#2 - 要ハ力量ノ差 - "ALL HE NEEDS IS A GAP IN ABILITY" - which sounded weird, so I fleshed out his analogy a bit more by shifting it to "ALL HE NEEDS IS MORE SKILL AND POWER" Like how you can beat a top-tier character in MvC2 with Dan if you have more skill :D

Whether or not that produces a difference in interpretation for you here, though, is of course another issue.
I've been rooting for them since Phil Simms was throwing bullets back in the 80's. Of course I was in bed before half time, but hey. I'm no bandwagon jumper is what I'm saying :)
