Today was the premiere of the new One Piece movie I talked about a
while ago and it was *gasp*!!! amazingly good! Due to the extreme popularity of it, if you didn't reserve tickets ahead of time you had no chance of seeing it. Luckily I researched a bit beforehand and found me some seats for the last showing of it (thus my delay in posting this article :( )
I'll be going into more detail in a forum post a bit later. I plan on writing about the movie in detail which will probably spoil most of it, and as such it should be posted in a place where we can hide it better ;). What I want to cover first is the volume that was handed out to the lucky individuals who managed to get a seat :D.
However there is one thing about the movie I want to make clear:
This movie does not take place in the past. The whole Strong World manga that came out with it starts in the past, introducing the boss - but when Luffy and crew meet him it's as close to the present story as possible (could be before this current arc, could be after - who knows~).
As you can see in the photo presented the volume is extremely thin :(. Also, the chapter that was released in Jump a couple weeks ago was the entire story. The rest of the manga defines the characters a bit, presents some "behind the scenes" where it shows the original sketches done by Oda-sensei, a list of various products you can buy, an interview of the director and finally a message from Oda-sensei.
For completeness sake here's the ToC:
Chapter 1......................... The Story of One Piece
Chapter 2......................... Chapter #0 Strong world
- The Story of Strong World
Chapter 3......................... Note of EIICHIRO ODA
Chapter 4......................... Goods of Strong World
Chapter 5......................... Voice of Director
Chapter 6 ......................... Message of Eiichiro Oda
Totaling 81 pages.
Oda-sensei's message at the end is pretty straightforward with him saying he's a manga artist, not an animator, so if people enjoyed the film that they should send thanks to the animators. That he believes the film is something everyone will like and writes about one thing that I found amusing - stating: Throughout the creation of the movie they followed one simple saying, "Let's all become happy in December!"; that during the film, it's OK to fight, it doesn't matter who you got angry; that at the end of all of it, as long as it's done well, the fans will be happy and through that all hard feelings won't matter anymore...
But at the end he casually drops a BOMBSHELL!!
He says
Quote:
"This story is Luffy's last adventure as a 17 year old so watch it over and over again!"
...!!!!
Could he be hinting at Luffy growing older?! Or the series ending with Luffy at 17?! Let the
theories begin!
For those of you who want a more in-depth breakdown of the movie, follow us on Twitter(or at least check it from time to time :p). I'll be posting a link to the summary there.
Also those loyal followers on twitter will have the advantage of winning Volume 0 when we give it away a little later on!
So stay tuned and Follow Us~~~.
i'm hoping oda doesnt end it with luffy at 17 but rather do a little time skip like with naruto shippuden.
could that mean there will be a timeskip after this arc????
(its possible...)
I cant wait, *OOO*;!
For that reason, when I heard THIS
Thanks for the info and thanks for your thoughts and review about this movie!! :tem

Enjoy ;)
Anyways, timeskip might be good. But at least 1.5 a year and not more than 5 years. Please NO 3 years timeskip :P That would be way too naruto xD
Anyway, a time skip would be so badass. I'd hope for the maximum being 2 years. Of course we could be waaay off with this time skip idea.
lets be hopeful
and to OunknownO, sensei is like...giving respect to someone who u think deserve it in their profession, like a doctor or so (to me anyway)
thanks for the OP update, glad the movie wasn't all hype...and now waiting for reviews
I don't think oda would do some shitty time skip like Naruto.
when(Oda)execute it
like Toriyama did DB became more interesting<his inspiration
One Piece Z
Luffy & Hancock gets married and have son, Lutten.
:P
Hoping to catch the movie tomorrow in Shibuya, and hoping they still have the book left.
Doesnt anybody actually expect luffy to become PK at 17?!
I really want that timeskip.
♥u♥
one piece ftw!!! :3
