Jungle no Ouja Taa-chan 4
Valuable Ta-chan
-> RTS Page for Jungle no Ouja Taa-chan 4
Far away from home helping her mother in the jungles of Africa, Helen only has one thing on her mind...and with limited options to her, she's going to have to win Ta-chan over no matter what it takes!
No. 4: Valuable Ta-chan
29.
Letter: Hello, Helen, are you alright? I’m fine too. Well then. Last month, I finally had a C-experience with my boyfriend, George. Since you’ve gone to Africa together for your mother’s work, then reasonably you must be searching for a jungle boyfriend? How pathetic.
(TN: More info on “C-Experience”: http://nagoya-esl-adventures.blogspot.com/2006/10/b-c-taiken.html)
Caption: Beloved George
Helen: This is mortifying, that ugly witch has gone past that point.
(TN: Helen doesn’t call her an “ugly witch” but “busu”, a general term for an ugly woman)
SFX: Gusha
Helen: But men that I think I want to lose my virginity to are rare in the middle of Africa.
30.
Helen: Helen is waiting looking forward for the day I lose my virginity.
Helen: What can I look forwards for!!
SFX: Beri
“African Man”: Have you called for me, young madam?
SFX: Gachi
Helen: Ah, I’m fine, because this wasn’t about you.
Helen: A—ah.
(TN: This is a weird joke that really doesn’t work in English: the expression Helen uses in her prior complaint was “kubi wo nagakusite”, which is an expression for “to look forwards” or “to be eager”. But the literal translation of “kubi wo nagakusite” is “to make your neck longer”, which is demonstrated by…well, this long-neck African man)
Helen: At this occasion, should I endure with “that”?
31.
Ta-chan: I…I don’t think I can play with you anymore.
Caption: That.
Helen: Why…
Ta-chan: A good girl with a face like Helen-chan’s can’t be friends with a man who was raised by chimpanzees…Jane would
SFX: Moji Moji
Helen: That isn’t so. Further, Ta-chan is one I wouldn’t want to merely be friends with.
Helen: I’m thinking of giving you my most valuable thing. Valuable person.
SFX: Pusu
Helen: That was a shocking confession…
32.
Tribesman: Sorry, my hand went mad.
Helen: That wasn’t Cupid’s arrow?
Ta-chan: This…this is common because we’re in Africa.
Giraffe: Mirin mirin mirin mirin………
Caption: Giraffe
(TN: I really have no idea why a giraffe would say “mirin”, but somehow I think it may have something to do with the Japanese word for giraffe, “kirin”, which is close to “mirin” and rhymes with it)
Elephant: Is my nose long?
Helen: This is great: I really love the animals of Mother Nature in Africa.
Caption: He was saved because it was a wee-bit off from his heart.
33.
Ta-chan: What is that?
Helen: They’re called binoculars. They’re a device that can make things that are far away be seen as bigger.
Ta-chan: He—
Helen: Look and please try it.
34.
Ta-chan: Watch out!!
SFX: Ba
Ta-chan: Huh?
Ta-chan: It’s true. It was far away all—along.
Helen: You’re surprised.
Ta-chan: Ye…yes; that’s amazing. You can immediately see it like it’s in front of your eyes.
Helen: You can borrow them. And tonight, you can find me, who we’ll do this again, faster than anyone…
SFX: Chu
Helen: Bye, see you again.
35.
Ta-chan: I…I can find her…
Ta-chan: Hey, if you’re thinking of someone from that far away, it’s that you hate my wife Jane.
Ta-chan: She’s loose and fat and comparing her to Helen-chan is like between the moon and a warthog.
Narrator: THAT NIGHT
Helen: Ta-chan, where are you?
36.
Me and Animals: #3
A mutt dog Maru, who I raised since I was in the lower grades of grade school, died of old age when I was 19.
I well cared for it when I was a child, but I wasn’t even feeding it food when I was in high school.
Unexpectedly I gave it milk and, within that day, Maru died.
When I held it in my arms, it had surprisingly become light.
Caption: We put it in a vinyl fertilizer bag and buried it in a bamboo grove of the mountains of my father and mine’s house.
Bag: Agricultural Cooperative
TN: First of all, let me apologize for not making a better usage of finding out what a "C-experience" is. The place I translates has a super-heavy firewall and...well, I got too caught up in watching a certain video game have demos in Vegas last night to really think or concentrate on doing anything else. Maybe I'll make the adjustment later and we'll have a more complete chapter.
And...yeah, as funny as it gets, it just seems like Helen is insanely in heat and that's the only reason that Ta-chan concerns her. Doesn't she even care or realize that...you know, Jane is around? Sure we know what Jane is, but having an affair with a wife like her is just one of those things I really don't want to see the results of for her sake. But...hey, Ta-chan is obviously hen-pecked considering what merely looking at his wife through binoculars (the wrong way mind you) ends up doing to him. And another silly note: I really like the visual humor in this series, like the whole bit about Ta-chan and the arrow...and the "long neck" who was shooed away by Helen.
