From here on, no matter what happens, I will never betray our bond (tn: I’m pretty worn out from some manual labor at the moment, and hence the half-assed translation of the phrase, but here’s what the translation’s connotation is: 盃を返す literally means to return (返す) the (sake) cup (盃). If you remember from when Rikuo saves Zen, they drink sake together to become sworn brothers and they call the act 盃を交わす, which literally means to exchange cups.)

Nevertheless, I am a frail, novice fledgling still training in the ways of demon chivalry (tn: demon chivalry was derived quite literally – i.e. 妖怪(demon)仁侠(chivalry)道(way))

He let Rikuo-sama let him get cocky - (tn: 調子に乗る means “to become cocky”, but if it’s in the passive form 調子に乗せられる, that the nuance is that the victim has been reeled into the other person’s pace and lost track of his own ground. Which is about what happened to One-Eye. Couldn’t find an apt-enough literal translation, so hence the interpretation)

Acting like a good guy... all slippery and vague (tn: here Gozumaru says ぬらりくらり, which is of course a play on the name and characteristic of the NURA’s, namely NURA RIhyon and NURA RIkuo)

He’s a shrewd one... (tn: the closer translation would be “he’s someone you can’t let your guard down against”, but that’s a bit too long. I guess I could’ve put “Can’t let your guard down around him...” Never mind, that’s long too)

(tn 1: 八十八鬼夜行 is pretty much the Shikoku party’s version of Nura group’s 百鬼夜行, except they have 88 instead of 100, but the point is that different parties have similar night demon things that they do)
(tn 2: the kanji for “take him” used is actually 殺, or kill. You can use either take or kill, and both are appropriate)

The target is Grandpa...!! (tn: kanji used for おじいちゃん is actually 総大将 or general commander, so either is fine to use)
