin to turn...
black: Richelieu's Elite Guard - Lodging home for the 3rd Squad, 4th Division
-woah! I give, I give!!
-Roland is training his swordsmanship after a recent mission
-Hey, let's give it a rest. My shoulders are totally beat
-Fine. Then go get someone else to take your place
-Haa?!
-Man, what made you turn so serious these days?
02
-I must become stronger...
-So that I will never again suffer the disgrace of that night...
-Marquis Satre's personal residence
-Celine has been forbidden to step outside for the past few days
-She spends all of her time praying until she falls asleep
-Please, let Belle be safe
-Until the day we can meet again...
03
-At the cloister of Rivière Saint Michel...
-Chloe listens to tales of Belmonde and Georges day after day from the vice-Abbot before retiring for the night
-Monsieur Andre, you really love those two, don't you?
-Mm.
-I'm sure they will return safely
-And as Belmonde, master of the underground...
04-05
-He's finally confronting
-The man he was destined to meet
black: For the sake of their ideals, these men will face each other right here--!!
lower left: The final Act - That night, beneath the moonlight
lower right: (author) Ishioka Shouei
06
-Everything has proceeded according to plan
-Up until now, that is
-hmph. That plan of yours
-Is about to end in failure!
-You have no say in the matter!
07
-Medi
-Right!
-Georges...I have plenty of things I'm just dying to say to you...
-But I'll come back later
-I'll be your opponent
-I can open the "coffin" too. Best not underestimate me!
08
-Oi, Shuca
-Swirl...huh
-It's been a while since the time we met as representatives at the seven factions' annual conference...
-There's no better place than this to let go of all that murderous intent you're bottling up
-I know you want to go at it!
-Have it your way, you Lundi scum!
-We'll see who's the superior line!!
-Let's settle this while we're still in charge!
09
-Well then...
-How convenient for us that everyone has cleared out
-Before I carve your "eye" out,
-Want to grovel on your knees before me?
-Athos
-It's been a while
-I have no idea what you're doing here,
-But it's good to see you
-I thought we'd never meet again
10
-WHY!?
-Why are you after the Witches' power!?
-You must have a lot to ask, but it will have to wait
-I have to...
-deal with that man first!!
-hmph
11
-Woooaaah!!
12
-Hm? What's this?
-Looks like I can see your memories
-And I can see yours as well
-It must be because we both possess one of your "penetrating eyes"
-It's not surprising, then that this is possible
-In that case, I'll treat myself to a fight while I discover your motive behind all of this!
13
-He was a noble "in name only," originally from the French countryside
-Around the time d'Artagnan came to Paris, he had no one backing him
-Despite this, King Louie the 13th trusted him explicitly for one special reason
-The king himself had lost his power to Cardinal Richelieu, and was a king "in name only"
-d'Artagnan had to resign from the Royal Guards due to an illness
-And it was around that time that he received an unexpected summons from the king
-He's probably called me to directly offer words of appreciation
-This is a great honor
14
-However, the king which was supposed to be behind those doors
-Was not the king he knew
-d'art
-d'artagnan...?
-come...
-It's me...Louie...
-What...
-What's the meaning of this?!
-That grotesque appearance would subside once the sun rose
-The king had a fascination with witchcraft. His dabbling in it led to the decay of this body and heart
15
-I beg you...within whatever little time I have left as a human
-Before anyone else learns of this...I want you to...
-to...
-Kill me
-Since the king's body was turning into a vile, undead form,
-d'Artagnan was short on time and options
-He thus set off at once, intent on obtaining the Witches' power
-"The country will be in turmoil if they believe that the criminal escaped"
-Thus, d'Artagnan decided that the after fulfilling the king's request, he would admit to being the criminal
-He was prepared to accept the atrocious execution that would await him as a traitor
16
-Haha! Am I supposed to cry?
-You mean that's the proper end for a life of service to the king?
-Silence!
-This is the life of a true noble!
17 no txt
18
-This world's heroes choose to live such strict lives, don't they?
-I can say the same of you!
-For someone who only knows the inside of a basement, you've chosen quite a selfish way to live!
-I've never met anyone like you!
19
-Hey, about the king...
-Are you sure there's no other means then killing him?
-What do you mean?
-These past few days, I've come to appreciate
-That the power of us Witches have far more possibilities than I ever imagined
-Neither me nor you know of them all yet...
20
-Who knows? If you visit the other Bastions, perhaps you may find another way
-You mean there's a way to save him?
-Strange...why would you say such a thing?
-When I finally came to the outside, I made a goal
-I want to gather all seven "Swords of Creation" and make them mine
-But looking the Samedi you hold, I realize it's going to be rather difficult to do
-If you were on my side,
-I think it would be pretty easy to get the remaining 5
21
-You mean, call a truce so that we can accomplish our respective goals?
-That's an interesting idea you've got there
-The way you say it so easily makes me somehow want to give it a shot
-Shall I take that as a yes?
-If there actually is a means possible to save the king,
-I can't simply give up without trying
22
-Yosh! Then a temporary truce it is!
-Let's travel together
23
-Very well. However, I don't agree to making you the leader
-You'll take orders from me
-Don't be stupid
-Have you already forgotten that you owe me for the eye you took?
-You obey me
-Looks like neither of us are willing to give
-Mm...Looks like there's no other choice
-Exactly which one of us is stronger
-Let's find out--right here, right now!!
black: After this battle ends, the two will set off, together!!
white: Thank you for reading! Please look forward to Ishioka-sensei's next work! Look for the 2nd volume of Belmonde on sale sometime in January!
-END- (and this time, REALLY the end)
Or is it? Here's volume one omake:
black box: Omake manga: "Belmonde's confessional"/Act one: Roland's story
-Hello everyone, this is roland
-I would like to take this opportunity to make a couple of apologies
-I am so sorry!
-In the first chapter, I lead a prisoner that had a concealed weapon
-And then in the sixth chapter, before even slowing Belmonde down, I let Chloe steal my narrative role!
-Ah...a piece of trash like me isn't required in this manga anymore, am I?
-It would be better for the world if I were to disappear, wouldn't it?
-What do all of you think?
-What!? No one's willing to correct me!?
-Come on!! I'm not that worthless!!
2nd page
-It would be best for me to be minced into feed for the livestock, just like Belmonde said!
-And after he was eaten by the pigs...
(he's reading off the card. it's hard to read. the right side says the above line but the left side, not sure. best guess: ...the remains were used as fertilizer for the crops)
-...Exactly what are you doing, Belmonde?
-Hm? A picture story show
-Don't use my omake time to make up your own confessions!!
-Fine. Have fun
-What!?
-Please forgive my incompetence!!
small: next time, I'll do better!
-Good luck, Roland
-See you in the next volume!
-end-
Guess I should write an outro too? hrm...
Thanks for reading my translations! Hope you enjoyed them! And many thanks to everybody who chipped in - there were so many I can't count you all. Thanks for the French tips and all the advice with the names! It was fun!
...And more than anything else, thanks for the support! It keeps me going...Cheers!
