There's an update for this, read it
HEREHello again everyone :)
As you may have noticed (if you're an uploader), we put up 3 new rules for uploading releases. In the spirit of properly doing things right for the community as a whole and making sure people aren't abusing the fans/readers, we decided to put forth these rules;
Quote:
Every release
1. has to provide a non-profit download resource.
2. must be accessible to the public without the need for registration.
3. needs to be accessible in a user-friendly way.
Has to provide a non-profit download resourceThis is our part to contribute, as in to curb some people from trying to make hidden money from scanlations. Scanlations are supposed to be cost free (for the readers), and getting money from the readers is supposed to be optional (donations for example).
So in short, make sure to provide at least one cost free link together with your direct money giving hosting links (such as MegaUpload, EasyShare, DepositFiles, KewlShare). You can use services such as MediaFire, SendSpace, zShare, torrents, your own direct download, or even better, MH's direct download.
Cash click services, such as linkbucks, usercash, hotfile, etc are banned as usual.
Must be accessible to the public without the need for registrationThis is self explanatory. We decided to put it in because it is against the spirit of sharing. Chances are, if you enforce the community to register to download, people will shun away from your site and go to download other groups' releases.
Needs to be accessible in a user-friendly wayImagine this: to download a release, a person has to click like 8 or 9 times before they can see the DL links. It's troublesome and seems like the scanlator doesn't want people to download their releases :(
I'd personally say 'the depth of a top-level forum' is the standard to go by;
like 'click forum-link -> look for comprehensible forum title -> see topic -> see link'
That is fine. This rule is really just so we can point out the rules for really obscured ways to access the links to gain profit.
In short, 3 or 4 clicks max would be the idea. None of the online hosters fall into this category, so don't worry :) This is just for precautions.

So there you go, 3 rules to make the community better. As usual, if you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

You see, I upload the chapters here so fans can download directly from MH or read it online. However, I usually link the group's website in the notes, where the fans need to register before downloading.
So I hope it's okay, because here, they don't need to register so they can download and they can access our scanlations here, too. But I'm not sure, so I'm asking if it's alright...
Yup, torrents are allowed :)
That is fine too :)
They have an option that way.
Fortunate I have adblock.
Those are all the things that stuck in my craw all these years. Esp No 2. Register/Dl is just ... plain idiotic. Do you know how many scan/trans groups out there that disband a few months after opening? Joining a short lived community boasting of 5-10 members are just a bother.
