Kinnikuman Oneshot : Kinnikuman's Wedding

Kinnikuman's Wedding

en
+ posted by StrangerAtaru as translation on Mar 30, 2010 00:22 | Go to Kinnikuman

He had gone from an idiot abandoned on Earth as a baby to the greatest hero in the entire universe to finally reclaiming his birthright to the throne of his home planet! But just when you think the battles of Kinniku Suguru is finally over and done...there are still a few "friends" who want to have one last crack at him!

Kinnikuman Epilogue Chapter:
Kinnikuman's Wedding
(As written for the 29th anniversary of Kinnikuman and 40th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump; published in “Volume 37”)

1.
Left Caption: THE LEGEND ENGULFED IN GLORY, REVIVES HERE!!
(TN: Most of the rest of the captions are pretty much ads and such for Jump’s 40th anniversary and Kinnikuman stuff, including Kinnikuman Nisei in Weekly Playboy)

2.
Right Caption: The legendary fierce fights of the warriors of justice, which 80s Jump readers continue to be wildly enthusiastic about, is resurrected!!
Narrator: A fighting being who possesses a unique physique, emotional strength and grappling abilities very distant from humans…Since ancient times, people have called them “Supermen” or “Choujin”.—
(TN: The narrator actually uses “Choujin” twice: once in Japanese, once in English. Since that would be rather foolish, especially with the second “Choujin” in English, I found it appropriate to use the proper translation of “Choujin” for the first one, which we know by this point as “Supermen” or “superhero”)
Narrator: And among them are those particularly flooded with a just heart: those who demonstrate this rare power just to protect humans from the hands of evil are called “Justice Choujin” or “Idol Choujin”—
Narrator: In the second half of the 20th century, the 10 years between 1980 and 1990 were a particularly dark era where Justice Choujin and wicked Choujin fought violently and severely, even within the 140 million year history of the Choujin world.—
(TN: I never knew Warsman was one of the Seven Devils…not to mention the 80s were rather quiet once Phoenix and the Evil Gods was stopped…though time will be a matter with something said later, the Throne arc basically took place in 1984 in Kinnikuman time…and 1984-1987 our time)

3.
Narrator: There had been many countless battles: “The Duel with the Brutal Choujin”, “The Battle with the 7 Devil Choujin”, “The Battle with the Shogun and the Six Devil Knights”, “The Battle with the Perfect Choujin”, “The Scramble for the Throne for the Fate of Planet Kinniku”…even within Choujin History, these 10 years were called “The Sengoku Era of Just and Evil Space Choujin”—
(TN: The “Sengoku Era” is in reference to a period of Japanese history from the 15th to 17th century where various daimyos fought over the unification and control of Japan, leading to the eventual unification by the end of this period by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Then again, it really didn’t feel like a “Sengoku Era” since it was “Good” vs. “Evil”, not various Justice Choujin fighting one another…not to mention I really don’t get this whole “war against Brutal Choujin” they keep going into considering it was mostly in the Choujin Olympics and just a couple here or there like Ramenman and Warsman)
Narrator: However, due to the actions of the Justice Choujin, this troubled era was finally struck to its end. A peaceful world came to the Earth—
Narrator: The Justice Choujin who exterminated the wicked Choujin came to be scattered into those who returned to their own planet and those who returned to their native land—
(TN: Though it will be confirmed with a comment later, this chapter occurs after “Kinnikuman vs. Terryman”, which happened rather shortly after Suguru defeated Phoenix but before he went back to Planet Kinniku to prepare to be Daiou/Great King)

5.
Mayumi: WHAT~~~~SUGURU’S DISSAPPEARED~~~!?
Mayumi: ALL OF YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT TODAY IS AN IMPORTANT DAY FOR THE KINNIKU CLAN~~~
“Glasses”: Ye…yes: this is the wedding ceremony of Kinniku Suguru-sama, the new 58th Great King of Planet Kinniku, and Queen Horumon Bibimba-sama!
(TN: It’s strange: we never saw any of the servants/retainers of the royal family in the series prior to maybe one scene near the end [we saw one with them during Phoenix’s flashback about the “Prince tournament” prior to finding Suguru] and in Nisei…and now they’re here)
Mayumi: If you understand, then how come you hadn’t watched Suguru, who is a vagabond under normal conditions~~
Mayumi: AT ANY RATE, THERE ARE FAMOUS CHOUJIN, OF COURSE, AND MANY FAMOUS PEOPLE FROM THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE THAT HAVE GATHERED FOR TODAY!
Sayuri: Qu…quiet down! The relatives of the princess will hear us…
Mayumi: Oh…ooh, right…

