Recit (account so far) - Shaoran and co. travel to other worlds to save Sakura, who has lost her memories. This time the group heads to Fai's hometown, the country of Celes. Born as one of twin princes, Fai is labeled and evil omen and abandoned like a criminal! However, a terrible disaster falls upon the country, and its while its inhabitants are being driven to extinction, someone appears before the twins!

*t/n - the kanji is "jigoku" = hell. However gehenna is the furigana given here.
Gehenna is one of several words translated hell in some bibles (the others being sheol and hades). Gehenna was a garbage dump outside Jerusalem in Hinnom, where things that were to be burned (thus utterly destroyed) were cast away. So the gehenna mentioned in the scriptures is the "second death", the death from which there is no resurrection. Sheol and Hades however are only spoken as being the "first death". My point in bringing this out is that gehenna was meant to be inescapable, so quite possibly the author is trying to show how Yuui has lost all hope/is ready to give up his life in the ultimate sense (erase his existence).
