No. 16: Crawford the Animal-Lover

SFX: Gagagagagagagaga
Narrator: The weapons of poachers change to the present ones year by year and become powerful!!
SFX: Fu
SFX: Dogagagagaga
Narrator: However, Ta-chan’s projectiles are just blowguns!!

121.
Ta-chan: I’ll show them these!!
SFX: Fua
Poacher: Dummy, can you win against a machine gun with a blowgun? Go to hell!!
SFX: Baki—n
Ta-chan: ?

122.
Poacher 3: S**t—who are you? Those who get in the way will become a beehive.
SFX: Cha
SFX: Baki
“Official”: Ho—you’ve done that.
Ta-chan: Thank you. You saved me from a dangerous place.
“Official”: That’s a natural matter.
Crawford: I am Henry Crawford of Africa’s Wild Animal Protection Patrol, who manages the poachers.
Ta-chan: I’m Ta-chan.
Caption: Bat Starfish
(TN: The “Bat Starfish”, known in Japanese as “Itomaki Hitode” or “Itomaki Hitode” and scientifically known as “Asterina Pectinifera” (or “Patiria Pectinifera”), is one of the most obvious and notable species of starfish for it’s simple and recognizable shape and peach color)
Caption: Dummy (Inverse Hippo)
Ta-chan: Did you receive that?

123.
Caption: Hippos
Crawford: I’ve made this my job having a love of animals since I was young.
Crawford: The animals of Africa are now perishing by poaching. It is unforgivable to hurt these cute animals that have done no crime!!
Ta-chan: It was good to have met a person like you. From here on we’ll mutually do our best for the animals.
Tokuhiro: The secretion that emerges from the skin glands of a hippo is red; by this fluid, they intercept sunlight and prevent germ infection. People who don’t know of animals seem to mistaken it as blood flowing from the hippo.
Ta-chan: However, what’s the matter in merely the weapons of these hunters becoming powerful recently?

124.
Crawford: Are you hurt?
SFX: Yo
Narrator: Several days after that……
Ta-chan: Crawford
Crawford: I’m fine: it’s just I took a bit of the poacher’s bullets. However they’ve been driven away and the animals are protected.
Ta-chan: You’ve done well. But your body had fallen and you were helpless.
Crawford: I’m fine, not at all. Here, those animals have been properly watching over me since earlier.
Animals:
Man-Eating Lion | Leopard | Hyena | Jackal | Vulture | Crow
Ta-chan: Isn’t there a limit somehow?

125.
Crawford: And so, Ta-chan went into Crawford’s camp nearby!!
Ta-chan: It’s fine, they weren’t great wounds.
Crawford: Can I lose heart like this? I must protect the animals again from tomorrow.
SFX: Ba
Shirt: Panda
Ta-chan: That’s a cute tanktop.
Cooler: Bambi
Crawford: It’s coffee.
Cup: Bear-san.
Ta-chan: It’s surprising: are there animal symbols on them from here to there?
Crawford: That’s why I said it: I love animals.

126.
Ta-chan: Crawford, don’t overdo it too much. You should sleep a bit, since I’ll be nearby.
Crawford: Seems so.
Crawford: Where are you going?
Ta-chan: Don’t worry: I’ve got to pee a bit.
Crawford: Use that.
Narrator: Henry Crawford: A slightly unusual animal-loving old man.

Coloring Picture of Jane-chan
Careful:
-Color it Smartly
-Color it Cutely
-Color it like a beauty.

Ta-chan: I’ll show you smart when I put on these vertical stripes.
Jane: Am I a zebra!!

TN: Alright, am I the only one who found Crawford a tad...disturbing? Maybe its intentional with his "animal love" making him so kiddy, but somehow the way he displayed it like that nearly freaked even me out. Somehow I really did love the usage of the hippos and the return of the Kaba/Baka joke (yeah, with as many idiots as this universe has, it definitely doesn't hurt to have a hippo around to prove what idiots Ta-chan and the rest are). There was also somewhat of a disturbed but funny bit with the "watching animals" all being fierce predators...but then, I doubt anyone would miss Crawford if he was gobbled up in an animal massacring death...he'd do it for what he loved.
