First off, just a quick reminder. We are in DIRE need of more proofreaders and translation checkers.
PM me if you're confused on how to start :).
With that said, we have a new update to help further our motion for higher-quality translations on MH.
There are three new areas to pay attention to when looking at a new translation. Observe:
Translations that have this want a translation check. Also, below it there will be an "Areas to check". The translator can use this to point the translator into the right direction.
Find all translations that need Translation Checks by using the
filter on the Translations page.
Translations that have this want a proofreader to proofread their translation.Check the translation for
flow, punctuation, and grammar. If it looks weird, and they have that image up, help them out and point out the error. It's what they want :D.
Find all translations that need proofreading by using the
filter on the Translations page.
Once the translation is proofed and ready to go you'll see this green bar: Located:
It's a small step but hopefully one that will help improve the quality around here.
If you want to help give back to the community that just keeps on giving, then proofreading or translation checking is the way to do it! Ask

Great work guys :)
The placement of the "Translation Check Needed" / "Proofreader Needed" warnings on the right makes them a little easy to miss (easy to ignore them via "banner blindness"). Also, at a quick glance by someone unfamiliar with the site, about to grab a translation for scanlating, just from the headings, they could be mistaken for a site advertisement for TL-check / proofreader recruitment. >_>
But they look great and I think there's no need to do anything about this directly (read on).
The green bar saying "OK to use me!" is an excellent idea, but it's slightly hindered by the fact that people won't become "trained" to look for it, because not all good translations have it
- only those who have first asked for help. I think there should be a alternative green bar saying "The translator has vouched that this translation is ready for use without further checking/proofreading" or whatever, so that people will become used to seeing green bars on translations that are ready for use.(edited out)
Alternatively, there could be an analogous red warning bar for translations that have asked for help and not yet received it; this would add emphasis to the warnings/requests for help on the right and make sure they're not missed. ^^
If you're 100% satisfied with your translation, or that you have someone already doing a proofread, you can set it to ready for scanlation yourself.
Carry on, good work guys XDD
No, they can't, the banners are optional and for translators who want to have their work proofread/checked. There is no mandatory checking/proofreading.
