Hmm, few things this week:

* Apparently I misinterpreted the block of kana talking with Chad as Jinta; never saw Renji's name used in katakana. So yeah, that's going to be corrected.

* A combination of a certain person who can't read on Stop Tazmo and the complete absence of free time this weekend have led me to A) reiterate that if you want to refer to this script, post a backlink (I make a lot of updates) and B) post the script piecemeal so that anyone that likes to crosspost to other forums will have be forced to take the edits with them when they lift the entire text (well that, and this is as far as I've been able to get without work/school/life coming into play).

*Aki's coming back from her extended spring break this weekend; look for the majority of edits to come then.

Bleach c224 - Imitated Gaiety
Fanning: The meek's soul's soft light drifts closer to the darkness. It flickers ever faintly on the verge of snuffing itself out.

Translation Notes: Well just so you know what "gaiety" is, the American Heritage Dictionary defines it as either "vivacity" or "festivity." Therefore, the title is probably an allusion to Hinamori forcing herself to be completely recovered for Hitsugaya's sake. Syn added that a standard French denotation of the word (as "gaieté") is something a bit more scaled back to "happiness;" which fits in better with the hint of tension in Hinamori.

Hitsugaya: 「So it looks like you're awake now... Hinamori... are you fine with walking around now?」

Hinamori: 「Hmhmm... I'm doing all right!」

Hitsugaya: 「...I see...」(No way are you okay yet; you're duping yourself.)

Hinamori: 「Sorry... I'm sorry, Hitsugaya-kun... about doubting you and all... pointing a sword at you... what's done is done, but... why did it have to...」

Hitsugaya:「...You're being foolish here, don't be… Doing so will only worsen things, so please go ahead and grab some more winks.」

Hinamori:「Yes... Thank you, Hitsugaya-kun.」

Hitsugaya: 「You won't be able to keep up if you can't even get some shuteye. Keep this up and you won't even be able to hold a flame to Rangiku even with ten years' time!」

Hinamori: 「Sh... shut up! That's just Rangiku-san's being special! Talk about growing up and Hitsugaya-kun are two things that just don't mix！！」

Hinamori:「...Oh... I see now. So, may I ask you something?」

Hitsugaya:「What now?」

Hinamori:「Hitsugaya-kun, did you... fight with Captain Aizen?」

Hitsugaya: 「...Indeed so.」

Hinamori: 「Did you kill him...? Please you have to help him...!」

Hitsugaya: 「...Hinamori...!」

Hinamori: 「Sure, Captain Aizen may have done some bad things... Though... don't you think there was some reason to why he did them...! Certainly someone like Captain Ichimaru made him do it...」

Translation Notes: There's the clincher; anyway, don't be too hard on Hinamori. She's definitely using several defense mechanisms here like projection and denial in order to try and cope with all this trauma.

Yamamoto: 「I had to respect her wishes to to let herself finish speak those words personally... Yet, I must end this early...」

Hitsugaya: 「No, it's okay... thank you very much for this.」

Yamamoto: 「...Captain Hitsugaya.」

Hitsugaya: 「Pardon me.」

(Hitsugaya is visibly furious.)

Hitsugaya: 「.........Aizen......!」

(The scenes change to the Urahara Shoten.)

Sado: 「Ooooooooo!」

Renji: 「How's it going!? Has your strength plummeted yet!?」

Sado: 「That won't be... happening...!」

(Standing aside in deep thought is Urahara. The other side of the store is preparing food.)

Renji: 「Am I supposed to take this as a boon for training!? The heck is this!?」

Urahara: 「Since you refuse to return home, I suppose you'll hang around until you feel more accomplished.」

Renji: 「A likely answer! You're just doing this so you don't have to request something of me directly.」

Urahara: 「Well, I'd think to properly forge Sado's strength, the force of a Bankai is indeed quintessential.」

Renji: 「You should use your own Bankai then; the more, the merrier! Besides, it isn't like you don't have the knowledge to use one.」

Urahara: 「Look here! It isn't possible for a handsome ero-merchant such as myself to wield such a power!」

Renji: 「Don't you already know that a lot of people are already acquainted with the circumstances surrounding you!? The fact that you were the former 12th Division Captain who was at the head of the effort to create the Hougyoku is old news already..」

Urahara: 「Well, isn't that just splendid♪」

Renji: 「Release it!! Strike already!! Just yakking around is unbecoming of someone like you!!」

Urahara: 「...Please, give up on this one; my Bankai shouldn't be lended to forging power in another... it isn't suited for such a task. Okay, seeing as how we're clear on this!」

Urahara: 「I've got an idea! I'd like to ask you to run a few errands here and there for me, Abarai-san.」

Urahara: 「You see, I've got a few business deals to close around here. So, if you can keep up with these official odd jobs I assign you for three months, I'll answer anything you throw at me!」

Renji: 「Wh...who would've thought the pursuit of knowledge led through brokering some shady deals...」

Urahara: 「Well, doing so as a chore boy anyway. So, if you pledge your time and life to me, you can ask that question... unless you want to give up on doing just that?」

Renji: 「Fine... Let's do this!」

(The panels change to later in the day.)

Urahara: (Somehow, I'm getting a feeling here... I wonder if it's something Abarai-san's doing... Yasutora-san... There's still a certain margin by which to extend your powers...

Urahara: (That's for sure... Battling constantly again and again with a Bankai should do it... The problem at hand here is that it can't be said that your powers align with that of a Shinigami or even a Quincy... So... I suppose that it's...)

(The scenes flash over to Ichigo, whose mask is now cracking.)

Hiyori: 「Stop bein' so full o' yerself, ya baldie!!!」

Ichigo: &#12300;<Coughs?> You're the freaking idiot!! I just solved a big problem of mine!!&#12301;

Translation Notes: I saw "&#12372;&#12405;&#12387;" here. If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the SFX for coughing? Anyway, it fits in the context so I left it in.
