大出世 can just mean "great success." It probably has that meaning of someone who has made it to the big time or made it to where the big dogs play, but it could just be translated as "great success " as well.

出世 just means "sucess (particularly in terms of a person's career)" or "betterment" so translate that however you see fit I guess for 大出世.

Quote by Siedhr :
At this rate, the day after tomorrow, my duel will take place in the snow.

Er, there's no link between the time and what the time is talking about in that sentence. I think the original is better.

Quote by Siedhr :
Is Ueda being sarcastic here? "Denshichiro will continue to be bear the burden of being a figurehead for a long time."

Nope, not sarcasm. He's just saying that Denshichiro will be the leader of the Yoshioka for a long time. Or at least he should be. Also, you had an extra 'be' in that sentence: "Denshichiro will continue to bear the burden of being a figurehead for a long time."

Quote by Siedhr :
Foolish? Maybe another word might fit the situation here. Is there another meaning for the word? Also: "Do you plan on killing this guy, too!?"

Er, what's wrong with foolish again?

Quote by Siedhr :
With your skill, you probably haven't lost a single fight, right!?

How about: "With your skill, you probably haven't lost a single fight, have you!?"

Quote by Siedhr :
You probably don't know how it feels like to be defeated, but...

The sentence is meant to express certainty, not probability. Hence the "must".

Quote by Siedhr :
I'd go with: This is my chance to gain entrance into the upper circles! - That sounds a bit more like Matahachi to me.

Fixing the line to have a closer translation, (based on what pocketmofo said (thanks)): "A bridge to success is now within my grasp."

Quote by Siedhr :
And on top of that, you come to the Yoshioka dojo shamelessly; I can only assume you're suitably prepared...?

Shamelessly and impudently don't really hold the same undertones in my opinion. Also, impudent has an older feel to it.

How about: "And on top of that, you come impudently into the Yoshioka dojo; I can only assume you're suitably prepared...?" <-- Like what Devin has up there.

Done.

Yah, I was tired. It's good like you said.

Quote:
Er, what's wrong with foolish again?
Reckless was the word I was looking for last night, it just didn't come to me at the time. I thought it fit the situation better. But if it doesn't fit the original text, then it's not my call to make.

Yeah, the Japanese is 'stupid' or 'foolish'.

And all edited, make one last look through to make sure I didn't miss anything.