6.
Yaki: You’re…beautiful, Bibimba! If your mother were alive, she’d certainly be pleased…
(TN: I actually had to look up the name of Bibimba’s dad…considering that I never did any of his chapters when she first showed up, it was really the only time he showed up in the original)
Bibimba: Fa…father!
Mayumi: Bu…but what a failure. This situation with the disappearance of the leading bridegroom for his “Royal Wedding”, a tradition that is held combined with the coronation of the Throne of Planet Kinniku, is unparalleled in history!
Mayumi: And exactly five hours from now, that Muscle Bell will start to ring the “Chime of Blessing” 29 times.
(TN: Bit of a pun sort of tied to the whole situation for the year this was released: 29 in Japanese has a reading of “ni-ku”, which can be interpreted as “niku” or “muscle”, just like…well, anything associated with this clan)

7.
Sayuri: If there is a chance that Suguru doesn’t return by the time the chimes finishes ringing, this wedding will be cancelled…and that boy will immediately be eternally exiled from Planet Kinniku by just losing his right to inherit the Throne…
Mayumi: If…if that comes to happen, it would be best to have some excuse to our ancestors~~~
(TN: Those ancestors screwed you all series, so just forget them)
Sign: BEVERLY APARTMENTS
Meat: There!
Meat: Well, what’s left is to just take out the ring that was made in addition to this house and the sandbag.

8.
Meat: ?
Terry: I had a narrow, painful image from long ago when I come to this shack but…
Terry: This rabbit shack feels nicely spacious just when he’s not here.
Meat: TERRYMAN!
Wars: Fufufu…it’s annoying but with one less person, even the Earth becomes a tad quieter.
Brocken: But it’s ironic: in spite of there being peace we’ve taken by severely fighting wicked Choujin, its cause of this that Beverly Park, the symbol of peace, is becoming apartments…
(TN: Though technically they are located in Den’en Choufu according to the series, Beverly Park is the actual park where Suguru’s shack is located)

9.
Ramen: That’s the thing of the human world. They crave for peace in times of an evil world and when they grasp it, they hand peace over unconcerned…
Wolf: Fufu…humans certainly are selfish beings.
Meat: WH…WHY…
Meat: THE JUSTICE CHOUJIN CORP THAT BROUGHT AN END TO “THE SENGOKU ERA OF JUST AND EVIL SPACE CHOUJIN” HAS BROKEN UP AND ALL SHOULD HAVE RETURNED TO EACH OF THEIR HOMES!? AND YET WHY ARE ALL OF YOU HERE!
(TN: Reminder: Japan is Wolfman’s home…so him being there makes sense…compared to Warsman and Terry)
Meat: RO…ROBIN!

10.
Robin: There was something unsatisfied even as we went home…when we realized it, we unawaringly turned our legs to this narrow, painful, sweat-smelling place where “he” was.
Buffalo: Right, that’s the reason we unawaringly came here!
Meat: BUFFALOMAN!
Meat: I’m delighted that all of you are visiting here that you’ve missed, but today is the day of Prince’s…no, the 58th Great King of Planet Kinniku Suguru-sama’s Royal Wedding. All of you should have been invited!
Terry: Ah, of course!
Invitation: TERRYMAN-SAMA
Buffalo: Guys who are unrefined and don’t know of manners like all of us aren’t suited for such a magnificent place, however you think about it!
Invitation: BUFFALOMAN-SAMA

11.
Terry: But Meat, what’s going on here—how could the Kinniku House, the gathering spot for our Idol Choujin Corp and combined practice ground, be becoming apartments!?
Wolf: RIGHT—THIS IS A FILTHY PLACE, BUT IT’S PACKED FILLED WITH MEMORIES OF OUR FUN AND PAINFUL TIMES!
Wars: OUR TRUE PURPOSE IS TO PREVENT THE DEMOLISHING OF THE KINNIKU HOUSE—
Brocken: MEAT, IT CAN’T BE YOU’RE THE SUGGESTOR OF THIS DEMOLISHING~~
Meat: Pl…please hold on~~~…I…it wasn’t me, it…it was done by Prince…
Buffalo: WHAT~~WH…WHAT EXACTLY IS HE THINKING~~
Voice: I SAY ITS NICE WEATHER OUTSIDE, AND YET~~HOOW COULD ALL THESE IDIOT FACES BE ARRANGED IN THIS PLACE~~~

