Nominees Announced for 15th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Nominees are FMA, Shigurui, Fantasium, Takemitsusamurai, Oumagahashi, JIN, Sunred and Chuushun Komawari-kun. On the 26th of February, the nominees for the 15th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize were announced in the Asahi Shimbun to promote the culture of manga within the country. 8 manga were chosen by experts and nominated by bookstores from the series that were published in 2010 and then selected by a judging panel of 8 independent individuals.
Anime adaptations have been made of nominees "Shigurui", "FMA" and "Sunred", and the movie "Fullmetal Alchemist: Nageki ni Milos no Sei naru Hoshi" will be opening in cinemas in 2011. Of note is also the fact that a number of the nominees are period pieces, namely "Shigurui", "JIN", "Oumagahashi" and "Takemitsusamurai".
The Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize was birthed to commemorate the contributions of Tezuka Osamu, the grandfather of Japanese manga, and began in Asahi Shimbun in 1997. In addition to the prize for the most excellent manga of the year, the Manga Grand Prize, there will also be the Rebirth Prize for works which displays novel expressions, ground-breaking themes, Short Story Prize and a Special Award to commemorate contributions to the development of the manga culture.
The winner will be announced in the middle of April, while the awards ceremony will be held on the 27th of May.

One Piece and Toriko on Ska Para Mini-Album Jacket Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra will be singing the theme songs for both One Piece and Toriko's theatrical anime movie adaptations. Characters from popular mangas "One Piece" and "Toriko" appeared on the jackets of 9-man band Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra's mini-album.
Ska Para will be providing the theme songs for the theatrical anime movie adaptations of both series, both of which will be opening in cinemas on the 19th of March. The album containing the two theme songs, entitled "HEROES", goes on sale on 16th March. The jacket features members such as Luffy from "One Piece" and Toriko, all of whom are carrying musical instruments, as if the members of Ska Para had transformed into them.
Member NARGO was ecstatic at getting a chance to sing for a nationally-loved anime, calling it "a dream come true".

I don't really know who to root for Shigurui or FMA...unfortunately those two are the only titles I know...but I will definitely check out the rest...we will get an update on the winner, right?
And it seems that Toriko is gaining more and more popularity...joining in with OP is a win any way you take it
