With their skills honed and their new trump-cards prepared, Team Kinnikuman is finally ready for the final phase of the Scramble for the Kinniku Throne! But are they completely ready for everything this last round entails?

Chapter 339: Scramble for the Kinniku Throne (66): The Curtain Rises! The Bloody Battle of Osaka Castle!!

67.
Suguru: This is the Perfect Muscle Spark, docking the Suguru-Edition and Ataru-Edition Muscle Spark!!

68.
Robin: Th…this is the Perfect Muscle Spark, one of the Three Great Secrets of the Kinniku Clan!!
Caption: KOUBE—
Phoenix: It…can’t be: the Perfect Muscle Spark, said to be the hardest to master even among the Three Great Secrets of the Kinniku Clan, seems to be mastered by that idiot Choujin Kinnikuman…!!

69.
Caption: YAKUSHIMARU TEMPLE—
Robin: Ooh…isn’t these the dolls used for practice that Kinnikuman and Terryman each performed the Suguru-Edition and Ataru-Edition Muscle Spark on…
Robin: Right: while watching the image of the Perfect Muscle Spark that’s reflecting in the mirror-surface lake, that Kinnikuman abandoned the practice-use dolls that he came to not have for long and waged the Perfect Muscle Spark on Terryman, a living Choujin---!!

70.
Robin: N…now the 50% Suguru-Edition and 50% Ataru-Edition have become one, completing the 100% Perfect Muscle Spark---!!
Suguru: Uuh…my balance……!!
Robin: What’s wrong, Kinnikuman!?
Phoenix: Ooh! That’s!?

71.
Phoenix: We’re were going to confirm after a long time whether Kinnikuman’s Perfect Muscle Spark was completed or failed, so then what’s going on!?
Prism: It seems it caused a short on the machine inside the screen.
S. Teacher: How could you say that: it broke down at that important moment…
Phoenix: …However, Kinnikuman earlier appeared confused: ultimately he has yet to completely master the Perfect Muscle Spark.
S. Teacher: Though you’re fine with Kinnikuman, what are you going do about Ramenman and Warsman: those two will perfectly smash Prisman and Mammothman.

72.
Prism: Satan Cross: we’ve thought perfectly about that matter: if those two have mastered plans for defeating us, then it’s better to smash them before they appear in the ring of Osaka Castle.
Mammoth: First I’ll make a victim of Warsman.

73.
Phoenix: So then, we too should soon be going to Osaka Castle, the place of our bloody battle with Team Kinnikuman.
Robin: Are you alright, Kinnikuman?
Suguru: Worry about Terryman more than me…
Robin: You showed it, Kinnikuman.
Terry: That…was indeed an impact to we…wear down my body…

74.
Suguru: Thank you Terry, Robin…
Suguru: Well, let’s finally start the bloody battle of Osaka Castle against Team Phoenix!!
Neptune: Well shall I go to watch at the ringside of Osaka Castle…
Narrator: Thus the trio of Kinnikuman, Ramenman and Warsman who were scattered in several parts of Nara for their special-training to defeat Team Phoenix—
Narrator: With both the special training that covered them in blood and sweat and the cooperation of a mysterious man, somehow mastered their plans to defeat the opponent Choujin aiming for them a day before the start of the bloody battle of Osaka Castle.

75.
Narrator: And so, it was the day of the match—
Narrator: The Idol Choujin, who had ended their special-training, before long healed their bodies that were injured by their training and rushed straight to Osaka, the place of their bloody battle with Team Phoenix.
Robin: Kinnikuman, do your best! We’ll be disqualified if we’re overdue by the time of the start of the match!!
Suguru: While you’re saying that, we’ve been continuing to run without eating or drinking since leaving Nara: can’t we collect ourselves…
Robin: Ooh, Kinnikuman: look there!!
Robin: We’ve finally done it and come here!! Ramenman and Warsman may have already arrived; let’s hurry!

76.
Wars: Uuh…my body has been severely injured by my bamboo spear special-training: I won’t make it I think…
Wars: And yet my field of vision is obstructed due to this thick fog; I’ve gbeen going around to the same places for several hours: perhaps I haven’t even left from Nara yet…
Mammoth: …of course: it’s as you’ve said. This is the land of Nara!!
Wars: Ge—you’re Mammothman!!
Mammoth: Warsman, you’ve seemed to have thought of a plan to defeat my Nose Fencing and Big Tusks, but…we should test whether or not you can really practically use it!

77.
Mammoth: Nose Fencing---!!
Wars: My special training: remember my bamboo spear special-training…
Wars: I see it!!
Wars: Sorya---!!

78.
Mammoth: You s**t: Big Tusk 1!!
Wars: I see it--!!
Wars: Ta—
Mammoth: Big Tusk 2!!
Wars: This is all the same as my special-training: I’ll avoid the Big Tusk with my Warsman Smile!!
Wars: Warsman Smile!!

79.
Wars: How’s that—Mammothman, I’ve completely avoided your attacks---!!
Mammoth: Have you really?
Mammoth: Big Tusk Drill!!
Wars: Ge! The Big Tusks are rotating!!
Mammoth: How’s that: though you’re a computer you hadn’t calculated that my Big Tusks will end up rotating!! Fuhahahaha: you’re going to perish in the land of Nara---!!
Wars: Ugyaa, Kinnikuma—n!!

80.
Announcer: Three days have passed since the heroic Sekigahara Fighting Castle Semi-Finals, which were washed of blood with blood, and it is from here at Osaka Castle, that we will be holding the bout of the Scramble for the Throne Survival Match Finals: Team Kinnikuman vs. Team Kinnikuman Super Phoenix!!
Announcer: It is here at Osaka Castle Hall, which is adjacent to Osaka Castle, that the Choujin of both teams participating in the Finals are entering the meeting grounds one after another having completed their special-training!!

