Jungle no Ouja Taa-chan 5
Anabebe the Brave
-> RTS Page for Jungle no Ouja Taa-chan 5
As skilled (and infamous) as he is, Ta-chan isn't the only powerful man in Africa. But how can he fare against one of the strongest natives of one of the continents greatest tribes?
No. 5: Anabebe the Brave
37.
Caption: Five Years Ago
Narrator: The Upopo Tribe: the most militant among the tribes of Africa. And even among them, the strongest warrior is……ANABEBE
Narrator: Without showing an exterior of emotion at any time, Anabebe the Iron Mask has the fear from the other warriors.
(TN: Anabebe’s nickname is literally “Tekkamen”, which translates into “Iron Mask”)
Upopo 1: Upopo Anabebe, Chinpo Chinpo (you’re strong, you’re strong).
Upopo 2: Anabebe Tamatama Kussa Inmo Nagaai (Our Greatest Warrior)
Caption: Language of the tribe.
(TN: While the language of the Upopo is supposed to be fictional, their words are actually rather…disturbed words of Japanese made out into the Upopo Language:
-Chinpo = Penis
-Tamatama Kussa Inmo Nagaai = “By chance, your grassy pubes are lo—ng”
The “grassy pubes” aren’t literally the words of “Kussa Inmo”; it’s my own interpretation with “kussa” being a close version of “kusa” or “grass” and “inmo” close to “inmou” or “pubic hair”)
38.
Narrator: This Anabebe had fallen in love…
Jane: Do you have some business?
Caption: Anabebe, as expressionless as ever.
Caption: A strong penis case made of gazelle horn
SFX: Pari—n
Narrator: Anabebe’s feelings were understood by the woman.
39.
Ta-chan: Are you conveying feelings like that, you dummy!!
Jane: Ta-chan.
Anabebe: Man Koma Nko Kussa—(Who are you?)
(TN: Now this part really feels less obscene considering there are a bunch of random words here)
Ta-chan: Step back, this is dangerous, Jane. He’s a youngster who is the summit of the Upopo Tribe. Their words are completely different from us.
Jane: Ta-chan, give up fighting him; we’re husband and wife; if you can tell that in a gesture to him!!
Ta-chan: Al—right, that’s fine. Me and this woman are
Ta-chan: Married.
(TN: The “married” part is the same “fuufu” used above for “husband and wife”)
SFX: Kui kui kui kui kui kui
Caption: Anabebe’s head
40.
SFX: Piku
Jane: Stop fighting!!
Caption: Curious Zebra
(TN: A weird but funny term is used here for the zebra: while the typical Japanese word for “zebra” is “Shimauma”, the word used here is “Yajishimauma”, with “Shimauma” fused with “Yajiuma”, a term for a “curious onlooker” or a “rubbernecker”)
Ta-chan: They fight for and take what they want. That is the style of these guys.
Ta-chan: The winner will take Jane.
SFX: Gu gu
41.
Anabebe: Gu
SFX: Poka poka poka poka poka
Caption: Ta-chan’s raising parent…
42.
Narrator: The fight took a half-day…
Anabebe: Haa haa
Jane: Stop already, you’ll both die!
Caption: Curious giraffe
Anabebe: I…isn’t this a draw, Ta-chan… (Ze—ze—haa haa)
Ta-chan: You understand words?
Anabebe: Oh…oh—well.
Anabebe: There isn’t a strong man like you even among the Upopo Tribe. Anabebe is surprised.
SFX: Yoro yoro
Anabebe: Africa is wide; we’ll meet again. At that time, we’ll fight once again.
Anabebe: Farewell……
SFX: Yoro yoro
43.
Narrator: And five years later…
Ta-chan: A…Anabebe!
Anabebe: Oh--, you’re Ta-chan. How nostalgic.
Ta-chan: How’s that: do you still remember your promise five years ago? Shall we fight once again?
Ta-chan: The winner will take Jane, a year’s supply of pineapples, a year’s supply of mangos, 30 ostrich eggs and a year’s supply of bananas. I should also add in this monkey who is skilled in shoulder massages.
Anabebe: Farewell.
Narrator: It was better that I didn’t win that day… (A talk with Anabebe)
TN: This chapter is notable for introducing probably our first important side character of Ta-chan: the warrior Anabebe. Somehow though in the midst of some people probably crying out "he's probably just another "African Stereotype" among so many within the manga universe, I actually think Anabebe is handled with a lot of class in this series. Heck...he pulls off something insane for many to think of later in the series...but we're not there yet. Anyway, the chapter was essentially a simple one showing that Anabebe has history with Ta-chan and at one point wanted Jane...of course, when he wanted Jane, he wanted "the sexy former Playboy model"...not the Jane of now. Yeah...I can probably see Ta-chan wanting to get rid of her at this point and throwing in the monkey and all the food...then again who knows how long Jane will eat through all that. But hey, I do think Anabebe is a cool character and hopefully we'll see why as the series goes on. (as long as we no longer get any more "weiner gurads"...for a moment I actually thought he had a drill for...that.
