Man Arrested for Distributing Anime via Share
25-year-old man had uploaded "∀Gundam" and around 28,000 other anime and manga files illegally.
A jobless 25-year-old man in Ashiya City, Hyogo prefecture, was arrested for uploading anime via file-sharing software "Share" without authorization from the license holders of the anime.
The man had uploaded the 50th episode of Sunrise-produced anime movie "∀Gundam" onto file-sharing software "Share" on the 24th of February, and used the software to distribute it to an undisclosed number of internet users, thus violating copyright laws. He was arrested on the 4th of April after uploading more anime onto Share illegally. In total, he had uploaded around 28,000 files of around 300 titles of anime and manga.
He stated his reasons for uploading the anime as, "to maintain the download speed" and "to become famous".
