Here you will find a run down of today's anime and manga news! If anything sent waves through the anime and manga world today, you'll find it in this post! By the way, I'm saladesu, one of the translator-moderators of MH, and I'll be posting a post like this every day (as much as possible, anyway). Look forward to them ;)

Weekly Schedule of Shiibashi Hiroshi Reveals Tough Life of Mangaka

Mangaka of Nurarihyon no Mago, Shiibashi-sensei, only gets 3 hours of rest in his hectic schedule.

Looking at the above schedule (click for a bigger view), one is quick to note the lack of white boxes, which represent time not spent working on his manga Nurarihyon no Mago, which is published in Weekly Shounen Jump. Shiibashi Hiroshi is one busy man. He catches a mere 2 hours of shuteye on Mondays, and only gets 8 hours of sleep on weekends. So there we have it, the life of a mangaka is far from a bed of roses...

I would say it's different for every mangaka, though none of them have much time. :P Considering that Miura(Berserk) does all by himself, we should all be happy to see so many releases a year.

Of course! Every mangaka naturally works at different speeds ^^ If you read Bakuman you can also gain some insights on the life of a mangaka. When you see things like that schedule and the events portrayed in Bakuman, you really appreciate the 19 pages you get to read every week (in the case of WSJ), and think to yourself "yes he totally deserves it!" when a mangaka takes a week off :)

Incidentally, the mangaka of the longest running manga in Jump, Kochi Kame, has never taken a week off his manga o.o Amazing guy.
