Fairy Tail - Chapter 545 Review by XXEliteXXAceXX
FINAL CHAPTER: "Irreplaceable Friends"The chapter was satisfying all the way to the end. It made me remember all the good times in this series.
StorylineThis week's chapter starts off in the year X793 with Lucy Heartfilia winning the Kem Zaleon Literature Award for her book "The Adventure of Iris". One year has passed since Acnologia's defeat and the world was seemingly at peace. Fairy Tail attended a gathering in recognition of Lucy's accomplishments; meanwhile, Lamia Scale continued their traditional Thanksgiving Day. For Sabertooth, an annual eating contest was held and over at Blue Pegasus, Ichiya was selected as the most attractive man of the year. Last but not least, members of Mermaid Heel became models for Weekly Sorcerer and the independent guild, Crime Sorcière, were pardoned for their sins.
With Hisui E. Fiore as the new queen, relations between Ishgar and the Alvarez Empire were slowly being re-established. At the party, Lucy noticed that Zeref Dragneel and Mavis Vermilion were present; however, they took a different persona due to the fact that they had been reincarnated. At the end of the chapter, Lucy wakes up from her dream and sees Natsu Dragneel in her room. This causes her to remember the memories she had since she joined Fairy Tail, thereby making her cry. Natsu responds by telling her that they will always be together. With that settled, Team Natsu had set off on a hundred-year quest!
AnalysisI'm not going to lie. This chapter was quite nostalgic even if there wasn't much of an impact.
Relationships - I'm not particularly a fan of pairings; however, it seems the main couples are together whether it is friendship or romantic love. Gajeel + Levy, Zeref + Mavis, and Elfman + Evergreen seem to have the most reassurance. Whereas Natsu + Lucy, Gray + Juvia, and Erza + Jellal is left open for interpretation. It is possible that there are other plans for these couples. As for Laxus, there is some potential here but most of them are rumors.
Zeref and Mavis - This part was a little confusing. However, rather than looking at it from a logical standpoint, I thought it was more symbolic in a way that it depicted an alternative story to Zeref and Mavis' life. It's as if this was how they would have been, had they not suffered from Ankhseram's curse. For the most part, I was okay with what happened.
Alvarez Empire - I didn't really have a problem with how things were resolved. For me, there wasn't really anything important to mention. The Spriggan 12 are like any other villains Fairy Tail has faced. A simple explanation should suffice.
Flashback and Conclusion - Probably the only part of the chapter that I really enjoyed. Seeing all the events at the beginning of the series in the form of a flashback really made me reminisce the old times. I also liked ending of the chapter which explained the essence of Fairy Tail itself.
CriticismsI have no criticisms for this chapter.
Final ThoughtsOverall, I felt that the chapter and series as a whole ended on a good note. "Fairy Tail" has been a long journey for many of us and will always have a special place in my life. To think it has ended is quite depressing, but I couldn't have asked for more.
