James Cameron Expresses Desire to Direct "Battle Angel" Cameron expresses his desire to personally direct the live-action adaptation of Kishiro Yukito's "GUNM". Big-name Hollywood director James Cameron, famed for his work in "Avatar" and "Terminator" and other such blockbusters, has said that he wishes to personally direct "Battle Angel", the live-action adaptation of the Kishiro Yukito manga "GUNM", saying he wouldn't give the chance up to any other director.
This declaration happened at a publicity event for his new production "Sanctum". In response to a question from Collider.com, he said, "'Battle Angel' is still in the planning stage. In the next five years, I'll really have my hands full with the sequel to 'Avatar', so I've had to consider letting other directors work on 'Battle Angel'. However, I love the rich world that is contained in this work, so I decided that I wouldn't let up the chance to work on it to anyone else. Most likely, (out of the 9 volumes) the first four volumes will be the central focus of the story. Thus, it's likely that the 3rd and 4th volumes that concern the motor ball, and the story from the 1st and 2nd volumes, will be adapted into film."
"GUNM" is an action manga which tells the story of Gully, a young girl whose whole body is a cyborg, and who uses cybernetics martial arts called "kikoujutsu" to fight with all she has to regain her memories.
No matter how long James Cameron takes, the very fact that he has decided to direct "Battle Angel" himself should make Japanese fans extremely delighted.
