(TN: “Both of them” wasn’t part of the original Japanese: basically the announcer has in Japanese the word “taisei” which is modified by the word “Brokken Jr. no Dasshutsukou wo hasamikomu”. Thus with “taisei” after that, it is better translation as “the condition that they’re inside Brocken Jr.’s escape door”, but since it really didn’t sound proper in English, I ended up adjusting it to a better sounding part where “condition” being “with both of them” so it makes more sense in English)

BROCKEN JR. VS. PRISMAN

TN: Is it just me or does Brockenman's stature and respect grow more and more with each passing chapter he's referred in? I'll be mentioning a bit more about it in the next chapter, but somehow seeing the images Brocken Jr. has towards his dad here just seems to contradict everything we knew about him before. I mean, think about it: when Brockenman appeared in the Choujin Olympics, he did the following in this order:

1. Jumped out before the bell towards Ramenman and surrounded him with his coat.
2. Jumped on top of him in a cruel means and pounced on him.
3. Smashed Ramenman in the head with brass knuckles.
4. Breathed out a horrible poisonous gas.

Now without going into what happened next (yeah, he was that fragile to take that Camel Clutch), we could see back then that Brockenman was a pinnacle of horrible, brutal Choujin, a Nazi whose death was well deserved. And yet in this chapter, as Brocken Jr. abandons his "Choujin powers" and "speaks" to his dad, Brockenman actually looks respectable, like someone who could have been cool or a badass! This was a guy who still seemed evil and horrible even when Suguru visited the Choujin Graveyard in the last round! Then again...this is Brocken Jr. who is referring to him, so maybe there is something to Brockenman we never knew from his short appearance way, way back that Brocken Jr. knows.

Aside from that rant, this chapter seemed to solidify once and for all one thing: Yudetamago really never got anything right regarding how they wanted to treat their concept of "Choujin". This chapter's revelation of how Brocken "had been a Choujin" sort of is similar in some of the concepts we saw from Geronimo becoming a Choujin a long while back in the Tag arc: those two sort of signified the concept of the "Choujin" as seen by the way it is translated: as "Supermen" or, as better translated in my thoughts, as "superheroes". It just seems to signify that Yude sort of wanted to imagine all these characters as superheroes just like Suguru was at the beginning of the series, with different sources of powers just like there are different origins and sources for American superheroes. The problem is that while on one hand you can sort of understand that concept of the Choujin, it really doesn't exist anymore just like it did back when Suguru was fighting Kaijuu. With so many Choujin seeming to just be "born" with their superior powers and abilities and with everyone treating them like they're a separate race as opposed to "empowered humans or aliens or whatever", making them similar in some ways yet different in others just makes it all the more confusing and stupid. I get it was brought up as a means to make it "Brocken is no longer affected by the Rainbow Shower" but it just seems to make everything all the more confusing, particularly with how he suddenly goes from being super-weak to it to being immune...by just throwing his skull off his cap. (don't every superhero at least have different weaknesses? Yeah...let's not go into it anymore from here on)

Aside from the stupidity...Prisman's awesomeness just grows by the chapter. I sort of felt he looked rather generic when I first saw him, but somehow he's so insane and has such bizarre abilities (shedding body, a compass that can create shuriken...and the whole absurdity of the Rainbow Shower) that he's really gone beyond his design into a classic Choujin that only Yudetamago can make interesting. And meanwhile...considering how much teamwork has been done by Team Soldier, it does feel weird and cheap that the only "teamwork" that has been done by Team Phoenix was their Combination Tree and that Phoenix-ordained tunnel-sealing technique. It makes me want a bit more combo attacks but...oh well, we know Super Phoenix is a douche about that sort of thing from last time.
