Japan Protests Over IHT Snow White Comic Comic was published in International Herald Tribune and was on the Japanese nuclear radiation situation. On the 21st, the Japanese consulate-general in New York protested to the New York Times against an editorial comic that was published in that day's International Herald Tribune (IHT), citing the reason that it would stir unnecessary public wariness of Japanese-produced food items.
The comic depicts Snow White, holding a newspaper with the words "Japan Nuclear Radiation", and holding a magnifying glass to an apple held out by an old lady, asking, "Wait a minute! Do you come from Japan?" The consulate-general told the editor at the New York Times in charge of the IHT, "All Japanese-produced food items have passed the tests. I am unhappy about this because their safety has even been acknowledged by the American authorities".
The editor expressed his deep regret over the matter. The comic was supposedly taken from an English newspaper in China.
