Sign: Choujin Olympics Lottery Meet
Far-Right: I’m Horie
Middle: I’m Oh.
(TN: Sadaharu Oh)
Announcer: Oh, ho, and standing in the corner are the Jump Editors…
(TN: At least Kazuo is with his own crowd)
Broadcaster: Ge…isn’t this guy dead…
SFX: WHOOSH
Broadcaster: WA……HE’S ALIVE HE’S ALIVE (He didn’t have to take off his clothes)
(TN: Yeah, it’s Bruce Lee…)

74.
Broadcaster: So Oh-san, what are your thoughts on these Olympics?
Oh: This is for Bon Curry Gold!
(TN: Bon Curry Gold is a notable brand of curry in Japan)
Broadcaster: That ad is fine, it is!
SFX: KACHI—NG
Broadcaster: Please don’t deceive me.
Broadcaster: Oh! I se over there the mangaka Hisashi Eguchi-san…
(TN: Hisashi Eguchi is a notable WSJ gag mangaka of the late 70s/early 80s. Around this time he was finishing his first notable WSJ series: “Susume! Pirates”)
Eguchi: Ya, thank you!!
Broadcaster: What are your thoughts on these Olympics?
Eguchi: Ya, thank you!!
Broadcaster: No, actually…
Eguchi: Ya, thank you!!
Broadcaster: Let’s hear from someone else.
Yudetamago: Ah……defeated by a drum can…
Kazuo: He…hey, what are you doing near your senpai?
Editor: Is he playing around again?

75.
Chair: Everyone, regardless of the genre of the finals tournament being boxing, pro-wrestling and such, generally they will be performed as deathmatch fights until an opponent is K.O.
Mayumi: Suguru, this is truly do-or-die starting now.
Chair: Ma…Mayumi-kun…
Mayumi: You can do this with the limits of your power, th…this…
Mayumi: IS MY ITTETSU HOSHI CREWCUT~~~
(TN: Ittetsu Hoshi is the father of Hyuuma Hoshi from “Star of the Giants”)
SFX: WHAM
Chair: Hey—is this the time to play~~!!
SFX: SLAM
Mayumi: And I’ll be watching over you no matter where or when.
Chair: He crawled into a painfully small place—
Announcer: And now, please welcome the participants who have arrived in this pre-battle.
SFX: Slip slip

76-77.
England Representative: ROBIN MASK
America Southern Group Representative: TERRYMAN
Canada Representative: CANADIANMAN
Mexico Representative: SKYMAN
Germany Representative: BROCKENMAN
China Representative: RAMENMAN
India Representative: CURRY COOK
Japan Representative: KINNIKUMAN
Announcer: Now please pull out a lot one by one in order of preliminary results.
Suguru: Wa~~~hey you, do you want me to be the tail-end of the preliminary results~~
Meat: Prince……no one else can do what you think they can.
Oh: You tail-ender!
SFX: WHOOSH
Mayumi: Endure this, Suguru. This is…
Chair: Ke…he’s doing crew-cut Ittesu Hoshi again…

78.
Mayumi: MY DOUBLE-CUT ITTESU.
SFX: FLING
Mayumi: And I’ll be watching over you no matter where or when.
Chair: Enough! Enough!
Mayumi: Suguru, endure, endure. And then won’t the flowers open…!?
Suguru: My nose has opened.
SFX: POP / SLAM
Banner: Congratulations
Announcers: #1: Robin Mask…#3: Terryman.
Narrator: And one by one the matchups were decided.
Girl: Nu…#7, Ki…Kinnikuman.
Suguru: Hey~~Your’e the one pulling my lot and I disapprove.

79.
Suguru: WHY IS IT ME ALONE WHO DOESN’T GET A CUTE GIRL? Cause I’m passed over, I wanted someone else to call my lot!!
SFX: SLAM SLAM SLAM SLAM
Meat: Prince, please stop. Should you just take the long-awaited lucky 7?
Meat: Seven is a good green number. The members of detectives on “G-Men ‘75” and “Howl at the Sun” is 7 in all. And there’s also “007”.
(TN: 007 is obvious, but the other two are not as known in the US. “G-Men ’75” is a detective show that ran in Japan between 1975 and 1984, while “Taiyou ni Hoero” (Howl at the Sun) is another detective drama that ran from 1972 through 1986)
Suguru: Uhihihi……So I’ve got it.
Meat: Well—then…Um, “a habit of not having a seven is a bad habit”
(TN: Don’t really get the quote)
Suguru: HEY~~
SFX: DADADADA
Announcer: And so, attention please to the panel. The first match in A-Block is Robin Mask vs. Canadianman!
Chart:
A-BLOCK
ROBIN MASK – CANADIANMAN
TERRYMAN – SKYMAN
B-BLOCK
BROCKENMAN – RAMENMAN
CURRY COOK – KINNIKUMAN

