Umm, how about The Real One? Genuine article sounds very pretentious to me. And frankly, quite modern.

it was the simplest thing :p the "あぁー" and stuff that you hear in the back ground, and that they say "cats" was actually those two getting at it. Anyways the granny comes in and says

the 猫犬 thing has to with relating her to animals, and how they do it on the fly :p.

You have 母屋 which would be the "main" house and then a 離れ would be a house within the same boundaries that has some relation to the other house / family but is none the less, its own house/room.
Anyways the translation should go
奥の離れの主人です
"He's the man that lives in the house back there" (or something of the sort)
As for the カボチャ seriously no clue. IT might have something to do with a previous event in the manga or it might have some personal meaning to that guy drawing it... I don't know anyone that reads Vagabond... so not sure... will be on the look out though :).

Oh, and how about "Must be the man who lives out back." for that line? Sounds more like something we'd say.
How about "It must be the man who's staying in the guest house." I'm not sure about Kojiro's place in the Hon'ami family life: someone just passing by or someone more like a friend/family member?

If you want to put all of that in that little bubble. Mine's a shorter way of saying the same thing. "out back" is basically referring to a guest house, you don't have to explicitly say "guest house".