12.
Meat: PR…PRINCE!
Robin: KI…KINNIKUMAN!
Suguru: What? How could you have those faces; since I came to buy gyuudon, I’ll eat it with all of you!
Brocken: YOU, DID YOU REALLY SELL THE KINNIKU HOUSE—
Suguru: UGUGU…
Meat: PRINCE, ISN’T TODAY THE IMPORTANT CORONATION CEREMONY AS THE 58TH GREAT KING OF PLANET KINNIKU AND YOUR WEDDING DAY TO BIBIMBA-SAN!

13.
Meat: THIS ISN’T THE TIME TO BE HERE. IF YOU DON’T RETURN TO PLANET KINNIKU QUICKLY, YOU’LL BE DEPRIVED OF SUCCEEDING THE THRONE OF PLANET KINNIKU AND, BESIDES THAT, BE EXILED FROM PLANET KINNIKU!
Suguru: ………
Buffalo: Anyhow, you did collect money for it; money for selling off this Kinniku House…
Robin: You’re a greedy man!
Suguru: Fu, don’t worry about that.
Suguru: Shouldn’t you calm: neither Beverly Park or Kinniku House have been sold off.
Meat: EEH?
Meat: But I had been arranging all of the luggage since they were teraring down Kinniku House and building apartments!
Brocken: We…we heard this too.
Suguru: OWA~~~HAHAHAHA. YOU~~ALL GOT A TON OF LIES THAT I FLOATED OUT!
Ramen: So…so then, that’s what’s with Kinniku House for the moment! But for what reason was that big lie?

14.
Suguru: I wanted a certain thing at any cost as a wedding present from all of you.
Terry: A PRESENT~~~!?
Buffalo: THIS NOTION OF A PRESENT TO GRIM WRESTLING CHOUJIN LIKE US YOU COULDN’T HAVE HAD ON HAND FROM THE START!
Ramen: What present would you want from us? Flowers? A tableware set?
Suguru: No matter how I thought of the character for all you uncouth guys, I thought from the start that you’d never come to a gorgeous wedding ceremony.
Suguru: In the long run, I couldn’t use the decision of going to the wedding ceremony limited in not receiving that present from you all…therefore, I called all of you here by letting out that big brag that they were tearing down Kinniku House.
Robin: What is it: the present you must receive from all of us to bringing us here?

15.
Suguru: I WAS THINKING I WANTED AN EARNEST SPARRING MATCH FROM ALL OF YOU ONCE MORE BEFORE I GOT MARRIED.
Robin: An earnest sparring!? In other words, even though it’s a practice match, fighting seriously on top of attacking earnestly!
Suguru: You’re a yankee Choujin with your act of trespass into someone else’s house!
Suguru: You’re a youngster acting old, always complicating it with just these quibbles without understanding the reason and shaking with dignity!
Suguru: You’re a masked guy who disregarded handsome me and put on airs as a young noble!
Suguru: You’re swarthy guys who have few dependable words, always “ko-ho-ko-ho” and I can’t understand what you’re thinking! You can sell yourself as broadminded, but you’re hateful, lonely guy that’s alone!

16.
Suguru: And other than that…you’re rude guys who won’t even attend the long awaited wedding ceremony of a friend!
Suguru: It’s fine even if you don’t participate in this ceremony……
Suguru: BUT I JUST WANT THIS PRESENT!
Meat: A…AMAZING: NEARLY A HALF-YEAR HAS PASSED SINCE THE SCRAMBLE FOR THE KINNIKU THRONE, AND YET PRINCE HADN’T NEGLECTED THE TRAINING OF HIS BODY IN THAT TIME!
(TN: You should hold off words on that until Nisei, Meat)

