Anyhow, good job overall. Have you seen anything official on the names yet or are you still just guessing at this point? Seem to be pretty solid choices either way. Oh, and one more question/comment... I haven't been able to decided for myself yet whether ドラゴン is supposed to be a common noun or a name. I could almost swear that there's a number of cases were it's being used effectively as a name... but goddamn Japanese doesn't make the distinction grammatically like English (or goddamn English doesn't let you fudge the issue like Japanese). Got any thoughts on the issue?
And yeah, Blue Dragon truly amazing title with fanservice, and Ral rocks haha ^^
I've kind of treated the issue as Ral saying 'his dragon' and left it as a common noun. There are already a lot of proper nouns in the series to differentiate from, so when they just say standard 'ドラゴン', I treat it as a common noun. ブルードラゴン however is a proper noun to me, so it gets the Blue Dragon capital letters.
Are you sure it's length? I thought it was limited on time, because he says 時間に限り at the end of that first sentence there. I might just be confused though.
The way I see it, the 'here' applies because Grado isn't going to permanently be in Ral. As soon as Bira is killed, Grado's going back. The 'here' applies to their current situation of being "Friends". At least that's what I thought when I wrote it.
Stylistic change. Shadow talk is fun and all, but I'm not sure it should be used unless the Shadow itself is directly speaking. It tends to make things less readable in the end, in my opinion. Though a possible way to go with the line would be: He says, "I destroy all. I kill Queen Obscuria."
Doesn't work as well in my opinion, but that's a possible route.
Yeah, at the time I was thinking they were kind of talking about power, but you're right, looking back at it. It just didn't dawn on me to look at it that way.
The "to think" always seems more verbose and highbrow to me. I use it occasionally depending on characters, but I like to mix things up a bit. I thought of it more as, (and I should probably add this to the script): So that was on purpose.
Putting stress on the 'was' there, as if the person is just realizing it.
Same reasoning as before for this.
I switch between 'restoration of Noir' and 'return to Noir', as in the context they're almost the same thing. I'm assuming what happened, though, is that the when the Queen left the world of darkness, the other Shadows couldn't stay there without her, (for whatever reasons). And now that she's become a Second here in the light world, she can't return to Noir. And if that's the case, neither can any of the Shadows who are still Firsts.
We'll see, you never know what they'll leave in the volumes these days. I'll probably change it to look more like a narrator, get rid of the 'alright, ', but it really felt like Mio was responding to it, heh.
Thanks for all the help. If you don't continue translating Blue Dragon, I'd love to get more pointers and the like if you ever get time. Can't get better without outside input.
