This sorta makes it sound that Takezo was with everyone, but in fact he was the only one apart, right?

I think you skipped the buble on the left containing 4 kanji. (Right after 是非我が道場に来ていただき、その剣術を御教授願いたい)
I am trying to preserve the fact that they are in the past, so using "let us" instead of "let's" helps that along.
We actually need another translator to help out with the line since I'm not entirely sure. Also, the subject of the sentence is Kojiro.
Yeah, how about: It was Takezo first, and then everyone else.
So I did. It was "Sasaki...!!"
Added that in.
Hmm... Not quite what I was thinking. The way I see it, there are two simultaneously existing groups, one containing Takezo and the other containing everyone else. Matahachi is lamenting that he isn't part of Takezo's group as he once thought himself to be.
"If you win, you'll gain nothing, but if you're defeted, you'll lose everything." I think it flows better.
Maybe: It's demeaning for a family head to fight someone of such low status. Or: As a family head, you musn't demean yourself by fighting someone like that.
How about: We should use a replacement. Or: Allow us to use a replacement.
How about simply: I'm not a mercenary. Or: I won't treat this as a mercenary.
You keep doing the opposite of what I want you to do.

Cutting open Miike's belly crosswise. - stomach is an internal organ, belly is the word that fits here.
This is an interesting line, as in it doesn't make much sense to me. The main problem with Kojiro here is the fact that he can't hear.

I took out the commas: "If you win you'll gain nothing, but if you're defeated you'll lose everything."
Too many commas really break a sentence.
The Japanese doesn't say anything about it being demeaning. It just says that he must not fight an opponent like that (Musashi).
I don't see what's wrong with saying "Let us", it feels a bit more like older English.
How about: "I am no mercenary."
You know, that apostrophe s came from somewhere, and in older forms of English people did say the full thing. Does: "What is the matter?" sound better then?
That's because it isn't. Recent research and a bit of help from NJT reveals that it should be something like this: "He met the attack with a Degote."
A Degote being a move used as a preemptive strike. So, if we really wanted to we could say "He met the attack with a preemptive strike.", though it's really a specific kind called a degote.
This is an interesting line, as in it doesn't make much sense to me. The main problem with Kojiro here is the fact that he can't hear.
If he can't hear, he can't converse with other people. As such he can't talk. That's what he is saying. He can't have a conversation, literally, but that doesn't sound all that great to me.
I don't like how I worded the line, how about: "I understood you less and less as time went on." or "I understood you less and less as time passed."
Er, doesn't make sense. How about:
武蔵とその他大勢
It was Takezo against the world.
俺はその他大勢の一人に埋もれてゆき
And I became a bystander like the rest of the world.
That's what the Japanese says, live with it woman! Heh.
Anyway. On to the next chapter.

There's nothing wrong with Let us, I just felt that Allow us sounded better. Keep the old version if you think it fits the text best.

Yes, I know where the 's comes from. I thought it flowed better contracted in this particular instance. And "What is the matter?" sounds better.
We could use Degote and make a note of what it means on the side. I think that would work best. I'll look it over in wiki.
Oh, I get it. Then how about "communicate" instead of talk? Converse does sound bad and talk doesn't truly fit here.
How about: "I understood you less and less as time went by."

Could you please add this note for Degote. "Degote: A move used in Kendo as a preemptive strike" or something better from your resource. I can't seem to be able to find anything useful about Degote in English resources.