17.
Wolf: If you’re prepared for this radical present, then we’ll do this as much as we like---!
Meat: PL…PLEASE STOP, EVEN WITH HOWEVER THIS IS…
Meat: YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO SHOW UP AT THE WEDDING CEREMONY WHEN EARNESTLY SPARRING SEVEN STRONG OPPONNETS SAID TO BE ELITE EVEN AMONG JUSTICE CHOUJIN~~~~
Wolf: SINCE CHOUJIN OLYMPICS: THE BIG FIGHT, YOU HAVEN’T BECOME A BIT WEAKER IN COMING TO MATCH UP YOUR BODY—
Meat: AH…THAT TECHNIQUE IS WOLFMAN’S SPECIAL TECHNIQUE…
Wolf: GASSHOU PINCH--!
(TN: “Gasshou” = “pressing your hands together in prayer”; the technique in the Toriyama World translation was made as the "Double Crush")

18.
Wolf: TAKE THIS—THIS IS MY WEDDING CELEBRATION~~!!|
Suguru: IN THIS EARNEST-SUPER 7-TURN MATCH
Suguru: I PLAN TO WIN ALL OF THEM---!!

19.
Brocken: Fufufu, Kinnikuman, surprisingly I never had a showdown even once with you—
Brocken: Take this—
Meat: WATCH OUT, RUN PRINCE---!
Brocken: RED RAIN OF BERLIN---!!

20.
Suguru Nuu~~that was effective~~~he’s the “Red Berlin” guy I’ve heard rumors about~~~
(TN: Brocken is correct: Suguru had never face Brocken Jr. or felt the Red Rain of Berlin prior to now…though he did first see it at least around the time he faced Mister Khamen)
Brocken: NUOO—RED RAIN OF BERLIN----!!
Meat: HE…AVOIDED IT…!!

21.
Suguru: KINNIKU BUSTER!
Brocken: Deyaaa—
Brocken: GUA…
Brocken: TH…THIS IS THE FIRST I’VE FACED THAT BUT…A…AS EXPECTED, I’VE GAINED A GO…GOOD MEMORY OF THE SUPREME BUSTER…
Suguru: That was Red Berlin, studied by two generations of father and children? I…I’ve gotten a good memory of…of it…
(TN: Weirdly Brockenman never used the Red Rain of Berlin…we do know by Nisei that there is a generational study of German Choujin for these techniques, but Brockenman never once used any of Brocken Jr’s techniques…unless “Red Rain of Berlin” is the same as “poison gas being spit out of your mouth”)

22.
Ramen: I’ll be the opponent next!
Robin: OOH—THAT’S THE OPEN-FINGER GLOVES THAT RAMENMAN WORE ON HIS HANDS DURING HIS FIGHT WITH KINNIKUMAN IN THE 20TH CHOUJIN OLYMPICS!
Ramen: SUCHA—SUCHA---!
Buffalo: THAT SURELY IS “THE DANCE OF DEATH” OF HIS KILLER KUNG-FU TECHNIQUES--!
Suguru: GUA…

23.
Robin: OOH, THAT STANCE~~
Meat: IT’S THE STANCE OF THE CAMEL CLUTCH, THE HIGHEST PEAK OF TAIJUTSU FOR CHINA’S 4,000 YEARS—
Suguru: Fufufu…
Ramen: ……?
Suguru: I…in these three years, with the 7 Devil Choujin…the Six Devil Knights…The Perfect Choujin…and the 5 Fated Princes…
(TN: Suguru actually referred to them as “the 6 Fated Princes”…which include himself; thus I changed it to “5” so he himself wouldn’t be included as a villain…as for the “three years” concept, that mostly just works if you go by “real time” for when the incidents occurred, going from the 7 Devils invading at the end of 1981/start of 1982 to the Throne occurring in 1984)

24.
Suguru: I’ve…developed in my struggles to the death. Do…you think I’m the same as back then~~~~
Meat: AAH, PRINCE IS STANDING UP~~~!
Suguru: UORYA---!
Construction Worker: WH…WHAT~~

25.
Suguru: UOO—
Buffalo: MUMU—IT’S THE KINNIKU DRIVER OF THE 48 KILLER TECHNIQUES + 1----!
(TN: At least Buffaloman got that right: since the Kinniku Driver is an evolution of the Kinniku Buster, it isn’t part of the original 48 Killer Techniques)
Ramen: SU…SURELY BOY…IF I HADN’T MET YOU ON THE THIRD DAY…I WOULD HAVE PAID…CLOSE ATTENTION…TO YOU…
(TN: This is a really hard one but basically Ramenman was saying a Japanese [not Chinese] expression: “Danshi, mikka awazereba, katsumoku shite mi yo.” It’s basically an expression for how someone is always changing and getting better with every day they study and mature; thus if you meet them three days earlier, you would be able to watch what they’re learning in those three days and find a way to counter and defeat it…at least I think so, I need to look more into this myself)

26.
Suguru: Wh…who…who is my next opponent…
Meat: Th…this sparring is excessive…
Wars: Out of the way! This is what Kinnikuman is personally wishing as his wedding present from us.
Meat: B…but…
Suguru: Right, Meat, at any rate these guys can only present these things.
Wars: SCREWDRIVER!
Suguru: YOU S**T----!!

