No. 8: Ta-Chan’s Close Call

Jane: He really isn’t smart like that but

Narrator: Ta-chan was attacked by poachers and came home.

Ta-chan: I was careless. I went alone to the forest 50m ahead and a hunter with amazing skill was hiding there.
Jane: Generally it’s unreasonable to go facing an opponent that possesses guns with your bare hands.
SFX: Kurukuru
Ta-chan: If I don’t fight that hunter, who will protect the peace of the jungle?
Jane: What will I do if you die—
Caption: Of course, Jane is worried on who will search for food for her if Ta-chan dies…
Ta-chan: Don’t be stupid.
Caption: Ta-chan, who is a wee-bit pleased that even Jane has a kind place.
Jane: Right: You’ll use a flying object too!
Ta-chan: OK
Jane: It…it’ll be that. You throw it with a who—osh and it will hit the enemy!
Jane: And it’s a cool weapon that will return to your hand while rotating like a small spinning object!
(TN: “Like a small spinning object” refers to the expression “kurukuru”, which Jane uses for, obviously, to describe a boomerang)
Ta-chan: Ah, it’s that!!

Jane: You’re the king of the jungle.
Caption: Yo-yo
Kim: Ahahahahahahaha
Ta-chan: We can’t abandon our trouble.
(TN: Not sure whether Ta-chan or Jane said that, and it could have another context if Jane said it)

Ta-chan: I’ve reflected.
SFX: Gi—ko gi—ko
Jane: How about we ignore them until they lose interest in hunting?
Caption: Shell of a Theoretical Turtle
(TN: I really don’t think that I translated that right, but the turtle shell that Ta-chan pulls out is “Seorigame”, which doesn’t actually exist but “Seori” is Japanese for “Theory”, so I would translate it either as a “Theory Turtle” or “Theoretical Turtle”)
Jane: Do you think you can defend from rifle bullets with that thing!?
Ta-chan: It’s a tad useful. I have this thing if it jumps towards my bosom. I should take the form of a turtle and get close to them.
Narrator: Mimicry (An animal resembles another thing in color or form so it can protect itself and attack an enemy) Ta-chan is skilled at animal mimicry!!

Jane: Right: a blowgun. You’ll use a blowgun too!
Ta-chan: OK.

Kim: Unlearning man. Now I’ll truly shoot you to death.

At present, there is a Maltese that has already gone senile in my countryside. It’s been raised for ten years already and I think I bought it for the family. When I came home from Tokyo after two years, it tinkled on my baggage and approached. It exactly remembered me.

Caption 1: The shrimp has eaten too much and like a pig.
Caption 2: Recently my big brother, who works for a chemical company, was given a puppy from a doctor that is his favorite customers. It’s name is “Pocky”. My brother’s eyes weren’t laughing when I said a joke “when this dog dies, Pocky will take its own head”.

TN: Well at least we know now that Ta-chan does have problems saving the day...considering that for once he had to actually work on figuring how to save the animals instead of merely just being in the right place at the right time. While some could probably wonder the ethics or sanity of a blowgun in the butt, at least it does have enough gas to unleash it's load on a hunter. Though...I sort of expected Ta-chan to attempt to use the yo-yo in combat instead of just being a throw-away joke...or if we could see how the turtle shell worked out
