Suguru: THE THREE KNOWLEDGES OF THE KINNIKU ROYAL FAMILY HAS STEADILY BEEN ENGRAVED IN MY HEART—
(End of Vol. 30)

TN: You know for the most part, it's really hard for me to find any particular faults or problems with this chapter: aside from the ludicrousness of the whole "elimination from existence by burning the Muscle Prophecy page tied to you", it was a heart-felt and emotional conclusion to the second semi-final and for the most part a heroic death sequence for Ataru. (even if he's not...quite dead yet) It's strange to say it but as out of nowhere as he seemed at times (and with his own bizarre moments like...his magic priest robe), Ataru was someone you really did feel for and really did feel like part of this universe after all is said and done. Yeah some of this is schmaltzy, but he is a genuine character who cares about Suguru and his parents as we've seen here. There is also a bit of genuineness I see in Phoenix too...but for him it's more the "little kid who never had power before and suddenly wants to use his new abilities to burn ants like he has a magnifying glass", but that I'll get more on later.

Though it is mostly a solid ending, the main nitpick I have with this chapter is just the usage of the "Three Knowledges"..which really don't seem like anything new in my head. In fact, if you think about it, what Ataru is telling how Suguru to act as king...is exactly the same as how he acted way back in his superhero days at the start of the manga! I don't get why Suguru really needs to relearn these lessons...the only thing it really does serve to do is remind us the truth about this series as it was: Choujin are superheroes first and foremost and all the wrestling matches just seem like window-dressing to make it seem like an even greater crisis. Of course with the Kinniku Royal Family being the "Ultra Family" of this universe, it's obvious they have the biggest deal regarding their job, but somehow other than reminding that this used to be a superhero-homage series, it really didn't do much and felt a tad heavy-handed. I guess I can say it as such: it worked as a reminder of "Choujin are superheroes first and wrestlers second"...and it didn't in how it was done.