27.
Suguru: OWAA~~~!!
Meat: PRINCE---!
Meat: THE PALO SPECIAL!

28.
Robin: This truly is Warsman’s certain-kill full course.
Meat: WHAT~~~SHOULD ALL OF YOU THAT ARE TIED BY FRIENDSHIP BE GIVING SUCH CRUEL TREATMENT ON THIS IMPORTANT DAY~~~
Robin: He can’t have a superficial relation that’s rolled upon by us. This Earnest Sparring can be done because we are tied by true friendship!
Meat: Robin…
Caption: PLANET KINNIKU—
Audience: KYA—YOU’RE SO PRETTY~~~PRINCESS BIBIMBA~~~LOOK HERE—YOU’RE FOREVER BLESSED---!
Bibimba: ………

29.
Mayumi: AAH~~~THEY’VE ALREADY STARTED THE CHIMES OF BLESSING AND YET SUGURU HASN’T APPEARED YET~~~
Mayumi: IF THAT CHIME COMPLETES RINGING 29 TIMES, THEN THE KINNIKU ROYAL FAMILY WILL TRULY GO EXTINCT~~~
Suguru: GUGAAAA
Construction Worker: Hi…
Wars: KO—HO—MY PALO SPECIAL, ALSO KNOWN AS “THE TOMBSTONE OF THE TUNDRA” WON’T CRUMBLE LIKE THAT---!
Suguru: UH…UWAAA~~~

30.
Suguru: I…GIVE…UP…
Meat: PR…PRINCE…
Buffalo: You’re finally giving up with your fourth opponent? Will you be stopping this soon?
(TN: Yeah, Buffaloman refers to Warsman in the original as the “5th”…he’s the 5th, Warsman in the 4th)
Suguru: N…not yet…
Suguru: MY PHYSICAL STRENGTH IS AMPLY FULLY REMAINING---!
Buffalo: Gufu…
Buffalo: You~~~I thought I would take it easy defeating you but…

31.
Buffalo: I’VE CHANGED MY MIND---!
Robin: OOH—BUFFALOMAN HAS SET IT OUT FROM WHEN HE WAS A RAGING BULL: THE HURRICANE MIXER!
Buffalo: UH
Meat: AAH—PRINCE HAS STOPPED HIS ROTATION BY GRABBING ONTO BUFFALOMAN’S LONG HORNS—

32.
Terry: THIS…CAN’T BE!?
Suguru: UOORYAA~~~~!
Buffalo: YOU FOOL~~~THE KINNIKU BUSTER BECAME IMPOSSIBLE FROM WHEN YOU MADE AN OPPONENT WITH THE 5TH VETERAN~~~~
Buffalo: DOORYA!
Meat: AAH: THAT’S THE KINNIKU BUSTER REVERSAL, LIKE CHANGING THE NUMBER 6 INTO A 9----!

33.
Suguru: It’s…as effective as ever~~~your Revenge Buster…
Robin: Even if this is already over, that’s fine!

34.
Suguru: LEAVE THAT OUT~~ UNTIL NOW I’VE SOLD THAT I WON’T CAST THIS ASIDE, NO MATTER WHAT SORT OF MATCH IT IS----!
Suguru: Uwa…
Suguru: Wa…
Robin: HMPH!
Meat: AMAZI—NG, ROBIN’S WRESTLING IS A MOVEMENT THAT SURELY IS LIKE A WORK OF ART!
Suguru: Fufu…that’s right…the guy that I first became a first-class Choujin with and…first he matched his body with wa…was this Robin Mask…

