National Cherry Blossom Festival - Event Update

This Saturday, March 26, the National Cherry Blossom Festival will start with the Opening Ceremony in Warner Theater from 5 – 6:30 PM. It will host many world-renown Japanese artists, the soprano singer Asako Tamura, the 6821 Quintet, the Tsugaru Shamisen duo Dois Hazuki, Miho Hazama's Jazz Ensemble and the stage artists Gamarjobat, as well as the vocalist Brenna Whitaker. Tickets for this free event are currently sold out, however, walk-ins for last-minute spaces will be accepted starting at 4:45 PM.
Do you need something to do beforehand? Possibly with your family? Then head to the Family Day at the National Building Museum. This free event is open from 9 AM to 5 PM and includes activities such as folding origami, designing a memorial for the National Mall, constructing a tatebanko diorama, meeting Kawasaki’s robot, DuAro, and trying on traditional Japanese clothing.