81.
Suguru: Huff huff, gyuudon is fine, but it really is best to have takoyaki when you come to Osaka!
(TN: Though you probably know of takoyaki, the fried octopus dumplings, what’s not as well known is that it originally became notable and popular in Osaka due to a vendor there who initially sold it in 1935)
Ramen: Yo, Kinnikuman and Robin, it’s been a while. You seemed to have done well with your special-training.
Audience: Ah, Team Phoenix has come as well!!
Suguru: Hmph: doing such a showy entrance is for weaklings.
(TN: Takes one to know one)
Suguru: Hie~~
Ramen: …While we’re at it, I don’t see Warsman here.
Suguru: He should have finished his special-training and come towards here, but he hasn’t appeared here at all.
Harabote: Alright, here’s where I’ll explain the important points of the Scramble For the Throne Survival Match Final Tournament!!

82.
Harabote: Both teams will be fighting in a team competition, the same as until now; you will begin by defeating your opponent Choujin in this Osaka Castle Hall.
Caption: OSAKA CASTLE HALL / OSAKA CASTLE
Harabote: Every time you win through, you will rapidly
Harabote: Progress towards the top of Osaka Castle.
Harabote: The Captain leading the team that wins through finally will clear the way to the top floor where the Great King and queen are, become the Great King of the Kinniku Clan and will get their hands on the Great King crown.

83.
Suguru: Since we’re fine with that troublesome explanation already, let’s hurry and go inside the hall.
Suguru: Wh…what: isn’t this door unperturbed---!!
Harabote: To open that door, all of you must have all together the items that you’ve obtained from the opposing team from your battles in the first and second rounds.
Suguru: Eeh, items: we didn’t hear about that---!!
Harabote: It’s the blood of the Fated Princes of the opposing teams you’ve defeated until now!!
Suguru: Ooh!!
Suguru: Alright, here it is—the cape died with the blood of the Fated Princes---!!
Phoenix: Here’s the item that’s bottled with the fresh blood of the Fated Princes---!!

84.
Suguru: Ge!! Hand-prints on the door!!
Harabote: It seems the first door has to have permission for all of you to enter inside. Open the door by gathering together the power of the 5 Choujin teammates and go inside.
Phoenix: Let’s go!

85.
Robin: We can’t open the door without gathering the power of five…however, the Choujin that are here are four, if we add Meat-kun; we can’t open it.
Suguru: --Really, that Warsman, what is he doing---!
Mammoth: Warsman isn’t coming here!
Suguru: What is this?
Suguru: Ge—this is Warsman’s mask!!

MAMMOTHMAN ATTACKING WARSMAN

TN: I should have mentioned it at the end of the last chapter, but I think it bares asking right now: what was Suguru thinking in performing the Muscle Spark on Terry like that!? I get that he had to perfect the Muscle Spark, but to somehow magically go away from the dolls, move right over to Terry and just do the perfected technique like he has a photographic memory of the previous day (or...still has his Burning Inner Strength), but doesn't he even realize the consequences of what he just pulled? By moving away from the dolls and right onto Terry, he was essentially eliminating one of his own members before the climactic final battle where he needs whatever team he can put together to face Phoenix's crew! It's horrible enough to imagine Robing seeing both of them in the lake reflecting the Perfect Muscle Spark considering it will turn into overlapping bodies as opposed to the two performing true technique aligned with the dolls, but to have Suguru suddenly pull that and eliminate probably his first and closest ally in the entire series just so he won't fight in the final battle...wasn't very good thinking on his part. (and yeah, as I mentioned before: the first Choujin rival Suguru ever met had his last "battles" already in the proper series with King the 100 Ton and that "stand around and take abuse" by Motorman, the weakest Choujin in the tournament...and yes, I finally realize Motorman is the weakest because Mammothman is just 'that good' to kill Leopardon like that with his genius) So essentially thanks to perfection, there goes Suguru's greatest rival...well until two one-shots many years later that take place during this era.

And while we're talking about "smart Choujin doing stupid things", let's speak about Warsman for a moment. When you've already mastered essentially the means by which to defeat Mammothman a day before, shouldn't you just be relaxing and resting for the final battle? I know Mammothman ambushed him, but Warsman looked like he decided to take literally no rest at all and continued his training over and over before Phoenix's teammate ambushed him...and revealed the drill ability he probably didn't want to show until the finals. If he just rested for a bit, then headed straight to Osaka, then none of this would have happened and they wouldn't be down to 4 teammates in the hall right now! (though even crazier is Mammothman: while for once I can't really complain about the "running to the finals" since Kobe and Nara are equal in distance on opposite ends to Osaka, Mammothman literally ran all the way from Kobe to Nara...then ambushed Warsman...then ran back to Osaka in time to open the door with the rest of Team Phoenix...and of course with them not "flying anymore", the big guy must have run really...really...fast) At least Ramenman left before any attack could happen...then again we saw Prisman skydive into Osaka so he probably has a short-term memory...while as we all know, "An elephant (or...a guy with mammoth pelt on his head) never forgets".

One more silly thing: this chapter really shows how far Kinnikuman has come from the year it started to where we are at this time in history. Back in 1979, we had Suguru living it up with the crazes of the period (from the hero phenomenon to his crazy disco suit). But here we are in 1986...and we get an explanation of the tournament in "8-bit NES/Famicom" fashion! (almost like they're playing "Kung Fu"...heck I think it is "Kung Fu") But be forewarned: this is only the beginning of "the vengeance of the 80s" in the Osaka finals...
