Akame ga Kill

This series is really good and very much worth reading, however it is necessary to be able to take a little bit of sadness/tragedy, as likeable important characters do die in this series, much like in Hoshi no Samidare and Sengoku Youko (which are just as awesome in my opinion, though this has "better" art.)

The action scenes aren't bad, with a good setting and decent plot, and the long chapters actually allow each chapter to develop well and there are generally few cliffhangers. Each arc may well carry unexpected twists, and character development is pretty good as well. The characters are also generally diverse, unique (in the story) and interesting, and I think for the most part, you can tell the characters apart as well (except for one part where I almost mixed up 2 girls >_>)

There are a number of girls which may almost cause this to be a harem, but the romantic side of things is largely a subplot (still fun to think about/support your favorite girl) but yet is also there to help push the story on. Although the chapters seem to be getting shorter after 20+ chapters, the series itself is still very interesting and likeable, and leaves you wishing for more with every chapter after the first few.
