They've also helped another mod here get into Vagabond, as well.
I skipped ch 206 and read up to 213, so I'm all caught up now.
Especially when the dude was talking about making one's color stand out the most being a beautiful thing. If a swordsman allowed himself to be too easily distracted by what life had to offer him, then he would be dimming his own color, and his sword would be nothing more than an afterthought when it's all said and done. I don't think the blacksmith would want to forge swords for politicans (like Ieyasu) for that reason, but for Miyamato, he would have no problem, because he knows he's more or less dedicated to making his sword shine the most.
An Unique Opportunity
When everything is over, in two days, we will duel.
Shouldn't it be Miyamoto Musashi?
Hm? You listening to me, man?
We are born to sharpen blades, and we are raised/we grow up around many swords.
Is the meaning here something: All changed by their bearers. As in each sword is marked by its swordsman?
I don't quite get what you mean with this sentence.
A sharp tool solely for killing.
Preserving the life you have given the blade, this is a thing of beauty. Or something along the lines.
If you forget that, things go downhill.
You begin to lose sight of the blade when you are in their midst. Who's them, by the way?
No matter how many blades I've sharpened, I wasn't satisfied.
If you...
Place a sword at the center of your life...
There are many who say the sword is their world, but...
In reality, men who live for their sword are very rare.
They only wish to make their own color much richer and deeper.
Whew, tough chapter. Really hard to do a proper proof without knowing any Japanese.
This is used to mirror another sentence later on in the chapter, can't/won't change it.
Comma really needed?
Yep, it should, my English/American brain turned on.
I didn't look at it like that, but doing so now I believe you're right. "All changed by their bearers." it is then.
It's talking about all the previous sentences together. Literal: "Amidst/among 'that', work/act/deed/performance progressed/advanced/improved."
Thinkink of it now, it is may be better as: "And through that, my skill improved." Or something along those lines.
Insert here another change based on the previous one:
To: "I kept improving."
This is why I said I needed to go over it. I think I need to change the perspective some, because it's supposed to be Kouetsu talking about himself, if I'm not mistaken.
Used "I" instead of "I've".
It's hard even knowing Japanese, :P.
Stopping here, saving because I was just informed that this may not be final or saved.
Maybe I'm a tad comma-happy person. No, it isn't really needed, I think.
Then I don't know about this one.
? I don't understand what you mean.
I'm okay with everything else.
I read the first sentence it seems that Sōkyū is used as Azure or a type of deep blue.
How did you learn Japanese? I've been wanting to start learning for a long time. I just don't know where to start?
