seems like the chapter was a bit too early for OS.Hoshi to make it^^;
Hello everyone, Xoph-OMGit'sfuckinghot-ien then, for a new translation of ES21~ Kinda disappointed Xophien as well, the Euro football cup (I'm talking about real football here, not amefuto >.>) had two Deimon-like teams (Turkey and Russia) I was rooting for that made it to the semi-finals, but both of them were defeated before the last match... And now I'm forced to root for Germany. Can you guys understand my pain? ;_;
...
ANYWAY, back to the chapter, a little explanation note before hand : Christ Cross is the direct translation of what Yamato and the card says (the furiganas), the kanjis being read Holy Cross. I could have easily mixed both and made that the Crucifix, but I still went for Christ Cross, since it's what they actually say :noworry If I get enough complaints about the engrish, I guess I'll consider changing it -_-; Forget that, 288th down says it's Chris Cross :sweat
Nonetheless, enjoy~

Page 08
Yamato : I see, so this isn’t racism, huh?
Yamato : Just a rivalry between players.

Kakei : Usually, on defense
Kakei : After looking at which side the runner is going
Kakei : You accelerate for a tackle.
Kakei : but
Kakei : the “real Eyeshield 21” Yamato-kun is different
Kakei : He shortens the distance at full speed at once
Kakei : Create a perfect seal
Kakei : And prevents directly any move to the side...!!
Page 15
Sena : I can’t move...
Sena : to either side...
Sena : Even the rotation of the Devil light hurricane
Sena : wouldn’t pass that...!!
Shin : It’s allowed by

i thought it was criss cross...that was the vizmedia tranlation
or holy cross flows more, to me
I thought about that as well, but the kanjis are it seems always used to refer to the Christian cross, and the last page has one as well, so criss-cross doesn't carry the meaning at all, and even Holy/Saint Cross loses a bit of it in the process. So it's either Christ Cross of Crucifix that it should be translated with, imo :noworry
Besides, Holy Cross sounds cooler than Christ Cross >.>
@ alexlw92
I believe Vizmedia also wants to avoid using Christ Cross, but since their translations is like that (imagine the Seibu manager >.>), they use another word that has an almost similar sound to it. Eh well, it's either a literal translation, a correct translation or a modified translation to suit the overall presentation.
~DE
But thanks a TON for ur never-late translation!! :confetti
Anyway about the cross, I don't think Holy Cross is a fitting word to use either since it ruins the whole pun of the team. from Deimon, Devil, Devilbat, Cerberos, Ryokan, Devil Dragonfly, Devil Laser Bullet, Devil Backfire and Devilbat Ghost are all basically on the Un-Holy side of things.:p Let's leave it at Christ Cross. But if you ask me I think "Christ's Cross" could be good seeing as it could also mean Christ's burden in biblical terms.
and Grab your self xophy-nii :XD Life is so hard...
I will have to take issue with Christ Cross, however, I don't like it. Crucifix sounds far better.
