Tezuka's "Phoenix" to be Republished in Original Form 
Old "Phoenix" volumes had different lines, art and omitted certain parts from the version printed in magazine. The lifework of acclaimed mangaka Tezuka Osamu (1928-1989), "Phoenix", will be reprinted in its original form for the first time since its magazine serialization.
"Phoenix" was published in various magazines in turn and its 15 arcs compiled into volumes between 1954 and 1988, and was an epic that challenged the mysteries of life and space. However, when it was compiled into volumes by Asahi Sonorama and Kadokawa Shoten, Tezuka edited the lines and panels.
In addition, parts of the story was changed as well, such as the part in the beginning of the manga where it was revealed that the scientist Saruta was the younger brother of Professor Ochanomizu (from Tezuka's other work, "Astro Boy").
Fans had been requesting for this since a long time ago, saying, "We want to see the original form of this masterpiece", and after receiving 600 such requests, publisher "Fukkan Dot Com" decided to answer the call. In June this year, all 12 volumes will be republished as the "Original Version". The color pages and frontispieces will return as well, and the incomplete arc will also be included.