35.
Suguru: Though he doesn’t have the body weight for his moves, with his mastery of techniques, I can’t move a lever in the end with his smarts. Aah, you’re the man who first taught to me this sort of thing o…of being first-class…
Robin: SURA—
Meat: THAT’S ROBIN’S PRONOUN: THE TOWER BRIDGE, CALLED THE OLDEST SPECIAL TECHNIQUE IN THE WORLD—
Robin: Seirya---!
Suguru: Owaa~~~!
Meat: IT…BROKE. PRINCE’S SPINE~~~

36.
Suguru: Guhehe~~I seem like an idiot~~~a pig’s butt~~
Robin: You fool~~~I remember the extent of unpleasantness in the Finals of the 20th Choujin Olympics 6 years ago.
Robin: At that time, I didn’t know of your constitution where you can easily crack your hipbone; I was convinced that I had completely pulverized you and undid my technique, allowing that reversing technique—
(TN: It is true: Suguru's hipbone cracks easier than his other bones, which is what lead to Robin's downfall in the first Choujin Olympics)
Robin: WILL I TREAD ON THE SAME RUT AS THEN~~~~!!
Suguru: OWAAA~~~THIS SHOULD BE~~~!!

37.
Robin: REVERSE TOWER BRIDGE----!!
Meat: WAA~~THAT TRULY IS THE SOUND OF THE PULVERIZATION OF PRINCE’S HIPBONE—
Suguru: GUUHEHA…
Robin: Someday I think I will finish my revenge for then, but be thankful this is suited for this occcasion today.
Buffalo: Well, you’ve completed your sparring with six; one more and your injuries will be extreme. How about stopping already and returning to where your cute bride is?
Suguru: I want to say “I want to go home”, but…

38.
Suguru: I’m…sorry: my body has seized 100 enemies since the era of my ancestors and I am the possessor of a tough body to the point of further returning to life wi…without lifting a sound even after three days and nights of lyn…lynching…
Suguru: Th…though my mind is at its limit…my body wants to fight…
Suguru: Fu…further, I can’t end it left with the guy I most want to conclude it with in the end…
Buffalo: This is such a rare relation that they haven’t matched up bodies while being a duo over a long time.
Brocken: Kinnikuman once had a chance just before returning to Planet Kinniku. It was called a super-dream card, but Terryman’s girlfriend Natsuko-san had met with an automobile accident and Terry ended it in a battle of a short few minutes so he could attend to her.
(TN: That was depicted in the “Kinnikuman vs. Terryman” one-shot published in Kinnikuman Nisei vol. 9...though the strange thing is that it ends up depicting this battle in 1987...which once again contradicts time between "real time" and "Kinnikuman time" considering that the entire Throne arc "takes place" in 1984...but the manga ran with arc between 1984-1987...yet still tries to be in "real time")

39.
Terry: This is sparring to the end and won’t be recognized as an official match. But I want this spar with you to be a battle without regrets such as one without a drop of sweat or blood remaining.
Terry: Since long ago, there was a match method displaying the strength of a Texas-man, testing courage that’s the most primitive. It didn’t have those clever throwing techniques; it was just a meeting of strikes and kicks, where just the person who stands in the ring alone in the end becoming the winner.
Terry: Shall we understake the Texas Fist Deathmatch?
Suguru: NATURALLY!
Terry: I KNOW YOUR CHINKS HAVING WATCHED YOU THESE LONG YEARS!
Suguru: GUOA!

40.
Terry: HMPH! HMPH!
Suguru: GUGA…
Meat: Ah…those jabs are reliably being taken in Prince’s nose, taking out his breathing.
Suguru; FUWAA
Terry: WELL~~~I’LL SHOW YOU THE OVERWHELMING DIFFERENCE SO THAT YOU WON’T SPEAK OF THE DREAM OF HAVING A SHOWDOWN WITH ME EVER AGAIN—
Meat: PRINCE, WHY AREN’T YOU USING YOUR MUSCLE CURTAIN, YOUR IMPREGNIBLE GUARD!

41.
Suguru: MY GUARD~~IN A COURAGEOUS COMPETITION OF MAN AND MAN, I DON’T HAVE A REASON TO USE THAT THING.
Terry: Kinnikuman, you’ve already retired as a Choujin wrestler! You’re even going to eat gyuudon made by your beautiful………
Terry: WIFE---!
Suguru: UO…
Suguru: E…even now, I’m a Choujin!