80.
Celeb 1: That’s gonna be an amazing match. Drool is coming out for it.
Celeb 2: Stop the spit, stop the spit…
Celeb 3: Robin Mask is a Choujin who’s rough and whose techniques are all-round.
Celeb 4: On the other hand, Canadianman has just appeared from the within the mountains of Canada and possesses the power to lift even the Earth.
Celeb 1: Terryman and Skyman is an incredible card. I’ve got a nosebleed from it.
Celeb 2: Stop it already, stop it!
Celeb 3: Terryman, whose other nickname is the “Texas Wild Horse”, possesses amazing guts.
Celeb 4: On the other hand, Skyman has aerial killer karate!
Celeb 1: Brockenman vs. Ramenman is ghastly. I’ve peed my pants from it.
Celeb 2: Stop it, stop it.
Celeb 3: Those two are actually mysteries. I don’t know them.
Celeb 4: What I do know is they’ve done things that even kaijuu fear fighting them.
Mayumi: And in B-Block’s final card…
Suguru: Wa~~I know that one, daddy!!
Suguru: That’s between me and Curry Cook!?
Mayumi: Uuh...how do you know?
Chair: Cause those were the only two left.

81.
Celeb 1: There’s no need to say now about the bad Choujin Kinnikuman.
Celeb 2: Curry Cook is also like Ramenman and Brockenman: a mystery with nothing known. Though they say that there aren’t any technicians on the grounds.
Celeb 3: This is really a nonsense card…
Celeb 4: My nose is laughing: Fuohahihohohoho
Suguru: HOW IS IT NONSENSE~~~
SFX: WHAM WHAM WHAM
Chair: Now, A-Block’s matches will be at Kourakuen Stadium and will be sent by live satellite to the entire world.
Chair: B-Block will be at Kourakuen Hall and only broadcast on radio.
(TN: While Kourakuen Stadium already was mentioned earlier as the old major stadium and former home of the Yomiuri Giants, Kourakuen Hall is the Madison Square Garden of Tokyo, used mostly for boxing, wrestling and mixed martial arts, and still open. It will be replaced by a new version of the same hall in 2008)
SFX: WHAM
Kinnikuman: Chair, a radio broadcast…Are you saying that I don’t have any popularity?
Chair: Of course!
SFX: WHAM

82.
Chair: However that’s not the only reason.
Suguru: You old-senile fart~~~
Meat: That’s not the only reason…?
Meat: ………
Natsuko: Now, I’ll take the commemorative picture, everyone please put your hands together tightly.
Natsuko: Hey hey, Kin-chan, you shouldn’t be in the center!
Suguru: Ooh, of course…
Natsuko: OK, cheese!
SFX: CLICK

83.
Paper Headline: Tommorow: Choujin Olympics Finals Tournament!!
Narrator: And facing the tournament tomorrow, Suguru, who is drinking Morinaga Cocoa at Hotel Kinyuukan…
Suguru: U—m, this picture taken is quite good…
Narrator: Planet Kin Great Library
Meat: He said “that’s not the only reason”, those three have to have some sort of origin…
SFX: Flip flip
SFX: Wipe wipe
Meat: N…!?

84.
Meat: WH…WHAT IS THIS…!?
Picture Caption 1: Called the demon of the orient: Zangyaku Choujin Ramenman!
(TN: “Zangyaku Choujin” is a term we’re going to see a bit in this series. “Zangyaku”, BTW, is “brutal”)
Picture Caption 2: The attack he inflicted on the monster gouged out his eyes and killed him. German Choujin Brockenman.
Meat: Of course, I understand. Since these three ultimately are owners of cruel killer techniques, they can’t really show them on television. That’s why the chair chose that small assembly hall and thought of the viewers when he said no television!!
Meat: Then if the prince must fight these three…what on earth will happen…!?

TN: The first thing you are going to wonder about this chapter is the same thing that I wondered myself: WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!? Well think about this chapter as such: if you remember any of those classic WB cartoons from the 30s and 40s with the weird celebrity charicatures acting silly in one place...or if you ever watched similar versions in the 90s with Tiny Toon Adventures or Animaniacs, you probably can get the idea of this chapter. We see a lot of images of the Japanese world (well at least the sporting and manga part) in the late 70s from the beginning of this chapter...and considering we're people from another country and era trying to figure this out and take it in, I highly doubt any of these people would connect to us compared to if this was something involving people and celebrities we know ourselves in our country of origin. Of course, the big shocker of the chapter is the potentiality of the three that Suguru will and may have to fight the next time around...well OK, we really didn't find out too much on Curry Cook outside that pic of him lynching something but keep in mind both Ramenman and Brockenman...cause the two of them are going to rip each other to shreds next time! (and we'll have more to talk about)
