AJA Opens "Anime Charity Auction" in Aid of Quake Victims 
This year's auction will be in aid of the quake victims and includes various rare merchandise such as signed scripts and art cels. The Association of Japanese Animations (AJA) opened a "Anime Charity Auction" at the Akihabara Tokyo Anime Centre on the 12th. The member companies of AJA provided the items to be auctioned, and the items will be auctioned via a silent auction. This charity auction will be used to raise funds for the March Touhoku earthquake victims, and all proceeds will thus be donated the the Japanese Red Cross to be channeled to relief activities.
The AJA has held a charity auction every year at the Tokyo Anime Fair, but in 2011, the fair had to be canceled due to the quake. Instead, this charity auction in aid of the quake victims was held to use the items that were supposed to be exhibited for a greater cause, for the quake victims.
All the items to be auctioned can be considered rare goods, such as scripts and posters signed by popular seiyuu or staffers, art cel and other items normally not put up for sale. These include the script of Shindou Sugata from "STAR DRIVER Kagayaki no Takuto", voiced by Fukuyama Jun and personally signed by him, and an art cel from "∀ Gundam". Another attractive item on the list up for auction was the original color art from Nakajima Atsushi that were eventually turned into posters.
The auction is open for bidding from the 12th of April to the 31st of May and bidders can simply drop their bids into a box placed at the anime centre. Bidding can only be done at the anime center and payment is done at designated banks.

Gundam Unicorn Sets BD Chart Record for OVAs 
Unicorn is first OVA to top the Blu-ray Disc overall charts for 3 installations running. The Blu-ray Disc (BD) of "Kidou Senshi Gundam UC 3", which went on sale on the 7th, has sold 87,000 copies in its first week and took first place on the Oricon weekly overall BD rankings. The earlier 2 installations of the series had also topped the charts, making this the first OVA to top the BD overall charts for 3 installations running.
"Gundam UC (Unicorn)" takes place 3 years after the events in the movie "Kidou Senshi Gundam - The Counterattack of Char". The third episode "The Ghost of Laplace", sold more copies than the previous episode, which only moved 81,000 copies in its first week.
The DVD version sold 45,000 this week, and took the second spot on the overall DVD weekly rankings.