42.
Suguru: I can’t grow if I don’t fight. If I don’t always remove the limiters in my mind…
Suguru: I CAN’T LIVE—
Terry: Gufu
Meat: He…got in.
Robin: KINNIKUMAN’S STRAIGHT PUNCH!
Suguru: HMPH
Terry: ………
Terry: Gufuu
Suguru: AREN’T YOU FINE WORKING HARD MILKING COWS WITH NATSUKO-SAN IN THE COUNTRYSIDE OF TEXAS---!

43.
Terry: WHAT’S THAT~~YOU GARLIC-SMELLING MAN…BRUSH YOUR TEETH OCCASIONALLY!
Suguru: YOU’RE A HICK GUY WALKING AROUND TOWN IN LONG BOOTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR---!
Terry: SHUT UP.
Suguru: YOU—
Meat: THEY’RE…NOT STOPPING!
Buffalo: They’ll do it!
Meat: EEH~~~

44.
Buffalo: Even if it takes several hours until their mutual feelings are completed…
Terry: IF YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED, THEN HURRY AND MAKE A CHILD!
Suguru: YOU SHOULD HAVE A HEALTHY, CUTE CHILD!
Terry: SHOULDN’T THOSE KIDS BE FIGHTING AS COMRADES!
Suguru: THAT’S A GOOD IDEA: THEY ABSOLUTELY WON’T LOSE!
(TN: Well…that doesn’t explain Terry the Kid’s attitude for Mantaro at first…)

45.-46.
Terry: AT ANY RATE, CONGRATULATIONS!
Suguru: THANK YOU!
Robin: Alright, that’s enough.

47.
Buffalo: Fufufufu: that was a good thing, fighting in the ring. It was refreshing and the best at breed feelings of solidarity as fellow warriors who have fought…
Brocken: This pleasant feeling of knowing the limits of our own power can’t be savored by humans…
Ramen: I want to be excused from fighting villainous Choujin…
Terry: Hahaha, that’s right. If I were that idiot, I’d be fine even if I fought many times.
Robin: Aah, if I were that idiot, I too would want to fight often.

48.
Terry: It’ll be fine if he comes to have a good wedding ceremony…
Terry: It’ll be fine if he is safely on time…
Mayumi: 25…26 CHIMES~~~IT’S ALREADY THE END~~I’M SORRY, ANCESTORS OF THE KINNIKU CLAN~~
Mayumi: Wh…what’s that~~~?

49.
Bibimba: SUGURU-SAMA~~~
Yaki: What’s~~~with that burbling form~~~!
Suguru: I…received many fantastic presents from…the best friends in the universe~~

50.
Coachman: GREAT KING SUGURU-SAMA, HURRY AND GET ON THE COACH! THE 29TH “CHIME OF BLESSING” HAS COMPLETED RINGING—
Yaki: DOWA
Bibimba: SUGURU-SAMA…
Narrator: A fighting being who possesses a unique physique, emotional strength and grappling abilities very distant from humans…Since ancient times, people have called them “Supermen” or “Choujin”.—
Suguru: OWOWOW~~DO THAT MUCH SLOWER, BIBIMBA~~~
Right Caption: A LOVE BLESSED WITH TRUE FRIENDSHIP…FOREVER!!
(Kinnikuman Epilogue: End)

TN: I know what you're thinking: isn't Kinnikuman supposed to be over!? Didn't Ataru already have his last words on the insanity of the wrestling epic!? Well...the manga is over...but this actually came out many years later, considering that this was released in 2008...21 years after the final battle of the Throne. So in a way...this is Kinnikuman...but later...but in the past. (alright, they were working on the insanity of the Nisei Tag arc...but let's not really get into that right now)

A bit of a confession about this chapter before I continue: this actually is probably one of the things that probably made me interested in translating Kinnikuman in the first place aside from merely just reading it. It was around the point I was still doing Bo-bobo that this chapter came out, a special connected with the 40th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump. Seeing how Kinnikuman was tied to Bo-bobo and how I sort of had a basic knowledge of the characters from watching Ultimate Muscle, I really got into the crazy wrestling action that was going on. Sure I didn't quite know everything that was going on but the techniques were for the most part familiar and I knew that this was part of proper continuity where Bibimba married Suguru instead of...well, Mari. I kept it around for a while thinking that somehow someone would translate it...of course it was several months later that I found out no one was doing it and this would lead me to take it on during my Bo-bobo hiatus...but that's another story I mentioned in the final chapter thing.

