Naruto 412

Naruto chapter 412

+ posted by Xophien as translation on Aug 8, 2008 11:11 | Go to Naruto

-> RTS Page for Naruto 412

I can't guarantee the quality of that translation, because Naruto isn't a manga I translate usually, and I don't even like it. I only translate it because the reactions of the fangirls to Karin's biting scene were just damn too hilarious :XD If you want a quality translation, you should probably wait for Japflap's release :nod

Karin : Yeah...

Suigetsu : Let’s go all three together, Sasuke

Suigetsu : I’m telling you, that guy is absurdly strong.
Suigetsu : Instead of holding back, let’s go af if we wanted to kill him!
Suigetsu : We may beable to defeat him without killing him like that.

Hachibi : By making a Raiton flow through his body he managed to shift the path of the attack and avoid a fatal wound.
Hachibi : And... That girl’s chakra has the ability to heal when it’s sucked, huh? Check it out!

Naruto : Ouch!!

Naruto : You know, there must be a more efficient way of training!
Elder toad : What do you mean?

Naruto : Training by using kage bunshins.
Naruto : If I do that I’ll gain experience many times faster!

Elder toad : The kage bunshins’ sensation all return to the original body.
Elder : If a kage bunshin completely turns into a toad then it’s over!

Naruto : I understand about that, but...

Naruto : Uh... It hurts...
Naruto : I didn’t think that training just to be able to feel the energy of nature would be that difficult...

Elder toad : It’s because you forge yourself through a painful training that you’ll be able to achieve true strength.
Naruto : I get that already!
Naruto : Anyone would have to endure a lot to get as strong as someone like the ero sennin.

Elder toad : No... That’s impossible.

Elder toad : This training is not something that anyone would be able to do...
Elder toad : it’s because it’s Naruto-chan and Jiraiya-chan that I told you about it.
Elder toad : I wouldn’t have taken anyone else here.

Naruto : What do you mean?

Elder toad : guys that possess an enormous amount of chakra...
Elder toad : If you don’t have that, the energy of nature will flow inside you all at once.
Elder : The energy of nature is just that strong.

Page 12

Elder toad : And then more importantly, guys that have the willpower to never give up.
Elder toad : That’s how men are able to become sennin.

Naruto : Alright! I’ll do it!

i see you translated hachibi's チェケラッチョ on page 7 as "check it out"...but is that really the right phrase? I ask not to criticize, but to learn, since he keeps using weird slang i've never heard of. (And got any links to its usage?)
#21. by Xophien (Eroge Danchou)
Posted on Aug 8, 2008
"check it out" is supposed to be the meaning of チェケラ and since I didn't feel like spending too much time figuring out if the meaning was actually different, I just went with the flow♪ or something like that :sweat As for how I got that one, it showed up in a chapter of Dogashi some weeks ago, and after failing to get the sense of it, I went to ask nihonjintaylor who gave me "check it out" and sent me to some 2ch page that explained it, if I remember correctly. Don't ask me to find that page again, though^^;

I'm assuming it's the new trendy word, kinda like どんだけ~ not so long ago, since it showed up on both the chapters of OP and Naruto this week... >.>;

shortly after you wrote that reply i found an answer on yahoo... (but thanks for replying!)

according to an authentic(?) japanese person, they've written "Check it out! Yo!", although only japanglish can possibly explain how "ra" fits for "it", or its completely out of place usage in context. :S

I love どんだけ!!
every japanese person i ask to give me english for them just falls silent XD

The completely out of place, that, I gave up understanding. Or rather, I understood that Japanese persons don't understand half of what they say themselves, and that doesn't make our job easier^^; It's just the way "check it out" turned into "chekera" that I don't understand. Even using engrish as an excuse, I would never have guessed it in a thousand years. I'm pretty sure the day they find an explanation to this one will be the day we'll be able to explore the galaxy, because nothing else than an hyperspace travel could have turn that english expression into something so far away in so little time >.>;

Quote by shrimpy;982325:
only japanglish can possibly explain how "ra" fits for "it"Japanese perception (or rather the perception of Native Japanese speakers) of "North American flapping" probably explains the ラ sufficiently. The "t" from "it" in "check it out" becomes a flap when I say it rapidly (if perception of ones own speech can be considered reliable enough; I'm born/raised US west coast, BTW). This "flapping" is a phonological feature that commonly gets applied to word-medial unvoiced alveolar stops (ie, the "t" sound occurring in the middle of a word) in conversational speech.

It just so happens that this flap is, phonetically speaking, very close to the consonant of the Japanese "r". The ラ is presumably the result of the perception of the "t" in "it" and the following vowel, as said rapidly in a "typical" North American English accent and filtered through the ears of native Japanese speakers.

Half-assed knowldge of linguistics FTW.
