THE MACHINEGUNS VS. BIG THE BUDO

TN: Well...they've done it. It's finally happen. Just when you think the powers in Kinnikuman can't get any weirder...just when you think Yudetamago could make things any more ridiculous than it already was...they pull the "Superman" bit. You know the one: the first movie scene where Superman gets so upset by the death of Lois Lane that he screams (a lot) and then immediately flies around the Earth so fast that he reverses it's rotation, literally turning back all time so he could save her. It's probably one of the stupidest moments in a fantasy/superhero film (even if it probably fit his Golden Age/Silver Age persona of being so uber that he could do literally anything)...so considering that we knew that Yudetamago were huge fans of that film (see the gag arc) that they would end up "homaging/ripping" it for the Perfect Choujin. Alright, it isn't really "as" bad as "Superman", considering they only really go back 8 minutes and it's not like they were undoing a ton of destruction that was occurring all at once and it was just a selfish maneuver so they could prove that they can keep their perfection with their Mask-Hunts. But when you bring in the manipulation of time, particularly the means of doing so (once again "reversing the Earth's rotation" like Superman) with everyone literally conscious of it happening, still thinking the same things they were at the moment the time reversal started 8 minutes ahead, with people seeming to fly around to them (while not really doing so on the ground...dang I hate time stuff like such) and clocks literally moving backwards (note they were all regular clocks with hands and no one conveniently has an LCD watch or anything), all it does is screw with your mind and make you wonder...why the heck did we need to do this. Look, I get Yude's love of the 1978 Ricard Donner film (similarly I get they also have this weird thing for "Rocky II", considering I realized recently how similar the 2nd Choujin Olympics was to that plot), but somehow all it seems to do in my head is make this manga feel less like a manga most people love...and more like an American comic book. (which probably explains all the inconsistencies in this series, most of which have occurred in this arc)

Aside from "The Superman Bit", it wasn't too bad a chapter...and to tell the truth, aside from the stupid "reversing time" crap, the powers that the Neptune duo have with the rotation manipulations are actually rather cool. (but I cited that with "Mask the End" a few chapters ago) Though I have one more really stupid question: if Neptuneman and Neptune King have the "power of Earth" as we've seen here...then what about Suguru during his fight with Planetman? Didn't he "become Earth" in that fight...and thus could have somehow accessed Apollo Power as such by doing so? (well maybe not but it does make one think of the possibility)
