And here we go. Decent amount of talking in this one so there will probably need to be some good quality checking and stuff. In any case feel free to use these translations for your scanlation if you would like, I only ask for credit. A link to my team Bakafish at www.bakakage.net would be nice.

"Vagabond" #212 will be out in #33, the next issue!

1A 野人 is a yeti or abominable snowman, yes? Any other ways to read that? I thought it meant hick in an older way of speaking but I'm not sure.
2Not entirely certain. It's written where Kojiro wrote his title out, Musashi wrote ronin, and Kojiro wrote 巌流. Jim Breen says it is a given name.

All done. Enjoy.

Wordy chapter indeed. Finally something is moving. I'll give it a very careful read tomorrow, after I've slept off the effects of the seven hour drive today, but a couple of things on a first read.

Quote:
Page 03
... I wonder if I was intoxicated by your fighting earlier...

I wonder if you couldn't use another word rather than intoxicated. Impressed, maybe, or influenced, amazed.

Quote:
Page 04
Ganryu...2

Ganryu is part of Kojiro's name, Ganryu Sasaki Kojiro and it represents the name of his style, The school/style of rock. It should be used as is.

Quote:
All done, Koujiro?

Typo: Kojiro to keep it consistent.

How about overcome rather than intoxicated? The actual Japanese word is intoxicated, but I'm flexible on that one.

Oh, and that's a different Koujiro they're talking about. It's Koujiro with a long o rather than the deaf Kojiro.

I vote for overcome. It seems a better choice for expressing what Kouetsu felt.

Quote:
野人め
... You're a damn yeti.

You said the word might be hick instead of yeti. I think you should go with hick.

Quote:
You haven't even started to eat yet?

I think the question mark is unnecessary.

Quote:
Kojiro can't hear, so would you write for him?

Suggestion: "Since Kojiro can't hear, would you write for him?" I'm sure it goes farther than the literal translation, but it flows better to my ear and the meaning is entirely preserved.

Quote:
I just wrote it out in earnest.

In earnest? What does Musashi mean?

Quote:
Well he's spirited, isn't he...

I don't understand the "spirited" here, since Kojiro has just fallen asleep.

Quote:
But even then I've won up until now...

When you get down to it there's been no difference in my blades...

Up until now.

I know that this blade that I borrowed is a good one.

Suggestions:
But even if I've won until now
When you get down to it there's been no difference between my blades/ the blades I've used
I know that this blade I borrowed is a good one.
Quote:

Can I get you to to have it prepared in time for tomorrow's duel?

Of course, I planned to finish it by then.

Can you prepare it in time for tomorrow's duel? - flows better imo
Now, I'm not too sure about this, but shouldn't it be: Of course, I had planned to finish it by then.

Quote:
I've hit the end of my money.

I've finished my money. - Matahachi sounds surprised. Well, what does he expect, since he's not doing any work whatsoever. :notrust

Quote:
My dick's even shrinking in

Even my dick is shrinking.
Quote:

Tell us where he is, now!!

Tell us where he is. Now!! - for emphasis.

Great work as always. I should put a permanent note in my sig. Zindryr, you did a great job as usual. :tem

Nice job on this chapter, Zindryr! I hope these few things will help to answer your questions (I don't have the chapter so I'm just going off of the script):

野人 is more like "a savage" than a hick. The comment is likely about his total lack of manners.

I just wrote it out in earnest.

I realize that "真剣に" could be translated as "in earnest" but how about: "I put some effort into writing it."

According to this wikipedia entry (which aren't always reliable but...) 巌流 is one of Sasaki Kojiro's nicknames. That is why the island that he and Musashi fought on is called 巌流島 (Ganryuujima). As for Sasaki Kojiro's style, the link says it is 中条流 (chuujouryuu).

He's being sarcastic.

Well, that 'if' in there doesn't make sense to me when you put it next to the next sentence. "But even then" adds an air of "contrary to what should have happened", which is what he's trying to say. The "if", in my opinion, doesn't have that.

For the others, how about: "But when you get down to it there's been no difference in the blades I've used...", I don't know, that "between" there just doesn't feel right to me. Yes, it could grammatically go there to get the same point across, but I don't know.

Er, that doesn't sound much better to me. How about, "I've run out of money."

I thought it was something like that, my brain just didn't flip it over.

Well, that means I'll just leave it in as Ganryu then.

Thanks for the help.
