He may now be the king of the jungle, but is there a history to Ta-chan before his reign began!? The answer...may surprise you!

No. 11: Unlucky Abraham

82.
Caption: Africa
Narrator: This is a tale of long, long ago……
Woman: Abraham, you are a child who shouldn’t have been born to the Innsbruck family. I’m sorry, forgive your mother.

83.
Servant: Queen-sama, hurry.
Queen Innsbruck: This is a certificate that says that you are of the household of the royal family; I’m certain that someone will read this and think of raising you with great care.
Servant: Queen-sama, hurry.
Queen Innsbruck: Goodbye, Abraham!!
SFX: Batan
SFX: Burororororo… | Mosha mosha
Caption: Goat

84.
“Abraham”: E—n.
Narrator: What an unlucky baby. He was dragged into a royalty inheritance dispute and was abandoned.
“Abraham”: Egu egu
Little Chimpanzee: Ki—kikiki—(Father, I want that hairless ape)
Older Chimpanzee: Ki—kiki Ki—kiki (Can you properly take care of it?)
Little Chimpanzee: KI—(Yep)
Narrator: Etekichi…5 years old at the time.
Narrator: Abraham Innsbruck the 8th…three months after his birth
Etekichi: Kikiki—ki (There’s a penis. It’s male)
Narrator: IS THE FUTURE TA-CHAN!!

85.
Narrator: One year after htat…
Caption: Egypt—
Queen Innsbruck: With that, you’re giving Abraham acknowledgement as the successor to the throne, even though he was a child born amidst the adultery of me and the horse captain!!
“King”: You’ve forgotten about raising the child that was born between me and you. However, according to the trial, the horse captain will be banished out of the country by his testicles.
Queen Innsbruck: Ooh, you’re tolerant, your majesty the king!
Queen Innsbruck: Alright: I’ll send out the troops into Africa and search for Abraham!!
King Innsbruck: But in the situation where he isn’t found, you will have no choice but to adopt a son-in-law for our eldest daughter. (We’ll have someone with monetary value…)
Caption: Eldest daughter
Queen Innsbruck: I’ll search putting in good fighting spirit.

86.
Bird: Ka—
Soldiers: Your Highness Abraham!! Your Highness Abraham!!
Narrator: As such, they continued to search for over 10 years, but they finally couldn’t find Abraham.

87.
Narrator: And so in the present.
Caption: An often gorilla.
Jane: Hm—m, Princess Alexandra, the only daughter of the Innsbruck royal family of Egypt was given to her son-in-law.
Jane: Isn’t he a nice man? He’s too good for that ugly woman. At any rate, they got married with an aim for monetary value but
Jane: The assets of the royal family are 10 trillion Egyptian Pounds; the land of the family is a million acres? Amazing. Within the world, there are people who have good fortune to be born into wealth, do nothing and come to have happiness.
Jane: Even so, that dummy was wandering around somewhere. When he comes home, shall I fry him up two or three times…

Ta-chan: Hehe—it’s attached.
Narrator: He truly was an unfortunate Abraham…

Recently Schwarzeneggar, who has come to bathe in the limelight as a star who has developed his muscles, long ago was the King of Kings in bodybuilding. The only one who Schwarzeneggar was no match for was the great devil Sergio Oliver. By the way: the champion of Mr. Olympia, the top peak of bodybuilding currently, is Lee Haney. Eh? You’re not interested in that? Right—bodybuilding is still quite minor.

(TN: Considering that I’m probably the last person to really approach regarding bodybuilding like what Tokuhiro spoke about here [he’s a fan of it], I guess I can give a bit of illumination regarding some of the terms and men spoken of here:
-Obviously “Schwarzeneggar” is in reference to Arnold Alois Schwarzeneggar, born in Austria in 1947, notable bodybuilder, Hollywood actor and California governor. Just for the record regarding his bodybuilding career [as opposed to his movie or political ones], he was considered one of the youngest and greatest bodybuilders of his generation, first winning Mr. Olympia in 1970 as the youngest winner ever and winning the competition 7 times: a streak between ’70 and ’75 as well as a return victory in ’80.
-Sergio Olvia, nicknamed “The Myth”, was a Cuban born bodybuilder who became the first colored man to win Mr. Olympia (and the second to win the competition). He also has a distinction of actually defeating Schwarzeneggar on his first attempt to win the Mr. Olympia competition in 1969, the only man to have ever done so. He also has several other notable distinctions in his career: when still living in Cuba, he fought in the Cuban military run by Fulgencio Batista in a losing battle against rising Communist ruler Fidel Castro and spent over 25 years as a police officer in his adopted home of Chicago.
-Lee Haney became the bodybuilder who broke Arnold’s record of Mr. Olympia wins, taking the competition for a period between 1984 through 1991, including the period of this chapter in 1987. He is also notable for being a born-again Christian running his own workout show on Christian network TBN and running the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports under Bill Clinton)

TN: I think we all learned a valuable lesson today: don't leave your parenting to a five-year old chimpanzee. If you do...you'll turn out like Ta-chan. Beyond that silly though, this was a fascinating and strange chapter revealing the origins of Ta-chan...and while it does seem to show some revelations that seem like a lot of shonen main leads (being of a royal family being one of them), it just has delight in giving off new, weird twists that only this series can come up with. (so basically he's an illegitimate child, the right to his potential kingdom was eaten by a goat, and he was adopted by Etekichi when the chimp was 5? Let alone...that was his sister!? Yeah...that figures for this series and it probably explains why he's so screwed up.) One poignant factor I did like with the ending was that Ta-chan sort of has found intrigue and interest in the simple pleasures in life for what he doesn't have in the complex and disturbing world of royalty...maybe it's better he's the king of the jungle after all for our sake.
