The biggest problem with being chubby is that it really doesn't work to your advantage...especially with how lax Jane has been in her sedate happy jungle lifestyle!

Ta-chan: I’m home.
Ta-chan: It’s brought this today. I’ve found a forest which has come to be filled with Jane’s favorite fruit.
Jane: I don’t want to eat it…

Jane: YOU FOOL, I’VE STARTED MY DIET FROM TODAY.
SFX: Zui
Jane: I’m doing this so I can wear that Michael T-shirt…that I was given by Helen-chan before.
Narrator: Actually, Jane wore that T-shirt and negotiated to be a guide three days ago…
Jane: It’s rich Japanese tourists. Shall I get filled taking those guide fees?
Flag: Agricultural Co-Op
Old Man: Well that’s surprising. Look, granny, at that girl’s T-shirt.
Old Woman: It’s for real; he’s famous even in Africa—
Old Man: IT’S KONISHIKI THE SUMO WRESTLER!!
(TN: “Konishiki” refers to Konishiki Yasokichi (born Saleva’a Fuauli Atisano’e), one of the most notable foreign sumo wrestlers notable as being the first foreign-born yokozuna in sumo history)
Narrator: Thus she seemed to have motive for a diet

SFX: Mosha mosha (munch munch)
Narrator: The diet lead to improvement and Jane’s sense of smell became well attuned.
Caption: Ta-chan, who is paying attention to her needs and eating from a distance.
Jane: That seems delish. It’s mandarin with papaya, pineapple, strawberries and orange. By the way, dear, isn’t there poop in your butt?
Jane: How could you be immer~~~sing yourself in the scent of those hunters. Run away, rhino.
SFX: Bon
Narrator: A rhinoceros is an animal that has bad eyes, but posses powerful senses of hearing and smell.

Ta-chan: But she can’t lose weight.
Helen: It’s no good: even if she possesses self control for just food…eating and reducing weight is a true diet.
Helen: Exercise. She must eat suitably and exercise.
Ta-chan: But that’s because she’s lazier than a sloth.
(TN: This is a peculiar bit that I found really hilarious: Ta-chan states “Jane wa Namakemono yori Namakemono Da Kara”. Though the same word, “namakemono” can be used for two different meanings: either “lazy person” like the second one or “sloth” (as in a literal sloth) for the first. Ta-chan uses katakana for the first, which should be interpreted as “sloth”, while the second is in hiragana giving the impression of “lazy person”. Thus the line interprets to Jane literally being “lazier than a sloth”…or more “sloth-like than a sloth” if you want to go that way)

Caption: One-Point Animal Encyclopedia
(TN: It isn’t quite “encyclopedia” here: the term used after “animal” is “zukan”, which is an “illustrated reference book” or a “illustrated encyclopedia”)
Sloth – During the day, it dangles with its four limbs on a limb, becomes rounded and goes to sleep. Moss grows on its fur due to being too slow in movement.
A Hard Worker: During the day, it clings with its four limbs on a desk, becomes rounded and does work. It grows moss on its testicles since it really doesn’t take a bath.
(TN: My guess is the similar words between “Namakemono” and “Hatarakimono” (Sloth/Hard Worker) leading to the “bit” here)
Hard Worker: Ken-chan, bests regards for the chocolate.

Helen: Don’t we have some good idea? (H—mm)
Ta-chan: THAT’S IT.
Jane: He’s doing something alone in the forest three km ahead even though Helen-chan went home long ago.
Caption: Has entirely enrichened in her smell.
Ta-chan: I did discover a baby cheetah whose parents were killed by a hunter, but can’t you raise it, Jane?
Cheetah: Nya~~
Narrator: There is terrible energy in raising a child!
Jane: I’ve got no choice, it doesn’t have parents. Is it that it can only be raised by us? Oh by.

Jane: Hey, don’t go there!!
SFX: Haa haa haa haa haa haa | Dota bata dota bata
Jane: Really, it’s because I can’t be negligent or show openings with this. If I continue the diet while raising this child, I won’t have the physical strength.
Ta-chan: Sorry, It’s going to be looked at by just you, since I’m busy with my job of protecting the peace of the jungle. So then, I’ll be going.
Jane: Hey, don’t go there!!
SFX: Dota dota
SFX: Hey don’t!!
SFX Tatatatata

Narrator: And several months later…
Helen: WOW—AMAZING.
Ta-chan: Amazing, even the animals around here are surprised in Jane’s transformation. Of course, she did start raising a cheetah and have been eating properly but
Helen: How many kilos is she at now?
Ta-chan: 96 kilos per hour.
(TN: This gag sort of works if you think of it as Helen thinking that Jane has been reduced by “kilos” of weight…leading to Ta-chan’s “km/hr” joke at the end)
Caption: Cheetah
Jane: Hey, don’t go there!
SFX: Hyui-----n
Jane: She’s fast.
Narrator: Jane’s legs became faster.

1. Happiness
I’m happy when I take a bath…
I’m happy when it’s the next morning when work is done in particular…
It feels good putting shampoo on when my head is itchy.
I wash clean throughout my body and even my crumpled testicles and my butt is so clean, like I’ve taken off a layer.

That’s because it isn’t rare for me to not take a bath for a week. (I get busy!!)

Caption 1: My pee smells since I don’t watch even my penis for a week, but I remain a certain distance where I don’ t reveal it to my assistants.
SFX: Gari gari
Caption 2: 19yo S-kun from Yamagata, who misunderstood me as a star of manga and comes to work greeting me with “good morning” even in the evening.

TN: Well Jane really is one who probably has just gotten so physically used to her current "status" that she really can't go back to how she was...or at least wear that Michael shirt so it doesn't look stretched and like a sumo wrestler. I did like some of the weird things that happened here, especially the whole cheetah bit and the ultimate result regarding it...well at least this proves Jane can have super-smell and super speed, but that isn't going to make her a model again any time soon!