Anyway, this chapter is a sweet chapter but also somewhat strange: in a way it feels like it's filling in some crucial gaps for the Kinniku fans...but at the same time introducing the wrestling manga to a new generation. (who probably is utterly confused and rather just be reading Naruto or Bleach instead of some weird wrestlers with utterly convoluted plot points). The gap it fills in is actually a bit regarding what happened between the original series and Nisei, in particular Suguru finally marrying Bibimba (thus securing the existence of Mantaro in the future) and, likewise, taking the Throne. In some ways, it's also sort of Suguru keeping his promise to many of his old friends and rivals to face them one last time...Terry obviously (though I doubt any kids would pick up on the continuity of the Suguru/Terry fight that was in a Nisei volume which took place directly after the Throne) but also for the most part the original gang of Idol Choujin plus Ramenman (who essentially was an Idol Choujin but not official at first due to his mental injury and only re-emerging at first as Mongolman) and Buffaloman (who is popular and tied to the always well-known Seven Devils). Somehow I guess it was wise they mostly stuck with the Choujin who were active circa the Seven Devils arc...though somehow I sort of wished Geronimo was there since he always felt like part of that group too and, like Brocken, never took a crack at Suguru in combat. (not saying Ashuraman or Neptuneman cause then it would just be too much fanservice)

On the other hand, this chapter also felt like a primer for new Kinnikuman fans to learn a bit about the characters through a few short battles with a few notable special techniques. For the most part, I sort of did understand that the characters mostly used their techniques circa the Seven Devils probably due to how early in the series it was...and just how popular that arc is. There were only really two exceptions: the Kinniku Driver (which is an evolution of the Kinniku Buster and definitely something to take out a heavy hitter like Ramenman) and Robin's Reverse Tower Bridge (which was used on Junkman back in the Gold Mask arc) While I sort of get how simple they wanted to keep it, I sort of expected a few more techniques to probably demonstrate a bit more of the later complexities: I'm not asking for, say, the Muscle Spark (which Suguru did use on Terry in their showdown several months earlier) but I could have seen stuff like Ramenman using some of his Throne-era martial arts instead of the old-reliable Camel Clutch (which Suguru defeated once already) or maybe a Robin Special instead of one of the Tower Bridges. Heck, I even sort of wish we got the Neo-Kinniku Buster with Buffaloman bringing out his "6-to-9" Buster defense. But I am satisfied with how it went with some of the really cool moments: Suguru defeating Ramenman with the Kinniku Driver, Suguru getting crushed by a full-power Palo Special (as opposed to one with Warsman running out of juice), the Red Rain of Berlin strike and, of course...the epic punching duel of Suguru and Terry...which probably may or may not have influenced some of Mantaro and Kid Terry's behaviors early on. Probably sort of wished maybe Suguru gave everyone free gyuudon for their effort but a wrestling match works too.

Though for the most part this was a fun epilogue (written 21 years later), it's not without it's problems. First of all...since when are Suguru's allies considered uncouth enough for a wedding? Let's think this over: we saw a bunch of other Choujin (and even the likes of Kinkotsuman) at that wedding, and yet Suguru's best allies are considered too manly to show up? Heck, one of those seven that can't go is "ultimate gentleman" Robin Mask, the pride of British civility...how the heck is Robin Mask too rough for a wedding!? Second: why the heck is there still so much strictness regarding the Kinniku Clan's rules and regulations regarding what must be done and how? I get the wedding being delayed cause of Suguru being on Earth, but to threaten exile...especially six months after Suguru nearly lost his life and gave up his position to several manipulated jerks like Phoenix controlled by evil Choujin gods...I think they really need to calm down on formalities of the clan. Finally...it's mostly minor but do you realize how tough it was to look up the name of Bibimba's dad? Considering he only really showed up in two chapters (neither I TLed), he just felt rather obscure. (then again I did like Bibimba here and even liked that Sayuri was...well I think she was still alive then since she doesn't seem among the living by Nisei)

There really isn't any further needs to say goodbye after this because...this isn't really a part of the series. It's more like visiting old friends and remembering the good times we've had. Though for me, it feels strange that I'm completing my Kinnikuman run (well aside stuff like maybe doing Muscle Returns or the Warsman origin chapter) with the chapter that may have started me on this series in the first place. But hey, we sure had a lot of laughs...and a few bowls of gyuudon on the way.
